Midi control is a *major* upgrade for this unit. I’ve been on the boss DD series for over 20 years and have no reason to change since the 500 came out…but it always shocks me when companies release new digital delays/verbs with no way of swapping patches with your controller/switcher/etc. If there’s any effect that you need to switch quickly, accurately and often, it’s your time-based stuff. Line 6 did it right with this unit 🤙
I have been wanting to get a second DL4 for my rig. I don’t get excited about new gear but I will definitely be getting one of these. Especially since it is smaller and 9v.
I already have a delay for my synths, but this one can receive MIDI clock, which would be a nice feature to have. If it can simulate crazy self-oscillation a la MXR Carbon Copy, I might have to get this.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! The DL4 is one of my favorite pedals of all time. Unfortunately, mine that I had been using for over a decade and had some mods broke during an incident when I was moving a few months ago. Seeing this made me so excited! This has everything I loved about my DL4, everything I loved about my mods, and way more! I'm so stoked!!!
This looks really great. Using a Tele was a great idea as it really demonstrates the effect. I unboxed my new HX Stomp yesterday and grabbed my Baja as it was the ax most immediately available and it really did work great for trying it out.
Not so for me , I think it looks fugly 😂 seriously though the curve on the original allowed way better access to the foot pedals. Still sounds great though 👍
@eyesintheskies to each their own right? The original was so easily bustable in my opinion, but I also didn't use it for the tap delay or anything so the one tap worked well for me

looks amazing, but wont fit my pedal board. the Helix stomp is too pricey for what I need, and Im really working on a small footprint unit like the plethora. I just need delays modulations reverbs like you do in a regular small pedals, but in a small one for the return loop. I still need something that can make modulation effects. This is a great delay unit.
Hi, ludblight. If you're using the full 4-button looper then all of the switches are dedicated to that and you wouldn't be able to select delay presets while using it. There is still a basic delay that is part of the looper mode so you can still have some delay while using that. You can also assign the tap switch to be a simple 1-button looper so you could use that and still have access to your delay presets. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com
Hope somebody can help me with this... I like to get this pedal for my guitar and want a basic drum pad to make in too the loops is this possible with the midi out from this unit and any budget friendly reccomandations?
Thanks for your interest! You can get an external pad or controller to trigger the looper functions in the DL4 MKII, as well as control presets. If you have an external drum looper you could send MIDI clocking info in to the DL4 MKII to sync the tempo up, too. Hopefully this answers your question, but feel free to reach out to me directly if I can help further! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Will a 300mA output from a Walrus Audio Phoenix PSU be enough to power this? I know the PSU included is 500mA but sometimes the actual draw is less... (Here's hoping for an easy life with cables eh..?)
Hey, parse! Great question and thanks for your interest. Yes, you can still run those effects while running the looper. You can even select pre or post effects in the global settings. In pre-effects mode you will hear the effects while recording, but the effects are not captured and in post-effects mode you’ll capture the actual effects along with the dry signal. Hi, gsanchez90. Yes, this could be done with an expression pedal. You could set it up so that in the heel position the delay mix is completely off, and then as you sweep the pedal up you also bring up the delay mix. You could also do it by creating two different presents. One with just reverb and another with the delay you want added. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com
@@gsanchez90 also, to give a more basic response, if you noticed in the video all of the control knobs control the delay parameters by default, but holding down that alt button turns them into controls for the reverb parameters. I imagine you could just take the delay completely out of the mix with the control knob all the way on the right hand side of the pedal. then mix the reverb back in while turning that same knob in the opposite direction while holding down the alt button. Then if you just want to go through the different types of reverbs available to you, you would hold down that alt button while turning the dial all the way on The left hand side of the pedal. I really hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you need any clarification.
Hi, MonaraKudumbiya. It has a Dual Delay mode that will introduce a second delay line but you can't do two different delay sounds at the same time. You can add reverb to any of the delay sounds, including the Dual Delay mode. Thanks for your interest!
