I grew up using & experiencing some of these phones, Looking back now it amazes me in the progression in how good smartphones have become, from resistive touch screens to capacitive was a nice feeling back then.
Wow like half of these phones came out when I was 5. I'm 14 now LOL. I forgot how old some people seem to be now, especially with the technology improvements of the past 2 decades.
@@khizarkhan4250 I'm 20 and I already feel really old lol
@@woosh2055 Lol yeah. Even though I'm only 14 I still feel old around my 3 year old sister. Like I was born before the iPhone and Windows 7(wow) and she is born around all this tech. @@WhyDo1NeedAHand1e Lol how old are you? To be honest I only have like 2 memories of the phones my parents had before they got smartphones, my mom had this old phone with 3 buttons that I played brickbreaker on then she got a blackberry. After that we switched to iPhone and Android.

I had multiple Nexus Devices as they were ultra developer friendly. They were easy to root, easy to modify, had access to WIP versions of Android updates for developers to test, and though root "voids warranty " every time my phone had issues they always fixed though I had custom ROMs and Rooted Firmware. My Nexus S was even repaired free of charge 2 years out of warranty with no questions asked. Wish they would bring back Nexus Devices again aimed at developers

Actually the shown photo is terrible. The sky is blown out, but the phone just renders it grey instead of white. There are no details in this area because the sky was blown out. When highlights are blown out, these areas must be white, not grey, it's very bad image processing.

6:39 I want to see that glas back finish again in newer smartphones. It looks *_ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS_*
6:55 Huge understatement in my opinion.
That's what it might have looked like from an average consumer perspective but Nexus 4 and 5 are definitely among the most important phones of the 2010s.
After the honestly forgettable Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus 4 became really the first example of a true Android smartphone as Google intended it (at the time at least).
Not only was it affordable which generated a lot of very helpful interest and publicity for Android as a platform but also it was a really well executed all-rounder, praised by users and developers.
In my opinion its release marked the beginning of Android's brief golden era.
And then, when Nexus 5 came out, it wasn't just an iterative update, it managed to be an upgrade in pretty much every way, while fixing the issues of its predecessor like replacing the beautiful but extremely fragile glass back with more durable plastic and having components with significantly improved longevity and quality control.
It also managed to become a sensation in the dev community not seen since the HTC HD2 days and quickly joined it as a legend that only now is starting to fade only due to its age.
And yet, to this day many people and projects use it as a reference platform device because it's just so easy to work with.
Since Project Treble came out it became less important what device you use for development but still, nothing quite managed to replace the Nexus 5, at least that's what I believe despite the Fairphone, PinePhone and Librem 5 being out in the wild.
I think Google made a big mistake by not continuing the tradition of the Nexus line, of having a different manufacturer build a state-of-the-art device every year or two.

@Super Soap yes, coz it is a common stigma of it being a "Chinese" brand. Everybody should know that, almost everything now is made in China. pfft.
Even almost all brands others fancy.
@Super Soap but xiaomi's UI sucks...and those horrible ads.
@Super Soap well, it's build quality is mostly okay for the price but some models are really weak. VFM is good. It's loaded with features. But it's UI feels really cheap and the ads keep popping up almost every two minutes which is really annoying. Updates are a bit slow and after sales service is not too good. Overall it's good for the price but it is not what it's fans overhype it out to be. A few years back there were some security issues too.

It would not load past the android aimation. This was even after the battery charging capibility stopped working, and I had to buy a separate Chinese battery charger.
This was a fun trip down memory lane, thanks Arun! you're one of the better ones
The time this must have taken.. I love your dedication and efforts, you never seize to impress me.
Back in 2015, I remember loving the Nexus 6P’s design language and Really wanted the phone so bad but I ended up just keeping the Samsung Galaxy S3 that I already had! I ended up getting the S4 a year later and I’ve pretty much stuck with Samsung ever since!
Yeah, when talks about call quality changed to camera quality..... See how time runs.
omggg i remember getting a G1 for Christmas and feeling like THE BIGGEST BOSS in high school when everyone came back from holiday break 😂 i was just NOT on board with the whole ‘onscreen keyboard’ deal because it honestly hadn’t gotten very good yet, along with most smartphone features we take for granted these days. i remember this phone just as fondly as i do my series of 5 Sidekicks (every generation besides the very earliest one with the black and white screen)
I miss the Nexus range, especially the Nexus 5 which is probably my favourite smartphone of all time. I feel that Google really lost the way with its Pixel Range. Massively overpriced when compared to flagships at similar prices. Don’t get me wrong, the software experience has always been exceptional. But Google overlooked key features like decent battery life and poor value for money when compared to some other flagships. Hopefully the recent decisions will bring the Pixel range back in line with what the original Nexus line was about. Showcasing the best software experience Google has to offer in a great value package.
What a throwback, my first phone ever was a Nexus S!
