- A 10 min review of the main differences between the Sideshow Premium Format and the XM Collectibles Black Widows. Aesthetic preferences aside this looks at the main differences between the two and examines whether XM at RRP is worth the extra cash/what do you invest in?
Disclaimer: PRICE QUOTED IS RRP in 2014/at preorder. Aware that the XM piece is currently being sold in the aftermarket at a much higher price limiting choice BUT going forward this may give you more information to the question of whether an XM PO is worth it to you?

Epic video my brother!! This for me is not a hard pick even though for me personally i prefer mixed media on my pieces and feel a piece is not complete without it!! (even a small amount makes a difference!!) but that's me!! The xm piece is ridiculous and has every option you could wish for!! The light feature is so subtle but well thought out and the bust extra is genius!! I prefer the sideshow likeness, price and mixed media but that's the only boxes I can tick fairly!! This video was needed brother so on behalf of collectors all over the world thank you!!
Your summary is correct in every way Geo. The portrait sculpt is best on the SS also for me to BUT as always they run that excellence with mediocre paint jobs lately
Great review. XM without doubt currently miles ahead of sideshow. I am very jealous of you having this xm piece as she is lovely. I have been thinking about the GG option except there's something about the face on that one that doesn't seem right to me. Really enjoyed the video though mate :)
No, I'm planning on ordering one on Monday from a friend in Singapore, but one guy in a chat video had a defective one. He said it leaned 8mm a day due to it being too heavy and only having the one peg. Just wanted to check with some collectors who had her already to see if it was a common occurrence. Thanks buddy!
Nice comparison Gas, but really, the Sideshow piece is just outclassed in every way. Any issues with your XM Black Widow? I've seen one that was leaning horribly to its right after just a few weeks. How long have you had yours? Any issues yet?
Luckily no not at all Gun. Mines fine. Have you contacted your supplier or XM about this. Their service when some Mk 42s turned up damaged seemed very good for collectors.
Also although there's a traditional metal plug into the bottom of the base for her left foot, the right one rests in a platform heel shaped groove (at least on the big wall) so not sure why listing to one side?
Great review and both are awesome pieces to own. My own thoughts I always prefer as little mixed media on my statues as possible for display purposes so the XM or even Gentle Giant would be my first choice over Sideshow. But if XM's edition size was 2500 would this statue still be desirable? My own thoughts is XM should increase the edition size so us real collectors get a chance of owing these stunning sculptures instead of the flippers sending the prices sky high
really nice statue and so many options...not crazy about the faces...but the long hair version is nice enough (for the XM) everything else is so immersive it's hard to be overly critical....SO many options and cool extras and little additions....XM really got INTO it on this one/...the Sideshow headsculpt really looks great....but the statue overall feels a little lack luster compared to the XM...the belt is kind of drab...and even the arm bands look a little weird....I did notice the hands on the XM are not great...(some) not bad...but a little funky. great stuff..I've be VERY happy with either when it comes down to it..but just being hyper critical those would be my observations./ great channel I subscribed and of course added a like. :)
+blasterkid 2014 Completely agree. It could be improved (and indeed has been by one custom portrait limited to an ES of 2 lol) but its a seriously lovely statue otherwise and although I have sold my Magneto (not an easy decision) this one remains still
