Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Daniel 3:28
Summary of the sermon:
Babylon took the people of the kingdom of Judah as captives. At that time, the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, took the smartest young people from Judah to make them workmen for Babylon. Among them, there were Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They believed in God. Nebuchadnezzar served an idol. He built a tall and golden idol on the ground and declared “If anyone who does not bow down to this tall and golden idol will be put to the fiery furnace.”
So when there were sounds of the instruments, everyone went to the idol and bowed down to it. But Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not bow down to it because they only believed in the living God and God was the one they had to serve. Nebuchadnezzar thought they ignored him so he got angry and said to them, “Bow down to the idol I made. If you don’t, I will put you all into the fiery furnace.” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego said to the king, “God will get us out of the fiery furnace. We will never bow down to the idol you made.”

As he heard what they said, he got irritated so he put them into the fiery furnace. But the king got surprised because he saw them not dead but still alive in the fiery furnace. Nebuchadnezzar brought them out of the fiery furnace. They did not get hurt at all. The king and his people recognized God and started lifting him up.

God helped Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who only believed in him. Likewise, since we believe in God as well, he will never leave us. He will always be with us and protect us all. So, we must not forget that God is always with us.
Prayer:
Father God. Thank you for your grace and love. Let us not forget that you are always with us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
