I am 75 and not able to sail anymore. You will have a beautiful boat when finished, and I will enjoy following you. I do envy you. Good luck. Incidentally you're sailors. You're supposed to swear. It's part of the job.

Ken, sorry to hear you can’t sail. Thanks for the vote of confidence. We are worried if the gamble will pay off but we are getting used to living on the boat and we love the extra space. We can see living in this boat for a long while yet. Thanks for watching 😊

I am feeling embarrassed because I didn’t even notice the swearing you mentioned!😳 I am an engineer and we’re also a bit like sailors and a trifle fluent in bad language!
The boat has obviously been flooded by water ingress at some point but you guys are on it and the footage will be compulsive viewing for an ever widening audience. At least you have a Piglet personality to balance the Eeyore and keep him buoyed up! I, for one, can’t wait. 👍

Do not worry too much about “harsh” language. It is a mental health release. It was all we had in the army. For a family YT channel you can “beep” it out.
On other YT channels we always see ups and down when opening projects. They get repaired and fixed! All part of the process!

It is good to have this video record of what you have accomplished. The restoration of the boat is a big undertaking. The visible part occurs rather quickly, the hidden parts more slowly. We who watch see it as fun. You who do it, suffer frustration and a lot of work. We “watchers” get to experience something we wish we could do but are too fearful to try.

Is it a 4108 or a 4236 Perkins. Wouldn't worry about that tank even if it was a bit rusty it would need to be replaced. As for the alternator, you will get a much better output from a modern one anyway. I would be more worried about finding the mast or the sails. Are they in the yard? I hope you are not suggesting the boat was only worth half what you paid for it ;)

I personally swear like a sailor anytime I'm working on something and it's not going well.. who's the designer and manufacturer of this new vessel?? She's going to be a wonderful boat once done.. you will be able to travel anywhere and have enough room for storage and comfortable living on long trips.. I'm wanting to learn how to sail and buy a liveaboard classic sailboat.. wish I could find someone like you 2 close to me so that I could lend my skills and help just to get the experience in bringing a older boat up to par for everyday use.. I definitely subscribed since you're both dedicated and seem to be the kind of people who are worth being around..

There are lead keels and iron in concrete keels ..not so happy if they get wet..
How to tell try a strong magnet
Or a hand held compass... Iron will cause it to swing..

Although I was a shipwright, I know nothing of fibreglass boats so I'm of little help. However, you're both vey versatile and resilient. Just keep each problem separate and don't run them all together into one overwhelming one ... as Stuart demonstrated with one stanchion at a time and not worrying about all of them before you start

The engine next, if that can work then you have options.
Interior , clean and clean and keep really basic . Don’t take apart more than you can fix in a week! Just one piece at a time or you can get overwhelmed.
