That's a pretty cool lock. I hope people didn't jump ahead to the picking as seeing the inner workings and how they all come together was interesting as well. Nice job with the picking...
Nice pick Ash! Wow, this one video has increased my understanding of lever locks dramatically. Been hoping to find a cutaway lever lock but no luck. Would be great if the front cover could be replaced by plexiglass. Still, I think I'd actually have a chance at picking a lever lock now because of this video. Thank you for that last bit at the end with the key interacting with the levers with the cover off.
@@DAdamTrammell it’s pretty easy to replace the cover with a plexiglass one, just be sure to open them up carefully, locksmiths prefer to but a bolt with a spacer on it in the door-handle hole so you can rotate the top part away carefully and hopefully don’t see everything with springs on it flying out of it. Make some holes in the plexiglass and screw it on.
It is also very popular in Russia. If you buy a normal door (the one that cost around 100 thousands roubles, roughly 1100 dollars), it will likely come with Mottura locks
Fantastic video. The craftsmanship on the inside of the lock is impressive. I believe China has a manufactured a two and one pick for this type of lock. Idk if it would actually work🤔 Thank you for sharing this video 🙏
Now that is a gorgeous lock, and a well done pick! I follow Andy Mac, one of his tensioners would give your wrist a rest :) Thanks and have a great weekend!
Professional lockpickers from Kiev use some sort of "self impressioning" tools for Mottura lever locks. In their videos it works faster than using a hook, like yours.
Yeah, older double bitted locks were vulnerable to impressioning, also known as “Bulgarian pick”, but newer double bitted locks like the one used in this video are not vulnerable to impressioning, aka Bulgarian picking.
That's a bit chunky ! Triple direction throws, plus the 4+1 mains. Gotta see the tech drawings and if this comes with a mating front plate for sandwiching the door it's mounted to. Think I'd suggest a window at this point.
@@dxfvgyhjh The lock itself have a pretty strong mechanical resistance (also secure the top and the bottom of the door with two or more bolts and usually extra side bolts are mechanically connected to the lock bars are added.... for the hinge side, some fixed cone shaped bolts are usually enough). The problem is..... in Italy all houses are equipped with these kind of armored doors (and armored windows too!) so the burglars have to choose different ways to enter the property... In many countries (where doors and windows are easily breakable) lock picking is usually not an option. In Italy, lock picking and lock self-impressioning are quite common ways for burglars (and this kind of lock offers low security against self-impressioning tools!)
Horribly difficult lock to pick from @Tallan Pick 🔐 But that’s the kind of challenge us lock pickers love! Sometimes 😅😅😅
An awesome lock, and awesome picking. If a place needs locks like that, there must be a big problem with burglary. Thanks Ash. 🙂👍

Ooooooooo! Those false gates are some nasty little fellows!
I wish lever locks were more common here in the states.
Only antique ones for the most part I believe
"I'll just dump those springs. It doesn't matter..." Nice video.!
lol
Great video! You did a fantastic job of explaining how it works, even if it wasn't behaving in the end!
Thanks 😊

Check with Andy Mac. He's done several videos with plexiglass covers on lever locks, and may have a line on where to find such an animal.
@@alger8181 thanks for the heads up! Looks like a great channel and tools.

This lock is awesome. I love seeing cool mechanics like that.
It’s a great lock!
Mottura is very popular here in Italy, probably the most popular for residential locks
did you open it?

Absolutely great job my friend!! I´m glad you enjoyed the lock, it´s really a though one ;o))))))
Cheers!

I’m not sure his tensioners would work on this - I have most of them he sells I think 🤔
Thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks 🙏

Absolutely! But that’s not the fun of our hobby 😀

@@James-ud4fg isn't bulgarian picking drilling?
@@dxfvgyhjh Nope, it's actually a tool that makes an impression of the lock and ultimately unlocks the lock and shows you what the key looks like.
Wicked lock, with some wicked false gates Ash! Very very very cool, don't come across such locks often in the US! You handled it like a champ 👍👍
Thank you!

This is a very common lock in Italy and, by the way, is not considered a super secure lock but an entry level lock for household application instead!
So it actually seems to be a very secure lock?

That looked like quite a challenge. Bit of a big key to carry round though 🤣
A cool key though!
Brilliant 😀 thanks for that 👍👍👍🍻
No worries 😉
Awesome pick. Well done!
Thank you
If each of those 4 leaver bars had a different bitting, it would be very hard to pick - but it would also require two different keys to open!
Or maybe a 4 sided key?
@@VeraTR909 I believe the key wouldn’t fit underneath the leavers when you wanted to insert it?
I have seen old lever lock keys with 4 bittings before.
Very impressive lock, and very well done
Thanks 😊
actually made new keys (lost keys) for a similar model lock on a safe cabinet a couple of months ago, first throw engaged the follower (handle)
very cool Ash mate that is on big lock👊👍😊🇬🇧😎
Ha! We don't need handles! Who cares about them? Lol.
Where we are going we don’t need handles!!!
Lol
All I can say is, Oh my!
Lol
These door locks are real challenge. I haven't seen many pick tools for it like for padlocks.
Yeah it’s a pretty complicated mechanism
All made in Italy ♥️ we make good hand made stuff ♥️. I skipped something. Are thise tools on the market too? Any set of "pick wire" ready?
Hi my I bought a lock picking set but my mum doesn’t want me to even look at it any arguments?
Love the vids keep it up
Thanks
Non voglio insegnarvi come aprire una serratura, ci vuole un tensore centrale e il grimaldello laterale, un po di pratica . Buon lavoro
Bro I've been searching all over the internet trying to fing a lock like this one. Is there a name for these types of locks?
serratura triplice
