Loose tuning - works great though - I guess a lot of bands tuned to themselves back in the day. I've been teaching lessons in the past one-to-one and a student requests a song which I put on and its e minus a little bit! haha!!!! Have an awesome day Troy :)
One by one I keep finding these Lynch licks you've done Jay! Every time I am truly amazed at your ability to play and teach. I have the deepest admiration for you for sharing these tutorials man!!! Thanks a million as always!!!
Jay, love your stuff brother. Something you said at the beginning of the video, you thought this was dokkens heaviest song. When i bought this album i already knew just got lucky and alone again from the radio. i popped open the album and tossed it on the turntable and when heaven comes down was the first song i heard. at that point i was a rabid dokken fan until today. that song is still as bad ass as it was when it was made. ROCKIN WTH DOKKEN
Thanks so much dude 😊 🙏 Very very cool! Those first moments are so memorable and special! I can relate! Thanks so much for sharing! Have an amazing day!!!
Thanks so much John! Much much appreciated man! The Friedman pedal and AMP1 make my work easy - sooooooo love the tone :) Enjoy and have an awesome day buddy!
Thanks so much dude :) Sub list is growing my friend :) Its a process and I guess that tripping point will come at some stage and then the subs will start to increase quicker - channel has grown 200% in around 16 months, and I can see the accelerations also which is really exciting!!! :) Enjoy and have an excellent day dude :)
Thanks so much for this Dokken lesson and several other ones I have viewed from you to learn these cool songs-the way you do them are very helpful, even the lead ones too-I largely am more of a “thrash” metal fan from back in the day (Megadeth, “old” Metallica, Slayer, etc) also bands like “old” Maiden,etc-but I am a real George Lynch fan as well-really appreciate you and others who take the time to make these great video lesson so other guitar lovers like me can learn these cool songs-thx again!!
Hey Rich 😊 You're most welcome and I'm really glad you are enjoying these videos man! Ah very cool about the thrash bands! Loved Megadeth back in the day - still do. Rust in Peace.... classic! Anyways, I really appreciate it man! Enjoy the others! Have an amazing day!!!
Very cool! 😊 Enjoy learning it and thanks man! Btw, thank you so so so much for the gift! Very touched dude. I'll email in a few mins to express my gratitude 🙏 Have an amazing day and thank you Charles!
Thanks so much Jim! Much much appreciated! Its all those little things that make such a big difference to the tone and sound - love showing that and sharing with you all :) Enjoy and have an awesome day buddy!!! :)
Your tone in the instructional parts is especially heavy this time. Very Tony Iommi badass-sounding. I congratulate you on a super-righteous tone. And now, a request for another song tutorial: Tierra del Fuego from the Sacred Groove solo album. It's my favorite of George's solo songs.
Thanks so much dude! Much much appreciated! Gotta credit my gear for the tones - makes it very easy for me to dial in those Lynch tones :) Thats a great great request and I would really love to do instrumentals but took the decision to stay with songs for the time being as they are a quicker to do and with my schedule becoming increasingly full instrumental would take up too much time. But I will add it to my list and if the opp comes up I'd be happy to do it as I love love love that song and have taught it previously :) Enjoy and have an awesome day :)
"Thats a great great request and I would really love to do instrumentals but took the decision to stay with songs for the time being as they are a quicker to do..." Ah. Gotcha.
Chuffing amazing buddy!!!! - how I recall hearing this riff for the first time - "WOW!" , smoking !!!- This and "Don't Close Your Eyes" ..., brilliant album , great selection too , who ever suggested it Jay - and excellent lesson as always .
Thanks so much Rich! Much appreciated my friend :) Yeah its a really great riff and so George! Its funny to think that this same riff appears in Unchain The Night and Wicked Sensation and so many other songs but they all have their own personality and don't sound like rehashes of the same song - genius :) Enjoy and have an excellent day buddy!!! :)
I'm Bad about that too,My Bass Player calls it " Tuning of the day".. You just pick up your guitar, and start recording without checking your exact tuning pitch, Screw the tuna... and over night it just slacks ever so slightly, so you get. Eb and 1/2...But adds that cool "Don't give a crap" vibe to it. Love your Vids mate.
Haha! We've all done it right? I remember recording once and then picking up my bass and I was so out - so I tuned the bass to the guitar! Ha! Its that uh-hum 'special' tuning!± Thanks so much man! Have a most excellent day :)
What's your amp rig? Your lead tone really nails the sound of that purple '72 Marshall Super Lead 100w that George borrowed from Aspen Pittman to do the record (and ULAK). If it's a modeler you're using... it really captures that sound of a Celestion G12M 25w Greenback pushing air. Well done. 👍
Hey Scott, thanks! At that time I was using the AMP1/Friedman BE-OD combination (you can check that out on this video - ruclips.net/video/Bf7datORaqs/видео.html) but since then I have changed my setup and am using an amp I modified myself - its called the Purple#39 - basically an SIR#39 and the Aspen Purple Plexi in one amp 😉 That you can check out on this video - ruclips.net/video/1qY936A8FEk/видео.html - enjoy and have an awesome day! 🤘
@@jayguitar I know George hounded Aspen for years to sell him that Marshall... he told George he was welcome to borrow it anytime he needed it... but it wasn't for sale. I would imagine that it's in the Pittman family now that Aspen has passed away.
Another dokken theme, I love the style of george lynch in Dokken and the rhythm so marked and powefull, simple but super rhythm. Thanks Jay. I love the part of the pre chorus !!!!, the one that says: I do not know who to believe But I know who's gonna set me free Cause I'll be waiting Great dude
You're very welcome Jordi :) I love playing that part too! There is some really nice rhythm guitar work during that bit. Simplicity but so effective :) Enjoy and have an excellent day my friend :)
Hey dude, I certainly do - I probably haven't added it to the playlist (channel needs some maintenance ;)) - I always do rhythm week one and solo the following week now so if you check the listed videos on my channel it will be the the next one or a couple along chronologically :) Hope that helps! Enjoy and have an amazing day!!! :)
Thanks so much Vijay! Much much appreciated :) MY tone I get like this - ruclips.net/video/Bf7datORaqs/видео.html - enjoy and have an excellent day buddy! :)
Thanks so much dude! Much appreciated! Great great great song! My buddy Chad Coggin covered that one as an instrumental when we recorded the George Lynch Tribute album back in 2002/2003 - I've added it to the list my friend :) Have an mazing day man!!! :)
Hi jay im huge fan. Dig the dokken lessons. How do you get that sound. I play an epiphone jnr.it has straight humbuckers on. I play through a yamaha thx 10. Any suggestions on how i can possibly get the same sort of tone. Im also a beginner guitarist. Love the dokken
Glad you're enjoying the lessons and thanks! THR is cool - I have a THRII - email me through my website and I'll send you some screenshots from the app of the tone that I use, it will get you close to the tone that you're looking for 😊 Have an awesome day.

Nice job ! 👍🏻🙂
Incredible!
I have noticed that with a few songs of George where they are not quite e-flat but just above . Really shows when you jam along with the songs
Loose tuning - works great though - I guess a lot of bands tuned to themselves back in the day. I've been teaching lessons in the past one-to-one and a student requests a song which I put on and its e minus a little bit! haha!!!! Have an awesome day Troy :)
