From Warner Bros. Pictures comes the feature film “Blue Beetle,” marking the DC Super Hero’s first time on the big screen. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridueña in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Starring alongside Maridueña (“Cobra Kai”) are Adriana Barraza (“Rambo: Last Blood,” “Thor”), Damían Alcázar (“Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico”), Elpidia Carrillo (“Mayans M.C.,” the “Predator” films), Bruna Marquezine (“Maldivas,” “God Save the King”), Raoul Max Trujillo (the “Sicario” films, “Mayans M.C.”), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (“Monarch,” “Dead Man Walking”), and George Lopez (the “Rio and “Smurf” franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “Hocus Pocus 2”) and Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”). Soto (“Charm City Kings,” “The Farm”) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”), based on characters from DC. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.
The director’s creative team behind the scenes includes director of photography Pawel Pogorzelski (“Midsommar,” “Hereditary”), production designer John Billington (“Bad Boys for Life”), editor Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “The Lost City”), Oscar-nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo (“Jojo Rabbit,” the “Thor” films), visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain (“The Suicide Squad,” “Aquaman”) and composer Bobby Krlic (“Midsommar,” the “Snowpiercer” series).
A Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation, a Safran Company Production, “Blue Beetle” soars into theaters only internationally beginning August 2023 and in North America August 18, 2023. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Even Ryan Reynolds knows he needs to bring Wolverine into a Deadpool movie to make people interested. A character in the trailer calling Batman a fascist is all I needed to know to say it's a flop. Out of touch with the audience.

As much as I want this movie to be successful, I guarantee that it and Aquaman 2 will both flop. Many casual audiences and viewers just don't care about these DC movies anymore knowing that the universe will be reset regardless. People are at this point just waiting for Superman Legacy. If a Flash movie with multiple Batmen including Michael Keaton, Supergirl, Zod, and many other big cameos couldn't do well at the box office, then there's no way that a Blue Beetle movie who most people in the world have probably never even heard of the character before will do well at the box office. And that makes me sad because Blue Beetle is truly 1 of my favorite DC characters, and I love Xolo as an actor. He's amazing in Cobra Kai
Legendary is a little much but it’ll be a good movie as long as they write it well. I see a few red flags that lead into cringe territory but still optimistic.

FIRST of all I was beyond excited when I heard this movie was in production and that Xolo was gonna be Jaime, this is one of my most favorite underrated characters in DC and tbh I prefer him over the main Big Guys in DC and hopefully Static Shock will be coming soon.
SECOND of all there is something beautiful about them actually leaning in to him speaking little bits of Spanish here and there, not to mention the little detail of this trailer having the text be in Spanish as opposed to English. truth be told it brought a tear to my eye

A ten out of 10 for me. Susan Sarandon was amazing in her role as the bad guy, Ramario Xolo Ramirez as Blue Beetle was great, and George Lopez was absolutely phenomenal. He deserves an Academy Award, in my opinion. An actual masterpiece. Latinos' family togetherness is second to none. Blue Beetle hit all the emotions. Well done DC. A super hero masterpiece. George Lopez, George Lopez, you are absolutely amazing!!!

Blue Beetle is NO Spiderman. Without that alien scarab, that kid is just your average Latino drug dealer. Peter Parker is just as interesting OUT of his suit.

Literally every scene is reminiscent of something we've seen before. At least the CGI isn't Flash-level

It can differ a bit depending on the comic, and the fact that there are multiple Blue Beetles. Jaime Reyes has been the current Blue Beetle for a while now, and is easily my favorite. I'd recommend watching Young Justice which is 1 of the best DC animated series out there and has Blue Beetle in it as well if you want to learn more about him and other great/lesser known DC characters and just the universe more in general

I found this trailer just to say this movie is a piece of garbage. Mad annoying. I get the whole aiming at a particular demographic. But man, the commodification and mainstreaming of these superhero movies has got to be played out at this point. So corny.

A cross over between the origin story of Iron-Man and the TomHolland Spiderman with the Iron Spider suit... and a little Shazam on top.
Shoulda just skipped the origin story at this point. Just get to the story without wasting an entire movie explaining the obvious. Do a couple flashbacks and get to the plot. Which unfortunate looks like Shazam mixed with Green Lantern and practically nothin about this seems "different" or new.
