Ya boi ZOOTED!
That woman has some 'crisp, golden sales tactics.' Matthew came for Sorrel then he walked away with Bananas "oh yes I might get hungry later, right?" He agrees with the sales lady and adds the unexpected Bananas! Then sum1 random recommends Ginger for Ginger beer, so that too gets added! I love these videos, they just have a happy well put together vibe!
Doret is so beautiful and peace I would love to see more of her and she could share her recipes!!
Me too would like to see more of Dorett.
Sorrel is an iconic Christmas drink in the Caribbean. It's a tart, flavorful, spice-infused "iced tea". Sometimes it's brewed with sugar and yeast and left to foment for weeks to make a strong liquor. It has a very unique flavor. I'm tempted to say it tastes like cranberry and strawberry combined but even that wouldn't be an accurate description of its taste.
Oh God BLESS you Carribean Man.. mi Love off di sorrel wid ginger
Nah to say strawberry and cranberry wouldn't do it justice...I cant put my finger on the taste but I'd never decline sorrel with a bit of rum in it 🤙🏽
Sorrel!!!#Guyana#ThisChannelRocks!!!😀😀

The most famous drink during Christmas time in Jamaica....
So true
Also the most popular drink in St. Vincent and the Grenadines at Christmas time. I find the black sorrel is richer than the red kind.

It's funny but we call it in Mexico JAMAICA FLOWER, it's so refreshing taste like lime juice, we drink this beverage all year long, also is amazing the amount of health benefits of it, help you to loose weight, control you sugar levels, help you to improve you sight etcetera...
Hibiscus flowers
Yea ive been to mexico a few times and i see it in the grocery store. they do call it Jamaica flower
In cuba we also call it flor de Jamaica/ Jamaica flower
When I learnt Spanish I was wondering why Mexicans call it flor de Jamaica lol, coz we just call it sorrel here.

In Trinidad we don't use ginger...we boil in dry spices like cinnamon and cloves first...then we put in the sorrel to draw....but I'll try d ginger to see how it taste...and we sell dry Jamaican sorrel here..its very good...
My grandmother's from Trinidad and did it the same way! Still at 98 she can't stop talking about Carnival too!

You can
I made some sorrel at Christmas 1998, put in the fridge and forgot about it till last week. I forgot all about it. i opened it and it smelled like my grandmothers recipe. Now i know how she made it and i can't believe how well it kept. This year I'm making Sorrel wine. See you in 2021. If you attempt this don't forget to strain it off. What was in the bottom scared the life out of me.
That is Roselle, a species of the hibiscus. I love it.
Sorrel is my favourite! Greetings from Poland
Boil it with the ginger, turn the stove off after it has boil for awhile, cover the pot and have it sit till morning. In the morning or next day you strain it and sweeten it with sugar and wine(optional)
Or white rum.. My fav.... Happy holidays
Leelah Lilley rightttttt!!

This juice is a staple in Senegalese culture. We don't use ginger though and it's good for blood pressure.
Jean D.. I'm happy to know that WE Africans all over the WORLD still have similar habits. It is a reminder that we share ONE HERITAGE.. ( I Love Sorrel with ginger!)
I love Senegalese one too..Bisap it's called. Very good ...I can drink it by the dozens!
I grew up drinking this in Jamaica but it's interesting to hear the different names for it from other nationalities. Bless up!
I love me some sorrel but with rum though it doesn’t taste the same without rum
Bless up Matthew and Mokko,as well as the whole family. I hope to see you again next year.
I made this today! In England. Flipping lovely. I've over sweetened it though, added yeast and stuck a few gallons in a carboy. Making bubbles already. See what happens with it! Great video. Never would have tried the stuff otherwise thanks.
Mokko's spliff board used as a ginger masher , love it.

This might be my favorite so far, have a good holiday everyone!
I was in Jamaica for Christmas. My grandmother came with us and she had a blast driving me nuts and running me ragged. The helper made sorrel and they all drank it off and I didn't get any. My grandfather hide his wallet from my grandmother, my grandmother had wwf wrestling with a lizard and the lizard jumped towards her and she ran out the room with her cane in the air and screaming....she had already removed her dentures for the night. My grandfather said that he went to school and he was taught well by teacher Grant so there's no need for him to go to church Christmas morning. My grandmother wanted to go clubbing with my sons and his friends and she was not pleased because she didn't get to go with them. I had a great time, I love my grandparents. Never a dull moment. (This tid bit was brought to you by Ras Sorrel...no liquor, juss wata)
Ras lookin higher than Jehovah right now 😂 merry Christmas !!

In Trinidad and Tobago we boil the Sorrel with Bay Leaf, Cinnamon Sticks and Cloves. Sometimes we put Ginger too. It's tradituonal to make Sorrel Juice around Christmas time.
