Just from my perspective, I would add a few things as someone that has watched these dogs grow up... Almost everything said about Britney by the trainer could also be about Cypher. Cypher was a quarentine dog. He didn't meet or socialize much. He is fearful. He is nervous in situations. He still has a lot of those qualities to him, but he was saved by you getting Sahara and that changed him. Most of his behaviors were "caught" and fixed by having his sister join the family/pack. Rizal already came socialized, with littermates and the breeder's family. That is why it did not cause much disruption in the family. Britney just needs the chance to learn. She seems like she cares about pleasing people and that is a big thing, because it shows she is willing to learn and adapt to make people happy.
The pack was used to Cyper being top rank. He is the oldest, he is RJs favorite, Cypher runs things when it comes to the pack dynamics. He disciplines and barks at the others to control the situation (like when the pack is playing together or running around). That is his role, that is how the other dogs seen him too. Also at play is, you have been splitting the pack for a while now, because of keeping the large dogs at the staff house and the smalls at home. That made a division in the pack. The staff house pack is led by Britney. The home pack is led by Cypher. Them being combined back together means that the leaders need to figure out the leader between them.
The favoritism is also probably causing a problem. Your parents constantly feeding, treating, playing, holding the small dogs... Just from what we see in the vlogs, we can see that it has been more of an issue since your parents got there. We see dynamics are changing. Sahara is being babied and held. Cypher is usually up on furniture away from others. Rizal and Britney on the floor. The dogs watch that. I know that seems like a little thing, but it could have big impact. Packs have order and causing a disruption to that order, can cause issues. Look at it from a child's perspective... if your brother got kisses and ice cream for dinner, how would you feel with a simple hi and broccoli? It adds tension in the pack, without meaning to.
This is just my perspective from having animals my whole life. My home has been a revolving door for fosters and rescues of all kinds. Don't give up. One round of training might not be the solution. It might take longer. Be prepared for that and to be okay doing it. Dogs can be really adaptable. We took in a pittbull that was used in fighting as a baitdog. We were told she was at least 2 years old. We were told that she could never be around other dogs safely. It took a lot of work. Months and months of socializing and retraining her mind. But it worked. Tanaka lived with us until she passed away. We had her 16 years and she never hurt anyone. We had her with our cats, chihuahuas, boston terrier, jack russel terrier, ferrets, wild rabbits and even squirrels that we raised. So, it can work out. There is hope at the end of the tunnel. Best wishes to the family and pack. You can get through this.

She's also probably bored, the random chewing on things around the house... since she's past the teething stage, that's a sign of boredom which increases the level of "bad" behavior.

I hope mikey gets ro read your comment. Its very insightful! And it is true we do notice the favoritism and difference of treatment. Be it intentional or not. Dogs definitely can feel “selos”. The explanation of how packs work are also so on point. Naturally animals have a hierarchy and packs have leaders. Its a great thing for mikey and rj to not give up. The incident is hopefully an eye opener and will inspire change at how things are done at the mabuhay farm house! There are no perfect pet owners mikey and its a journey. Similar to parents with children ❤

I think that besides the dogs going through the camp, it's important for the humans to go through practicing recognizing the signs to predict the behaviour and learn how to set boundaries. I also think that when he repeatedly said "it's too early," he meant that it's too early to give up on Britney. I don't think he really doubted that she and your family could learn. You've done so much training with your birds, so I don't doubt that you can do the training with the dogs to ensure that you could stop something like this before it escalates (like she should be able to instantly drop something/someone on command without having to pry them apart). That's a basic necessary skill for any dog owner. I liked how you said that you and RJ talked about how if it was a human child, you wouldn't give up on them (right away) and send them away. Don't listen to your mom about this - she never bonded with Britney in the first place because she didn't find her cute. Remember the behaviourist's advice of no favouritism in the future. It will help with preventing fighting.

Such great points. I think it’s great Mikey is being proactive and learning how to manage his dogs who are of different breeds to be able to live together. It’s true that his mom did make comments about Britney not being cute. Perhaps she favors the other dogs and Britney felt that. Also with all the different guests visiting, it would be hard for the dogs to have anyone’s constant supervision so this is all a learning experience for Mikey and RJ.
Thank you for vlogging with the dog trainer because it was very informative. Sometimes we may not know that certain things like having dog toys lying around can lead to serious territorial squabbles. I think because Britney is a different breed, there will be some things to learn.

I think Britney is a pretty high energy dog. I would suggest taking Britney on your daily walks. Just running around the house and yard isn't the same as a pack walk. It definitely was bound to happen since there is a difference in treatment between the big and smalls, like putting Cypher in a higher position away from the other dogs, shows the others he is above them. I have a pitbull and a miniature schnoodle, but they never fight thankfully. I really appreciate when Mikey didn't blame Britney but took responsibility for what happened and is willing to train her. She is stinking cute and is my favorite out of all the dogs.

I am so glad you talked to a dog expert and are going to get some training for Britney! 🥰💗 It's possible that the birthday party/hubbub and preparations/outfits were something that "flooded" (as the trainer was talking about) her coping mechanisms on that day. Your parents being there and lots of changes in the pack dynamics could have played a role too. Also Cypher shows some signs of anxiety himself that maybe the trainer could weigh in off if he sees pack dynamics on a regular day. It doesn't seem like Britney is a killer - I think behavioural boot camp is an awesome idea and i'm glad Rizal will go too.

Mikey.. I’m glad you are undertaking the opportunityvto train Britney, as for after she is trained and the “coach” says she can interact with other dogs please don’t separate her from the rest of the pack, she needs the pack to help her learn and to become the great dog she is intended to be. I personally think all 4 dogs should go to the training program as well as you and Rj take some sessions with the “ coach “ as well to learn how to deal with the situations that might arise. I have a pack of 5 dogs 1- 4 yr old GSD ( German shepherd) 2- 9 yr old pit bull boxer cross 3- 3 yr old Bull Mastiff 4- 2yr old cane corso lab x 5- his sister cane corso lab cross. We have gone through some pretty nasty fights between these dogs and spent thousands of dollars in training I learned ( even though I grew up with dogs many different kinds my whole life ) that I need to be the alpha and keep a calm cool and collected while dealing with the dogs. I haven’t had any issues with them since. I also was given the tools that needed to used like my Bull mastiff needs to wear an e collar when in the pack as he gets over protective of me so if a verbal correction doesn’t work he gets a correction from the e collar ( on vibration) it’s enough to take him out of the mind set that he needs to protect me.
Take any opportunity to learn and get training it will only benefit the whole family and pack.
Ps. Also I believe the bigger dogs need to be taken for long walks. Like I think Britney would benefit for taking him on your morning walks, a tired dog is a good dog. Also the small dogs need to follow the same rules as the big dogs ie not on the furniture, be corrected for proving any type of bad behaviour, no special treatment they need to be treated just like the big dogs.
Hugs from Scarborough to your fam jam from mine.

If I'ma be honest this was preventable, such a thing me and many commenters had said way back when you first got the dogs. The way you allowed your dogs to treat each other even if it was play, the way you'll allow your dogs to bark and pull on the leash etc. Them knowing how to sit and lay down aren't as important as teaching them manors.
If someone wants to call me insensitive I own a resource guarding dog, a dog who has drawn blood from my other dogs. With owning him I learned alot of dog body language, how to manage him and when to intervene. Not everyone has the know how and education to be able to properly manage a more dominant dog and it was a really good idea for Mikey to have sent her away for training but if Mikey had originally taken the time to hire an dog trainer or even taken some classes like so many commenters requested this outcome could of been prevented.
Also the breeder was very much at fault.
No ethical breeder would ever give their dog away for free, especially to someone who doesn't know the breed.

    • @dorkysophia
      @dorkysophia 2 месяца назад +1

Highly agree on this one. Xolos are intelligent and they know how to get what they want by observing how you treat them - I own one.
They are not the type where you just let them do what they want. They need constant training and daily exercise to avoid destructive behavior. Just looking at Britney’s color, it doesn’t look like she’s even going outside.
They should have done their research before getting that breed.

    Hey Mikey,
We all learn something new each day of our lives.
Hearing what Coach Francis said, I learned that what I had thought and expressed to you in a reply to the last vlog could very well be wrong. And I hope it was. Growing up we had a number of dogs and if any of the dogs were aggressive towards each other or to a person, my dad would rehome the dog. But hearing what Coach Francis said, that was probably the wrong thing to do. I wish I knew that then instead of now because we had a couple of incredible dogs that I loved that ended up being rehomed.
Knowing now that this kind of behaviour can possibly be trained out of the dog I think keeping Brittney and having her go to doggy school to learn how and how not to behave is the better option. She deserves being fair, after all she was only doing what is natural for her to do, the Resource Guarding... very interesting! Kind of explains people really well to.
Maybe getting that trained out of Brittney and keeping her as more of an outside dog, as she appears to be more inclined to be outside, would be the better thing for her. And yes, if you have human or dog company, she could be put in the staff house. The staff house with Ate Elsie could be Brittney's home. Cypher and Sahara are more inside dogs that go outside for walks or doing their doggy business outside so they could be Main House Dogs, and Rizal could be the roamer dog that goes everywhere. That's not a bad setup.
I'm guessing that Brittney would naturally be geared as more of a Guardian Dog, so her having the outside to be free and roam the property could be beneficial as a sort of guard dog in a way, or, more of an Alert Dog, meaning a dog that Alerts you if someone is around, and also more of a protector dog to someone who isn't supposed to be on the property.
We all deserve a 2nd chance in life, that goes for our pets too.
    Keep Safe and Always Inspiring,
    Matt - Toronto, Canada

I’m so so happy about this! Britney deserves a 2nd chance.. you’re correct.. this is the best gift you can give to Britney. This is already expected from You and Rj but still.. thank you for not giving up on her.
That talk with Coach Francis was soo educational for pet owners like me. I too is raising a quarantine dog and what he have mentioned about some of those behaviour is an “ah huh!” Moment for me.
As usual, sending You, Rj and the doggies much love!
    Enjoy the camp Britney! ❤️✨

I had my dog and cats brought here in the PH last november from Qatar which costed me hundreds of thousands of pesos. He fought with the other dog in the house even up to now but definitely I won't send him anywhere. Overtime he is getting used around the other dogs and is happening now. He grew up with me and he will die by my side and will forever take care of him up to his very last breath. Me also, just like ate elsie and I know it may sound crazy, I may hibernate for sometime just because of that bad decision. Remember the dog of one of your workers, I suggested that you have him adopted but you did not in the end. Sorry it makes me feel bad because every time you pamper your pets, it really makes me happy. I always wait for your new videos for me to watch and enjoy but how can I do that now when knowing that something closest to my heart, you have just drawn back. I wish you look for other alternatives by giving more time in teaching Britney. Watch YT videos on how to take care of aggressive dogs and cats.

It may be expensive for some but ensuring a great Pet Life is what we vowed when we started keeping a pet. Thank you for showing your subscribers how to love and care for their pets :D

I’m am happy you’re not giving up on Britney. I cried hard the last episode because I thought another dog would be without a family he or she grew up with. You’re a good person, Mikey. You and RJ. You have a kind heart. The world needs more of you. Thank you. I have faith Britney will get out of this situation a much behaved dog, and she will be able to play peacefully and happily with the others after the program for the rest of their lives.

Mikey, I'm elated that you reached out to Dog Coach Francis. I follow him and I personally believe his approach is totally insightful. When I had my Dalmatian (many years ago), I put him through a "boot camp" like that, it was six weeks and the results were fantastic. During that six weeks I spent time with the trainers as well, learning a ton about what it takes to manage and train dogs, I learned so much that has helped me, even now. The trainers were very encouraging of me spending time in the program too. I absolutely believe that you're doing the right thing. Britney needs this and, I'm sure it'll help.
I think that you slept without reliving the tragedy because you have a plan that you believe in and it gives Britney a chance to learn new social skills so she can be part of the family. I think that's just validation that you're doing the right thing.
I think it's just too funny how Sahara has become the grandparent's favorite. Little Cypher looks like he's doing well, that's very encouraging to see.
I just have to say this... the way everyone is treating Britney is amazing! I was concerned that RJ may have had a hard time forgiving her but, watching this just confirms what I already knew... ya'll have hearts of pure, 24K gold (and as we know, Gold is everything). Britney is not evil, she's an angel who needs a little education, she'll get this now. I believe the future will unfold as it needs to, now it'll be more informed.
It's great we have such a hopeful ending! I hope we get updates as Britney goes to camp, I'm sure she's in the right place. I honestly feel that if anyone can help with this, it's Dog Coach Francis (I kinda wish we had him here in the US, LOL).
Thank you for sharing! Stay safe and healthy!!! Good luck at camp, sweet Britney!! I'll see 'ya next time.

Oh Mikey! I was so afraid to watch your next vlog because I don’t think I could’ve handled another crying session. But this time they were happy and hopeful tears. It takes a big man to admit one’s mistake and guilt especially in front of a camera. Your love for your baby girl overcame your fears and initial impulse to pass a permanent judgment on her. I knew you weren’t that kind of person and/or dog parent. That’s why I’ve been a supporter of your vlogs. And your 💯 right! This decision to give her a second chance is the best bday gift for Britney. As a fellow dog parent, I, too have lost sleep over this whole ordeal. Wishing you and your family happiness and peace.😘

I'm glad you gave Britney another chance! We, as the pawrents, really play a big role in our dogs' development. And it's important that we are consistent with how we treat them. So even after the training, at least you and RJ, should continue with teaching Britney and instilling in her as well as the other dogs, that you are authority. That way, they'll recognize boundaries. I also highly suggest for all your dogs to go through the dog training because regardless of their size/breed, dogs can get really agressive. It's in their naturewe can't fault them for it. At the end of the day, they're still animals. I was really waiting for this vlog and bracing myself for a broken heart if you ever decide to rehome Britney. So happy you didnt! Thank you for having such a big heart!

We do the same with our over playful, sometimes aggressive dog. We put him in a separate room with a bed, food, water, toys while we have guests. Once the guests are gone, he’s free to come out. We also try to plan ahead and give him a nice long walk before guests arrive so he’s exhausted and just chills in the room.
