The Bearded Burton , thanks. I feel like a lot of people either over complicate things or carry stuff they really don’t know how to use. And of course the 80lb bug out bag...
Strong video Justin. Appreciate your practical approach as always. I get that it's a short-term/get home bag, but I would add a couple Clif bars and a Sawyer mini in case it takes a little longer to get back. Just my 2¢. I've got the same bag. I use it mostly as a range bag, but have thought of using it as an EDC/get home bag. I've got a get home bag in each vehicle, but I really need to add one for each family member, at least some basic items.
justa guy, yeah stuff like that really goes into knowing yourself and your skills. For me, I run on nicotine, caffeine, and/ or hate. Lol. But seriously, when I’m busy, I don’t even think about food until after a day or so.
I agree, but out bags and get home bags are very subjective. So much depends on the individuals skillset/skill level, area and terrain, perceived threats, etc... that it’s hard to make a definitive packing list for people. That’s why I’ve somewhat stayed away from doing a video on it myself. Good points on a number of things though. I carry multiple lights as well for example. More often than not I’ll probably need a low lumen light for navigation and searching more than a high lumen defensive light.
Alpha Charlie Concepts absolutely agree. I’ve been asked for years to do a video on this and really want to drive home the “it depends” part. Too many people out there just trying to sell people crap.
For the high vis paracord I like the glow in the dark version. atwoodrope.com/collections/glow-in-the-dark/products/550-paracord-uber-glow Shows up pretty good in the day time too since it's white (unless there's snow). I also carry a camo face paint kit, which is only about 2x3 inches. I use the paint for hunting but really it's primary purpose is to provide a mirror to get shit out of my eyes. A compass with a mirror is nice for that too. The other thing is a couple of the individually packed Tylenols. Headache sucks when you're stressed to begin with.
Excellent common sense approach. I learned a few things. Love those fieldline bags. Affordable
The Prepared Wanderer thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome job man, I like the common sense approach.
