      @maxbar64 That was kinda harsh. It's not a horrible tone, just not the correct one. The OP's playing is excellent, but if you're going to cover a Supertramp song, try to get in the neighborhood of Dougie Thomson's tone. You wouldn't cover Paul McCartney's flatwound Rickenbacker tone on a Beatles tune with a Chris Squire's growly/bright Ric tone.

    I wore this cassette out! Very nice cover and it's ridiculous that these "content owners" can't seem to understand that cover videos are beneficial to them. Shame on you, Roger Hodgson.

      Very cool! I’m curious as to why he’s relaxed his stance. Fleetwood Mac started backing off a few years ago when a guy on a skateboard, put out a viral video using one of their songs and it put their album back on the charts.

    Like many Troy Fans in here....we ALL knew that this video was from when you were in Junior High instead of your High School Senior Year Look you maintain in 2024! 🤣 I happen to resurrect this very tune less than 2 weeks ago to play myself, so it was a Deja Vu moment to see you post this. The "story" behind said posting is crazy and interesting to read. Having hung out on this channel for a few years now, myself and many in here know how cool and calm you are. But, getting the run around from The YT Gestapo Squad had to be frustrating even for you! Personally, I didn't think ANYONE could match Henley in his quest for100% Copyright Control Power! I'm back Troy! After a 5 or 6 year stint in Facebook prison for reasons not disclosed. Did you get any hassles from a damn dirty hippie for covering this song? LOL I better behave or I'll go back to Facebook prison. Kind of got used to it you might say I'm institutionalized LOL. Man you have been pumping them out Non-Stop your library must be in the thousands by now. Glad to see you're still around and making videos, a friend of mine in his early 60s who is a strong Burly badass just battle throat cancer and the chemo and radiation nearly killed him. Many months later he's still a bag of bones, but still with a fighting spirit

    Supertramp was a great band. Reminded me of ELP in a way but I always found it interesting that in the second bridge of the song out of NOWHERE they lyically slide when he's describing how people describe him that "say the devil is my saviour but I don't pay no heed". Just an odd lyrical line.

    • @TJH3113
      @TJH3113  10 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, but don't immediately make the ELP connection. I'll check out the line you mentioned, it sounds intriguing.

    • @Professional-fh1ow
      @Professional-fh1ow 10 месяцев назад

      @@TJH3113 The ELP comparison was the chord progressions and changes not so much the prog rock. Kinda like a riff in Joe Walsh's "Lifes Been Good" has a single riff outside of the bluesyness of the song that sticks out.

    man ive seen a handful of your covers and youre so technically efficent with rock solid fundamentals on bass. how long have you played? i hope to get as good as you, ive only played for a little more than a year but ive practiced almost everyday since. i have trouble being consistent on songs but overall i can play them 😅

    • @TJH3113
      @TJH3113  2 дня назад

      Thanks so much. I've been playing much longer than I care to admit... well over 40 years now. That's the key - just play as much as you can. Play things that are above your skill level, things that are at your skill level, and things that are beneath your skill level. Just keep playing.

    Hello, what kind of guitar is Yamaha TRBX174 for beginners?

    • @TJH3113
      @TJH3113  10 месяцев назад

      Hello. I looked it up and it looks like they sell for a little over $200. You can be a beginner on any bass you want. The idea of starting out on an inexpensive bass is so you don't lose out on too much in case you don't stay with it. I have an Ibanez Talman TMB100 that was a $200 bass and I love it! You really can't go wrong when buying something from one of the bigger name makers - Ibanez, Squier, Yamaha, Harley Benton, Sire... they all make decent instruments.

    that was an education, as ever, I dig how the figuring was following melodic motifs. Tell me more, when there's a descending line starting in Gb position is repeated two bars later but starts in the Ab, what's going on there? Is that a modal shift?

      Thanks. I think that because most of my favorite players used picks, I tried my best to emulate their tight, staccato attack. I have a video in my "Tutorials"? playlist where I talk about muting. It's pretty old, but I wouldn't say anything different today. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.
