- On February 6th, at 4 a.m. this area in south-eastern Türkiye was hit by a series of earthquakes. The most powerful one was a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that is now confirmed to be the deadliest quake of all time to ever hit the country. It took thousands of lives in a matter of seconds, leaving tens of thousands shelterless.
Dear People, the tragedy that struck Türkiye is a tragedy that we fully share and mourn: it took the lives of the loved ones of our friends from Cappadocia who also contributed to this report. We went to help them with the rescue efforts in order to tell the world their story.
This is Alexandra Sabynina for The People project reporting from Türkiye.

I say i want to talk about the ukraine war
And sorry again
Thank you for your efforts in gathering this information. God help them all. 🙏
The female narrator sounds like she’s reading a story about a magical princess
Lmao she is probably paid for work like that mostly i guess, but now you say it i totally here it
I was looking for this comment. I agree totally. She has a lovely voice but the style she used did not match the content at all.
Normally I love your videos and I know it's drama but this female voice over is just to much...
Yeah she’s so talkative lmao
Sorry but the narrator's voice is jarring, the tone she is speaking in is almost...offensive? She sounds like she'd reading a child a fairy tale.
I couldn't finish watching sorry, this is one of the most devastating earthquakes and she is talking like this is one of the most magical experiences ever.
EXACTLY
may god help those poor people. such a tragedy 😔
And people to this day still think building codes and regulations are not needed in our society.
Very compelling and informative commentary and coverage, thanks for your hard work
Heartbreaking people saving animals and kids, innocent children losing their lives 😢 No one deserves to go through so much tragedy
Prayers for the people of Turkey. May God give them Strength.
There’s no god quite obviously.
Prayers don’t do shit. Go donate. Go help. Send money. Do something except lying to yourself and others that you did something good by sending thoughts and prayers. May other people do the same when you are in need
Unreal. Sending my thoughts and prayers. Everybody try to donate something to help.,
May the grace of God give the rescued family and the family of the victims peace. I pray for their wellness and strength. I hope I can be able to help them soon.
About a month into covid, we had a 5.4 earthquake and that was traumatizing although the damage was resistive limited. I can't imagine what they're all going through. Seek Discomfort launched a cool shirt with 100% going towards victims in Turkey (and presumably Syria, but I can't recall off the top of my head)
we only know how precious & fragile life is after loosing someone.
my guy doing it again.
watching from Nairobi ,Kenya..
Watching from Dublin, Ireland …

@@Blitzy22 very nice. How's weather down there?
@@manukibe its usually cold here what about in Nairobi?
@@Blitzy22opposite of you lads , very hot here around 77 F.
The narrators voice is annoying me and a thousand others.
Thank you Anton & team, first class journalism.
4AM when it hit 😢 almost all the peoples were still asleep 😢 damnn
Fantastic coverage, Anton.
Great work as always. Terrible this happened. Thanks for the awesome video.
i heard about the earth quake and i didnt realize how bad it was. man thank you for bringing awareness
I don't know what people feel after watching this documentary, but having faced exact same situation back in 2015, seeing the phone charing station brought back the horrific memories of our people
I couldn't complete the documentary sadly and idk if any adult Nepali person could
I know no matter what I write means nothing and can't do anything to the people in this video however I would like to say that people of Nepal will be there in your prayers, sadly that's all there we non influenceal people can do
Our prayers for Turkey's everyone needs help so sad 🙏🙏😭
You need to turn on the super thanks button. It's located in your settings and it allows your viewers to donate directly to your channel, sort of like Patreon.
I don't know if YT allows it since he's Russian..
great work sir, but what a tragedy,
Vice rejecting this guy, was a big mistake! He is amazing
He is not liberal enough and will do what they say. Vice is worse than main stream media. Better to be independent and show what you want. Think John stossel.
Wait.. He applied to work at Vice? The Vice guys must be dumb. Didn't they watch his previous docs?
Vice rejected him??
Meanwhile, Anton & team are consistently uploading some of the best content..
Vice, take this L ..
Hang onto it for a while..
😂🍻
If you aren’t bluffing then it’s for good, Vice never produces quality content
This kind of help, people helping each other doesn't happen here in the united states'. When we have a tragedy, the people don't help each other like this here at all. They actually steal from each other instead.
This is simply terrible! I can't imagine their situation, but it hurts to see
Great video!!!! 👍👍👍
What’s happened to the voice over?!?!?!🤔
50,000k plus have died so far.. unbelievable
Fortunately they accepted the help Cyprus was offering,
This female narrator was a terrible choice. Go read bedtime stories this is a tragedy for gods sake.
One of the largest loss of life tragedies I have ever seen. And it barely made the news in many places. It doesn't fit the news channels objectives that should be , reporting the news. Great job in bringing real news.
Ok, but what about Syria....?
Please REUPLOAD THE VIDEO WITH A DIFFERENT NARRATOR! The female narrator in this video is INVALIDATING all the tragedy and heartbreaking aspect of this situation, where thousands of people died, thousands are left disabled and thousands of people lost their loved ones. Absolutely unacceptable
the other guy was much better and the narration had me reaching for the mute button.
the female voice over is really off
extremely sad
What about Syria?
@17:20
So sad
24:46 / 25:04
Change the female narrator.
Truly heartbreaking what has happened in Turkey I cant begin to express how saddened I am. God be with everyone there whos been affected.
Also. i'm sorry but the female translation narrator doesn't seem to understand the contexts of what she's reading and isn't using the appropriate tone AT ALL. Was this AI?
I want to talk about the ukraine war
Don't forget that America using sanctions made it largely impossible to move disaster aid to Syria over the border
the women doesnt fit its weird
karma
And sorry for ruin this serious video
Great journalism of a terrible disaster in a region that has already taken many bad blows in recent years. However, I find the voice and intonation of the narration slightly unsettling and inappropriate. I'm guessing you use a service like speechelo or something? This is a voice for a happy (or at least happy end) human interest video, not for an ongoing disaster report. What probably is an attempt at compassion, sounds and feels like belittling, banalizing even. It sounds like you want to instill a reaction of "awww, how cute!"
It's not a reproach. It is probably a cultural thing to not hear the difference. I try to picture Anton as the reporter and try to think how he would have sounded to report this. Delaying the translation allowing the viewer to hear the real emotions of the journalist on site, rather than overly faked emotion of a bot (or person who is disconnected from the event) would definitely have helped. A voice-over shouldn't try to put in emotion anyway. This is not a movie dubbing where the viewer needs to relate to the voice of a character. They need to relate to the story. That happens if you let the actual voice of the reporter set the mood/tone, and then translate as dry and as serenely as possible.
If you still can, I would suggest to change the voice-over at least to another voice.
For all people affected by the tragedy: have heart. Your losses are seen and your suffering does not remain silent. We will help you rebuild, even though lives lost can never be replaced.
To all people working for relief, on site or remote, you are the true heroes of this world that show that humanity is not a lost cause. You have my everlasting respect.
For all supporters (including The People project, regardless of my suggestion) thank you for your attention and any effort you make to help the rescue and relief interventions stay in the front of everyone's mind. We must not forget, after this region is rebuilt, there will be a next one waiting just across the sea in the North... Where more people die and more homes are destroyed, and who also depend on the very same heroes. So we need to keep supporting them to allow them to keep working long after the last body has been recovered from the rubble in Turkey and Syria.
As for the procrastination of the Turkish government: it seems to be symptomatic of their reign lately. A religious person might see this as a sign or some kind of punishment for their habit of delaying things to try and get every drop out of the barrel. Expedite decisions and choose a side. Do not dwell on petty issues because as you have seen, thousands of people will perish if you do. Lives that would have been saved had you taken swift and decisive action. No more delays.
Don't repeat the same mistake again, because the biggest loss of life comes from exactly that: the Turkish leadership repeated the mistake from the 90s, didn't learn anything from the 99 quake and left things as they were in order to spend the budget on other things rather than on long-term solutions for citizen's lives. It is only very unfortunate that those responsible for those choices are not directly affected by the disaster. Innocent people will always pay dearly for the stupidity of a few selfish powermongers. 😢
Sorry, why is this narrating woman talking so f'ed up? It's so weird and i can't say why exactly. it's hitting my ear wrong.
Maybe it's because you're black?
I hope the world is helping here as they are helping with Ukraine's war.
Considering how little I've heard about this on the news, I doubt it
They won't gain anything from it, if they help these victims.
Ukraine war (and other wars in the world) is good for the weapon industry.
US sent 100 billions to Ukraine and I haven’t heard about the help with earthquake
God is brutal and cruel
You mean Mother Nature? God isn’t real it’s like Bigfoot or ghosts no evidence.
No he isn't.
Does HAARP have anything to do with this?
No.
You know we have an idiom which says "Komşusu açken tok yatan bizden değildir." Literally translates to "The one who can sleep fed up while his neighbour is in need is not one from us". And also another one "Bir elin verdiğini diğeri bilmemeli" translates again to "One hand must not know what the other hand gave" about the aid. But in that case it was urgent and dire situation. For example, I am an ordinary campervan person organised to send more than 40 campervans into area. Again arranged 2 huge RO-RO ships in the Ports of Sete in France and Trieste in Italy in case if we can find some from the countries like Germany or Europe in general. Unfortunately.
As usual, some of the most impactful world journalism I've seen in my life. My condolences to everyone in the affected area. Thanks for your great work.
The VO sounds like shes voicing an ad for an adult website
Nah, children films. Not enough moaning in the inflections for pron narration 😂
Exactly, thins was the only thing that held me from fully diving into this sad story. :-/
The woman narrator talks like she is reading a tale in the kindergarten.
i thought the same thing, i can't stand her voice and the inflection in it
@@OhHamburgers0258 Stopped watching after 10 minutes, she sounds so unnatural i can't bear it.
@@bkorodi1797 i made it to 5:51! I win! ;)
I want the same tranquillisers that she is on.
@Christian Habermann Then you completely missed the point, because she overacts so much like a theatre actress.
No offense, but i had a hard time listening to the female narrator, i felt like she wanted to bring over the tragedy but it just turned into a bookreading for toddlers.
Who is the female Disney translator..sounds like she’s explaining her magical adventure
this narrator made me turn the video off
After listening the narrator I am back to my kindergarten school
Real fuckin journalism. Right on man I love your content.
The woman speaking is amazing but she’s overemphasising & acting to mainstream
Again… Kudos to the channel you’ve done more journalism for the people than journalism has ever done !
The man crying in front of the shop, I just want to hug him! To sit with him & hold his hand. It’s heartbreaking to watch from my bedroom in America. Dear Jesus, please help these suffering people.
Watching from 🇨🇦. Your work is amazing.
Just so you’re aware @The People , I was planning on sharing the video but if I can’t stand the voice, I don’t think many others can.
Most comments here are about the annoying narration, video looked good but how can anyone watch it without sound?? I don't really feel like watching some other video about it since this one destroyed that inital curiosity about " The People Project " rather watch porn and eat some food
I do feel sorry for them they're human just like us and we all have to stick together Humanity can be great such a tragedy
Are you mentally ill or something? "they're human just like us" No shit they're human.
I sincerely believe this was a man main event. The King of Kings will not turn a blind eye to this wickedness.
I feel so sad for these people who survived
May your loved ones RIP🙏😪
Why are we sending bombs and tanks to the other side of the world when a literal ally of ours is suffering such a tragedy? Instead of weapons of war, send excavators, tents, generators, and medicine. Heartbreaking.
Ally? Turkey is benefiting the war and made no sanctions to russians, they can even open bank accounts. They chosed russian side and now EU sends them money...
Wow thats crazy, God bless Turkey and renew their land with love and light
Our hearts are with the people of Turkey, from Serbia
My prayers go out to these people this is very sad to see
Praying for all of you guys. What a tragedy.
im sorry but i cannot watch this video, this voice makes me feel like im watching a movie more than a documented journalism
Oh my God....
Normally I like your videos, but it's extremely disrespectful to plug your patreon over over clips of the victims while playing sad music. It comes across as if you care more about money than the story by doing that.
About Syria, why you wouldnt mentioned US sanctions? That is the main reason of lack of aid.
I do like your work though, but we have to be real here.
Turkish Goverment already finished 15 thousands New Apartments for Syrian Earthquake victims all Free \ without any paidback o something. Lots of families on living up there, Location is Near to Aleppo city. (İ dont remember spesificly arabic name's, But get google it youll find it)
I'm waiting for the video of the Yakuza that are active members !! Can't wait for it I hope your still going to make it . Loved the last video
😢 So very sad!! In times like that, u wonder if ur better off being a survivor or not....well at least I do. They will ALL be in my prayers 🙏❤
24:32 Young guy was cute what a waste 😢❤
are you planning on reporting Syria as well? They were hit even worse because due to sanctions help is few and far between
It's good when the people help each other god bless them all ...
Come do the Ohio derailed train bro!
Jesus Christ. This is So sad. Businesses would not be putting out extension cords for you to charge your phone here in the US. It’s every man for themself here in America. Especially if you don’t have money.
You also wouldn't be lying out in the cold after such a disaster in the US. You'd be in a hospital or shelter. But please, continue complaining about how horrible America is.
🇯🇲🔥
Lol that’s what Turkey gets
just wonder! What kind of monster you are?
How do you know the people you love won't suddenly die? Trust me, cemeteries are full of assholes who say, "This will never happen to me."
The worst ones are people like you.
But Turks are very different people. From the moment you read this article, you will see that everything in your life is going upside down.
my dear friend! The only cure for a bad heart is Suffering. He is the best teacher and he will educate you too. 🤘🏻
My heart goes out to these people. Hopefully there able to save more.
oh my god.... This makes me sad af.... :( I don´t really favor turkish people, but this is too much. I hope that it will settle soon.
