Excellent advice. I followed this video advice to register my imported car... the advice of sending photos is really useful and I did this....result 3 weeks later I had my log book without one problem. Turned what looked really complicated into a straight forward process....thank you very much

I once registered a 48cc moped and didn't get NOVA for it because anything under 49cc is exempt from NOVA and I got the forms sent back to me stating that I had no NOVA I had to send the forms back with a printout of the rules concerning under 49cc and then it was sorted, They did send out an inspector though. Your video is very informative.

Hi, I have an interesting one in so much that I am reimporting a 1980 Bentley T2 that was exported to Germany in 2009. My shipping company is handling all the import papers and taxes and are stating that a 5% tax on the purchase price(15000 euros) + shipping + German export tax + an import tax of £150 and of course VAT. The car still shows up on Gov website on the original registration number as not being taxed or MOT'd and therefore still currently listed. I am surprised by your video that the 5% tax isn't payable on cars less than £100,000, I would also like to keep the original registration number. I would like to know your thoughts on this, Great video and thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
I think they have lowered the threshold again now, but certainly during the brexit backlog it was surprising the value of things you could get in tariff free

@@FoxSpeedshop Thanks for your speedy response
do you have to deregister a car/bike from the country its coming from? looking at importing a motorbike from holland to the uk
Most countries wont allow them to be exported unless they are deregistered prior to leaving. Same as filling in v5 here as marked for export and sending to dvla when sold abroad
Only one thing I wasnt clear on is my car has the correct car engine, but it is a replacement engine from the same year . So the car vin plate and American title match but the number on the engine is different because the origional engine one had to be scrapped, Does this matter if I list the number of the engine as not the origional as many old classic must have replacement engines otherwise everyone would be the rare "matching numbers" car. Any clarification please
No need to declare the engine number just vin
My 1950 Ford has no engine number on the v5 nor the title, infact flathead v8s didn't technically have engine numbers

@@FoxSpeedshop Thanks for the superb help on this
Thanks for the help on this ...brilliant
So you do not need to mot the vehicle first?
No, not pre registration, although if you do then they tend not to inspect as often
@@FoxSpeedshop cos i have a 1966 vehicle in my garage back in Malta for long time and not running, and i was thinking to bring it over to uk as currently I’m living in uk , and that’s why i was not sure if i need to mot it or not
@@thetruckdriver3060 you should be fine as its MOT exempt anyway
Do you not need to have insurance ?
No only in NI
A vehicle is not exempt from Type (or Vehicle) Approval by being over 40 years old…any car over 10 years old is exempt…
