I made this work work your video! Identical car. My fog lights work and look great! I like the custom switch on my dash. I used what was around getting wires through the firewall, hand lotion and a grabby tool.

Just one thing dough ... at least on my 2010 prius hatch , to cut that tube on the firewall was extremely hard, very tight access.
But overall, very nice tutorial .

I’ve ordered the lights and am going to give it a try. Any advice for removing the panel with the cigarette lighter? It looks like it can be pried out from underneath.
Steve Zarzour: If you can't get a plastic pry bar under it, try starting it by using a long screwdriver or bar to push it from behind.
ScubaMoto ok will do. Have been looking at that grommet in the firewall and I’m wondering what’s the best way to reach it. It looks pretty tight from above and below under the hood. In the video you mentioned cutting the cap, you think I could just drill it out from the inside and just catch the fish on the other side?

Rice Burner: The seller for the ones in the video is long gone but the links in the video description are well reviewed. The install harness and process for a gen-4 is the same but for a gen 4 kit, you used to have to replace the grill with one that has fog light cut-outs and then use a gen-3 fog light kit. They're a bit pricier, but now there are several kits that fit into the gen-4 by replacing the fog light plates. This one should do the trick: amzn.to/3sxiDhf Thanks for the question and for sharing.
I have all the time I need during this pandemic to get these lights in.
I'm having a lot of trouble snipping off the tube on the pass-thru. I can just barely fit my hand in there from the engine compartment side, but cannot get a tool in there along with my hand.
Can you tell me how you did it, please?

Kathleen Ward: Yeah it's pretty crowded in there. I used a pair of wire cutter pliers to snip off the end of the tube. You could also lock a pair of Vise grip type pliers onto the end and then cut it with a razor or utility knife. Just take your time getting the tool to the tube and then slowly find a path for your hands to get through the crowded engine compartment to the firewall. I have big hands so I struggled a bit weaving through things but finally got a good position for the snip. Congrats on starting the project.

You can also follow the hood latch cable by going through the (US/left) driver’s side wheel well.
You have to remove the wheel (jack it up, I used the supplied scissor jack), remove the large plastic housing that goes between the wheel and the engine compartment, then you should see the grommet for the hood release cable, and you can follow it back through to the engine compartment beteeen the headlight and main fuse box (again, US, so driver on left side of vehicle).
It’s good to have an supply kit of plastic and metal connectors (the snap-together holders) for engine compartment and trim as they get brittle and like to break.

I removed the two screws under the car, but the skid plate won’t come off? Looks like theirs more screws to remove....
Awesome! Gave me confidence & insight to install on my Prius V. You mentioned that you connected the lights to the accessory outlet, but since it's going through a relay, theoretically, it should be able to connect to a constant power source (fuse box, etc). Did you connect both the lighted switch & fog light power to the accessor outlet just in case relay didn't work? Thanks.
Patrick Nguyen: Yes, power to: 1-light the switch and, 2-power the relay both come from the AUX power source that shuts off with the ignition. As mentioned in the video, the reason (and advantage) of connecting to a power source that is not always on is to eliminate the risk of ever leaving the lights on when exiting the vehicle. That wreaks havoc on Prius charge systems and it's very easy to do when using them as daytime running lights. And simply connecting to the headlight power source might overload that circuit, blow a fuse and then you would have no main lights or emergency back up lights. I hope that helps.

My mother needs additional light while driving at night. Do you think it'd be possible to install the units into place, but forego installing the cabin switch and power and instead wire them in line with the low-beams?
Jordan McKittrick: I haven't tried that. I prefer keeping them separate. The bulbs supplied with the kits draw the same wattage as the headlights so you would be doubling the load on that circuit by splicing into it. You may blow a fuse or possibly create a headlight fault code on the computer. If you stick with lower wattage LED bulbs, you might get away with it. I honestly can't say for sure what would happen. I like having the option to turn them on or off and I like the switches that are supplied with the kits. The wiring supplied also includes its own fuse. I hope that helps and answers your question.
ScubaMoto thanks for getting back! Great video. What I’d be inclined to do is independently power the fog lights off the battery or fuse board and install a relay that’s triggered by the low-beams. That way my mom wouldn’t have to remember to turn them on.

16 should work. 14 even better. I already had wire on hand. Auto parts shops all have it or I've got links in the video description to get you started.
Did you ground to plastic?
Yes, of course. I used your Elmers Glue method. jk. Grounding inside the cab happens at 6:39 . Grounding of the light harness happens at 9:39 . Enjoy the install and thanks for the question.
@@ScubaMoto I appreciate the content and your response. I was mainly curious because both of those grounding points appear to be plastic, however i'm sure the power draw for this project is not too high anyways.
Got it. No, those ground points are both machine screws into grounded metal. They may be securing something plastic but they are both excellent tested ground points. I seriously didn't think you were serious so I replied accordingly.

setiop: My mistake. I thought you were referring to the Prius V. The non-V (regular 2014 Prius) fog light install requires a bit of grill work but this is the common kit - shop.priuschat.com/fog-light-kit-2012-2015-toyota-prius-oem/
The kit is a bit pricy because it includes a replacement grill with fog light cut-outs, fog lights, and the wiring harness kit that is similar to the one in the video. I have no connection to these kits. If you find a less expensive kit let us know and we'll be happy to share. I hope that helps
@@ScubaMoto I already bought a grill with fog hole from eBay so I just need a fog light. Can I just buy the Prius v fog light and install that on the grill ?
setiop: I believe you are correct on that. You will use the Prius V kit discarding only the bezel trim pieces. The rest will go to use as shown in the video. The single screw lights insert into your new grill the same way and the switch setup should be the same as shown in the video.
