Nice review. I've had this one for three years and it's just a great watch. Nailed the key features, case shape, size, that domed sapphire and that dial. The numbers initially catch the eye, but it's the deep gloss black dial that, even now, keeps me glancing down - not even reading the time. Quite a testament after this time with it.

Blanchard Watch Company - That's a cracking looking piece. It took me a while to notice the differences TBH - maybe because Oris nailed the original design with the date at the 6. Those orange highlights do play well though. The Topper design Oris would be a good buy for a collector I reckon. $ in the bank. Too rich for me unfortunately. Thanks for the interesting read.
I can completely get your enthusiasm for your watch. Just last week I bought Rado's newly released Captain Cook in Bronze. It to is vintage inspired back to their original Captain Cook of 1962. Mine is green. I think green matchs the bronze perfectly. I to plan on playing with straps. If the watch had a falt it's the strap it's leather and not that robust and leather really belong on a diver. Even though mine probably won't see any more diving than yours. I liked your rubber strap. Can you provide the manufacturer.
Hi Robert, great stuff with that Rado, good looking timepiece indeed, especially in the green bronze combo..wow. As for the strap, it is only a cheap ebay one for now until the Tropic straps i ordered arrive cheers mate
It's got a lovely vintage look. Better than Oris' other version of the 65 without doubt. It's the numerals that do it for me. Not unlike the vintage zodiac sea-wolf. Enjoy.
Hi Peter - It's a beauty, almost bought it new, but was a little disappointed with the finish of the metal bracelet. Opted at the time for a Breitling Super Ocean Heritage 1 on mesh (although higher cost). I still though want this charming Oris. Another great review. Regards, JP (LA)
Gorgeous watch, I've got mine on a vintage leather 1931rios strap. When I first got mine I took it on holiday in the sea and the bezel got completely jammed , spent 20 minutes soaking it and trying to work the bezel free, so I won't take it in the sea again but a fantastic looking watch, a definite keeper. 👍
Thanks for sharing Jason, I will definitely make sure I won't go into the ocean with this..:). Actually I purchased it because of its looks and size (the way it wears) really pleased. I have many cheaper divers watches I take on holiday switch me and swimming etc. Thanks again for the feedback, cheers

Hiya Peter. Jeez I love that piece. I think that, out of its style contempories; the Blancpain 50 fathoms & the Rado Captain Cook, this is my favourite. I certainly makes the 50 fathoms look unnecessarily pricey,...in its own way. I love that the bezel insert is aluminium - a vintage styled watch should patina like a vintage watch IMO. The way that sloped dial makes the lume squares sorta look like trapezoids, that crystal? It's so frickin beautiful! Everything just...works. Good luck with the straps mate. You're right - that thing will look great on so many straps. Cheers, Anthony.
Hi Anthony, well said again mate, i almost purchased the Captain Cook last week, there was a local guy selling one, i missed out and then this came up..now I am happy as Larry, as they say ..LOL Thanks again for the feedback, always welcomed , cheers
Peter Kotsa - The Captain Cook is pretty special too! ...and I forgot about the Zodiac Sea Wolf in my little comparison! I'd be proud to own any of those watches, but the Oris is the 'Goldilocks' I reckon. If the captain Cook isn't as in your face vintage as the Oris, the Zodiac is more so. Thanks for the sub! Welcome aboard and I have already responded to some of your comments on my other videos, good to se a vast range in your collection, great stuff :)
The oris diver 65 definitely has a great personality and very unique. I have the dark blue and black variant with the tropic rubber strap. The RRP is quite high at 2100 USD but I picked it from my AD for around 1100 USD in 2018 and at that price it is definitely very good value. They could have moved the "swiss made" below without interrupting the minute markers, the strap should have had 2 loops instead of one and lume could have been stronger. However, overall a lovely watch and such a pleasure to wear it.
great stuff, you definetly grabbed a bargain at that price point. As for the swiss made, I don't mind the way they have integrated it into the minute markers, that is very intelligent design. With the tropic strap, I did not realise it only came with one loop. I purchased mine with a leather strap and I ended up getting an aftermarket Borealis tropic, sits beautifully now. As for the lume..well its no where near my Seiko divers that's for sure:) Thanks again for the feedback, cheers
Great review Peter. I actually have this one on a bracelet and you’ve perfectly described the charms of this beautiful wrist watch. One of the many elements I enjoy of this Oris are the dimensions and that 40mm diameter is spot on for me. In an earlier video you were showing a Seiko Presage Diver that I really like the look of but with a 41.3 diameter I’m not so sure. Any thoughts about that?
Hi Dean, thanks for the feedback. That Seiko with a 41.3mm diameter has a case diameter of 40mm and a thin profile as well. So in reality it actually wears really nicely. The lugs are the only thing that are slightly on the longer side (being vintage aspired) however it sits really well and I find myself wearing it daily for many hours with no problems. Hope that helps, cheers mate
Thanks Sean, I just swapped out the strap on this today and I could not be happier with the watch now. Here is a link too the video with the new strap : ruclips.net/video/CEQMhRPcFk0/видео.html Thanks for the feedback, cheers
Which strap?..the cheaper silicon (orange / black) on the left of the video or the ones on the right (Blue/Black)? Either way they al came from China, as for a link, I got these a while ago and then I purchased the Borealis (early last year some stage..)
Those weird numerals don't look so appealing in catalogue photos, but when you see them through the distortion at the edge of the crystal you know this is the 65 to get.
Hi Shaun I agree mate, in person the watch looks even better thank the photos. You find yourself constantly looking at this dial on different angels to take in the amazing view it produces..they've done a top job, cheers
Right on, I have been swapping out straps all week and this watch suits anything I have thrown at it so far..really pleased. Also another interesting observation, all week it has not gained or lost 1 second in its wearing...that has surprised me indeed.
@@PeterKotsa I've been bidding and bought some nice vintage watches on catawicki are there any other sites that you know of apart from ebay...I know of chrono 24...any others
Hi Ryan, I have placed the watch on a timegrapher and it reads -3 sec at 5 different positions (face up, face down, crown up, crown down etc). In practice though it is running spot on time. After a week on the wrist I am not gaining or loosing any seconds whatsoever. I think Oris must regulate this model as the results are surprising. cheers
I have the exact variant and it's the only one I would buy from Oris. I picked a new one for about 1100 usd from an AD in 2018. For that price I feel it was good value. Lot of people like this one with steel bracelet... But I felt the contrast and look offered by the tropical strap was most appealing.
The problem I have with the Oris diver 65 is that Oris is maximizing their margin by by using a standard-grade Sellita SW200-1 movement. No finishing at all, no regulation, the cheapest version of the sw-200 movement, just the red rotor. Optically it sits right but it is too expensive new.
I have to agree with you Cedar on that point. This is one of the main reasons i try to purchase a particular watch like this on the pre-owned market as the asking price for NEW does not justify the caliber, I agree. Now in saying that, I have had this watch on the timegrapher and it is yielding very consistent results, I am getting +/- 2 sec per day consistently...it hasn't missed a beat thus far. As you know It is a preowned watch, so the movement has been used for 2 years, the owner has never opened it or had it serviced. Maybe Oris do regulate certain models and not others who knows?
I sure do love the looks of this (and others) Oris Diver 65. But the one thing I don't understand is why some respectable (Swiss) brands sell "DIVERS" watches which aren't suitable for diving, with only 100m or 200m water resistance. Why not 300m or above water resistant or even better an ISO Diving 200m certification? These watches cost over a 1000 dollars, but a little investment for a 200m ISO diver rating or 300m+ regular rating is to much? Seiko can do it on its 200 bucks SKX, Citizen does it on their 200 dollar automatic and ecodrive drivers, 400$ Orient Neptune? 200m DIVERS rating, $300 Phoibus Ocean Master: 1000m, etc... $1400 Oris: 100m... Better keep it at a safe distance from the shower or bathtub, because this "diver" is afraid of getting wet...
haha, nicely said, and I was planning on going for a bath just now..LOL I agree with you though, it does seem a little rough to not include certification for a pricey 'diver'. Everything Swiss is simply more expensive, it always has been and probably always will be.. The Japanese know how to make an entry level diver for the layman, thats why we all have an SKX or Turtle etc Thanks again for your feedback, cheers

Peter I know you mentioned this was a cheap ebay strap. But do you have a specific link to it? It looks exactly like what I was looking for...
Which strap?..the cheaper silicon (orange / black) on the left of the video or the ones on the right (Blue/Black)?
Either way they al came from China, as for a link, I got these a while ago and then I purchased the Borealis (early last year some stage..)
@@PeterKotsa the black one on your ORIS diver 65. im looking for that patterned rubber/silicon strap. Great channel btw. :)
Look good on a black nylon Perlon strap, it would fit with that vintage look...
I'll have to order some Perlon's , thanks for the feedback :)
If Oris could match that dial with the bronze bezel and bracelet l would take out a loan to buy it.
Hi Derek, now that would be an interesting watch indeed...good call :)
Excellent photos. 😎
Many thanks Karen, cheers
my friend could you share the link for that rubber strap? (@0:18)
greetings from Mexico!
Hi Ernest, I got it from ebay...its just a generic rubber one
cheers from Australia
Great watch and review
Thanks Tobias, I appreciate the feedback, cheers
Great review again. Where did you get the rubber strap?
ebay relatively cheap one for now until I get some tropics straps for it
Those weird numerals don't look so appealing in catalogue photos, but when you see them through the distortion at the edge of the crystal you know this is the 65 to get.
Hi Shaun I agree mate, in person the watch looks even better thank the photos. You find yourself constantly looking at this dial on different angels to take in the amazing view it produces..they've done a top job, cheers
Seriously cool is right. I'd almost, _almost_ rather wear this than a Sub, and definitely prefer it to a 6 digit sub any day of the week.
Right on, I have been swapping out straps all week and this watch suits anything I have thrown at it so far..really pleased. Also another interesting observation, all week it has not gained or lost 1 second in its wearing...that has surprised me indeed.
@@PeterKotsa Excellent 👍
The rubber strap its from Seiko 5KX right? :)
No, this is just a cheap ebay strap for now, I have ordered some Tropic straps for this watch and waiting for them to arrive. cheers
Nice commentary peter, was it expensive...mike in cardiff
Thanks Mike, no not too bad, the watch needs a clean up as it has some fine scratches on it, so i picked it up at a decent price, cheers
@@PeterKotsa I've been bidding and bought some nice vintage watches on catawicki are there any other sites that you know of apart from ebay...I know of chrono 24...any others
Got one! Love it! Great watch! Good review!
This watch is a TEN! I ESPECIALLY like the numerals inside the lume plots.
I agree...
What accuracy have you experienced with this piece?
Hi Ryan, I have placed the watch on a timegrapher and it reads -3 sec at 5 different positions (face up, face down, crown up, crown down etc). In practice though it is running spot on time. After a week on the wrist I am not gaining or loosing any seconds whatsoever.
I think Oris must regulate this model as the results are surprising.
cheers
Peter Kotsa thank you
How can I find this strap? thx
It is just a cheap eBay find, nothing special, I have it not the watch temporarily until some of the other straps I ordered arrive. cheers
That’s a groovy watch!
Thanks Robert :)
It's a beauty.
I love this piece
Its.super.comfy
Hey! How much is a good price for a pre-owned one ? Stay safe !
They should fetch around $1500 AUD in top condition, cheers
Great watch. How did you find the seller?
Hi Craig, I accidentally stumbled onto the listing on eBay. He is a local guy so I was happy to buy it. cheers
@@PeterKotsa brilliant piece, enjoy
LOVE IT :)
Thanks Phil. It looks better in real life, especially outside, it shines
Nice looking
Thanks :)
All I can say Peter is....🤤😍
LOL, thanks Andrew :)
Peter Kotsa sometimes words are not necessary!🤣 Honestly I couldn’t type anyway with all the dribble!😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@andrewd7586 hahaha, really cool Andrew, you made me laugh today and your'e absolutely right, words were not necessary, bless you mate :)
My heart says Oris, my head says Rado😓
Better keep it at a safe distance from the shower or bathtub, because this "diver" is afraid of getting wet...
haha, nicely said, and I was planning on going for a bath just now..LOL
I agree with you though, it does seem a little rough to not include certification for a pricey 'diver'. Everything Swiss is simply more expensive, it always has been and probably always will be..
The Japanese know how to make an entry level diver for the layman, thats why we all have an SKX or Turtle etc
Thanks again for your feedback, cheers
Legend
Cheers Bryce
Cracking good looker and good movement...elephant in the room, only 100M? No thanks Mate.
Ok as a beater to do the gardening. Just a bit dull.
Hi Ivan, what sort of watch do you like, brand and styling, cheers Peter
But why. Why only 100m WR? Why?
A Blog to Watch took it to 30-40 meters with no problems reported. If you're going deeper, then maybe 100 isn't enough.
I know a few have commented the same thing, but honestly, when was the last time any of us took our watches beyond 5 meters depth?
Is someone all in buying lately??? Mate enjoy this one (...also) but isn't your collection expanding like my mum's butt???? hahahahaha
Anyway. liked 65 since it came out, but strangely enough something always keeps me away. Don't know what, but it's a last glance..nah! Lovely all around, ticks all the boxes but...nah! My biggest problem though is that this is happening with almost all Oris's watches!!!! Top noch in all aspects but..nah!!!! Weirdo me? Who knows!!? There is only one (- "F@ck! Dude! Wow!" -) watch by them, the Oris Artelier Thelonious Monk LE, check it out, plain af but with a great twist as the artist was too...!!!
Salutes from Crete mate, hope you're fully enjoying your new purchases and you're having a great -up!- time..down under! LOL
You leave my mums butt out of this...LOL
Now that the weather is getting colder here in OZ, I know where I would rather be, Crete for sure..
Thanks for the laugh this morning, appreciate it..haha
