Oh those Flemish skies! They have been an inspiration for so many painters, poets and recording artists! I invisage this courtyard, with the concrete egalised’ filled with tubs of flowers and a huge lounge set and an outdoor kitchen and a Bbq! You could keep the pigs drinking troffs with flowers and small scrubs! Would look lovely!

Hi Nicole, they are just amazing! This clean up was totally worth doing it just to have the possibility to film the sky.
I suggested exactly the same thing the pigs drinking troffs to Illia but we need to think over drainage system. Otherwise the flower roots will just keep rotten.

Sky watching is one of my favorite things to do ... the best free show on earth.
After you are done with your pipe laying, you could use your pressure washer to clean the dirt out from between the cobbles and then use a polymeric sand to replace, that will discourage plant growth. Just make sure there is none on the surface of the stones before wetting to lock in place.
I worry that vinegar will be hard on the terracotta.

I think you need to make a wooden 'seat' to put the tiles into and then hit them with a bolster Try to get the majority of the mortar off them (I'd do it on a table). A brick bolster would probably be better - it's made for the purpose that you need it for. Also, a large rectangular plastic tub that you can get more tiles into would be good and a sieve that you can use to clean the vinegar with after each soaking would mean you've got a good chance of getting through the lot.

Great job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽!!! I am so proud of the two...well four with your children! It makes me want to cry 🥲 when I see people all over the world saving historical homes and the time that goes into saving them!
On a business note...I noticed the 🐈 inspector watching you two working, but did not offer to help 🤭. When Illia (sic) sprayed water on the brick the 😸 inspector ran away! 🤣

The propane / butane torch is good, but like another viewer noted, industrial vinegar helps as well. But your going to be battling it forever until you solve the root problem, namely an environment for weed seeds. You'll need to brush out a 2 cm / 1 inch worth of material around each paver and backfill with sand with a small portion of lime mortar. Sweep between the gaps, remove the excess, and water. It will seal things up and the weed seeds don't have a friendly environment to sprout and grow.

Hi Ness, so glad our videos bring back good memories to you and are cheering you up! And many thanks for your kind words!
My husband always says: “Can you change it? - Yes? Do it! - No? Then forget and move forward. There are plenty of new possibilities.” These words always help me, I hope they will help you out of your depression as well :-) many hugs from Belgium!

White vinegar and a liquid soap mix is an effective weed killer. Easy to mix and works relatively fast. Great video.

Using the left over vinegar to pour on cobblestones will kill grass. Also drill holes in stumps and cover with cheap commercial fertilizer. Will eat stump. Not fast but it does work. Making wonderful progress. Property is amazing.

Hello. You should grab a can of spray paint and on one of those slabs left over from the pig barn make a 'four square court' for the kids. They bounce a tennis ball in and out of the squares, each player has to hit the ball out with their hand into the next square. You can play with two or four players. Would be hours of fun. I am sure the kids would know the game I am talking about. I hope your backs were okay after all of that hard work! Have a good week.

Hi Liane, I will tell the kids about this game, probably they know. Sounds great, thanks for sharing the idea!

I would take the pigs bowl as a pot for vegetables or just for flowers.

I like the propane method, not only kills the roots but any seeds as well. Only draw back is weed seeds float around so more will come. But you have a quick effective method now. Time to rent some equipment to assist with the concrete removal in the courtyard, a mini track loader will do the work of 5 people, rental rates in the states are not to expensive. An attachment with a bucket to scoop and load the debris into the container for hauling away. Will go much faster. Love your videos you are making amazing progress.
