Love your Ponton! I have a 1957 190b that is like a member of the family. I bought it at a classic car auction when I was 19 years old and got her running with my Gramps. She’s still running like a top 22 years later! Just rebuilt the brake master cylinder last year with my son and plan on doing the carburetor this year. Watching you drive your little beauty was like watching someone drive my “Talulah”. She was originally cream coloured but is now a near identical red to yours. Lovely car you have there sir! Thanks for the video

For me the must beautiful car ever made is the 1982 Mercedes Benz 190E (with wheels cups). I think it looks super lovely and perfect measures, rear trunk, fenders, wheel size, grill, pilars.

Impresive the beauty of clusters and not-glossy black pannel, curiously it looks very modern.
But I think the big difference between 50s European car and American cars is/was the bad-acoustic of engine into the cabin. American 6 cylinders straigh engines in rhe other hand were very silent. Sorry if my English is an ass hole.

My 1st car was one of these, 1960. My idiot of an old man replaced the gas engine with a diesel from a wrecked 190, not realizing that a) the differential was geared differently so the car was practically redlined at 70mph and b) there was no vacuum from a carburetor to power the brakes, so it was incredibly difficult to stop quickly. Still, I loved driving that car. Went to HS prom in it.

Hey Eric. We have the same car. I'd like to chat with you about getting the car back in shape. It has been with us for over 50 years. Grandfather bought it in 59 and it's been passed down two generations to me now. I need some help with spares. The bodywork's held up remarkably well and none done so far. Needs some ornamentals and dashboard switches primarily.

      Hello Srikesh,
Thank you for the kind reply. I can point you in the direction of support and spare parts. The good news is the W121 Chassis is basically the same as the 190SL, so part parts are readily available.
I don't know where you live, but if you are here in the United States, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine, CA can help you with parts.
Also check out the following websites for help from fellow enthusiasts.
      www.mbzponton.org/
      groups.io/g/ponton
both of these sites have members from every corner of the globe, so no matter where you live, you'll find fellow hobbyists near where you live.
      A wealth of information.
      Best of luck.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
      kind regards,
      Eric

Greetings All. Wonderful to read all the nice comments. I bought this car in 1985, when I was in my 20's. The car had many shades of primer and needed lots of work. I learned a lot about the car by working on it over the years. As most 23 year olds, I was adventurous. I drove the car on a 5000 mile round trip with spare parts and my tool box in the trunk. I could pretty much fix anything that it needed. The main issue was a worn engine and high levels of oil blow by. I tinkered with it and slowly fixed it up over the years. Here's a better explanation of the story of the car and more photos. bringatrailer.com/listing/1960-mercedes-benz-190db/ keep 'em running. Keep 'em on the road! Klatta, klatta, klatta.

      Hello,
Yes all pontons are 4speed column shift. H pattern. 4 gear would be downward in the plane closer to the windshield.
Perhaps I didn’t make to fourth gear.
3rd gear is perfect for driving around town.
