(Not really a spoiler) In the novel, Mu Tipo doesn’t want to feed Chen Gong to a tiger; he tells his servants to take him back to the palace and clean him up so that he can be his male concubine (it is implied that they are tortured). Shen Qiao actually takes him out of town and explicitly castrates him so he can’t hurt anyone else. I think they should’ve left that in. It really helps to show Tipo’s depravity (which is said to be well-known through the lands) and also Qiao’s character I think. Soooo many small things like that have been changed from the novel for whatever reason and it has definitely been compacted for time, but that’s ok. If you can read the novel, I definitely recommend doing it! The official English translation is impeccable. Definitely worth paying for if you can (the free translations I’ve found online don’t come anywhere close tbh). You can order the official publications from Amazon for like ~$15 each.
It's true the book touches on very sensitive topics and that makes it even better, they probably censored it because they are very sensitive topics for the Chinese public (maybe)
Hopefully we will have the second season soon, this donghua is mega underrated and I adore the story of these two and on top of that he is a villain falling in love with the purest being he ever knew😭😭

Agree, but I don't see Yan Wushi not as evil either. With his strength and Magical power he could have wiped out whole cities. He could have plundered woman and children for cultivation or selling, just like the other demon sect or what the fat royal did. But that kind of things he did not do in the serie nor in the novel. In fact the only thing I thought was evil was giving Shen at the leader of the other demon sect. But even that he oversaw otherwise he could not have resqued Shen so quikly out of the water. It's not the end... actually there is one more season which was expected to come soon but it's been almost 3 years and nothing cameout.. if u love it so much u can read the original novel in English translation with the same name.... it's an amazing story.. very interesting..i think there is almost 40% of the story still remaining at this point where this season ends..
Those two remind me of Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu. Yan is so similar to Wen just like how he won’t leave the main character alone and always appearing when he needs help
