LEWIS TOLD MERCEDES THE ISSUES

  • Drive to Survive Season 6, Lewis is FURIOUS with Mercedes' rear wing design! 😤 He calls it a "barn door" and blames it for their lack of straight-line speed. 💨
But wait, haven't they been using this design for YEARS? 🤔 What gives, Mercedes? 🤯

He refused to get into the car until it was changed. So in the end they did and they stripped his engine apart and found a hairline crack in the crankshaft and the engine would have failed during the race.

Ken Miles drove it and gave feedback to Shelby. Shelby implemented the changes suggested by Miles and together they came up with the car to beat. All Lewis is asking for is a Shelby to his Miles.

If Mercedes all of a sudden has a car in ‘26 that’s 2 minutes faster than everyone else that will prove Mercedes and Toto is the biggest sham and sellout worse than Cheatbull.
I work for Mercedes store and the brand is suffering heavily. Can’t sell their cars or even give away electric cars. It wasn’t like that pre 2021. I honestly believe that both Lewis and the lady were right.
When the lady said they knew what they were doing, Lewis finally understood... the team had no intention of giving him a championship-winning car. That's why that was an interesting moment to him.
I believe that realization triggered his desire to be elsewhere,... and Ferrari was probably his best choice.
Listen carefully to what Lewis said at mid-season when and he and team spoke again. "Oh maybe you're right!"

Nobody. I've worked in a race team, nobody knows better than the drivers.
SOMETIMES they do miss things, but they're rarely wrong about something being majorly wrong with a car.
I have my own small story about that. Two experienced engineers and driver design a shifter linkage. They ended up with a shifter that was massively stiff, was buckling the linkage when shifting.
Turns out they collectively took some wrong measurements and that led us to do a total redesign of when we got the correct numbers. We then ended up with a shifter that was TOO easy to shift, then on the third iteration we got it right.
The driver in that case started off being totally wrong, then helped us get back on track.
