    Before I installed the drain plug I put some silicone on my finger with a latex glove and coated the hole on the inside. Waited for it to dry. Then put caulk around the flange and put plug in and screwed down. Wiped any excess off with a damp pape towel, then tilted the cooler and put a bead of caulk around the inside. I used clear 100% waterproof caulk from home depot.

    So it’s not flush on the inside? Which means you will always have about an inch of water in there unless you completely dump it out.

    Great job. The only thing I would consider is using a marine product called 5200 by 3M corp. It's way better than silicone but, it's also very difficult to remove once in place. It can be cut away with a razor knife. Thanks for the video.

      I used clear cork, all the products like 5200 which I used on my Armstrong bracket and silicone will make a mess, its a cooler not a thru hull fitting the way I did it will last a lifetime

    What kind of screws do you use? It shows it takes 3 screws. How about using a speed bore?

    Have you had any problems with the drain forming condensation on the outside and dripping?

    Do you know where I can buy an extra drain plug for this cooler? I've been looking for a while and I can only seem to find new coolers.

    What’s the diameter on that plug? I’m trying to find one that’s threaded at lowes

    So how is the silicone holding up on the plug after 2 months? Anything you would have done differently now that you have used it?

    • @tintdr
      @tintdr  5 лет назад

      Holding up great no issues at all. It's a silicone cork antimicrobial 25 year I believe.

    Put silicone in hole and outside surface Before you screw down that way silicone can't fall off

    With this particular boat drain plug, if you unscrew it, turn the plug around that you just unscrewed and put it in the hole backwards and unscrew it takes out this screen with a ball that was designed for boat. I took it out and it drains much better.

    Thank you. Your vid showed me how to do what you demo'd; used all your methods. The silicone bead you put on inside, did you "finger smooth" it or leave it as a raised bead?

    • @tintdr
      @tintdr  2 года назад +1

      Used clear cork not silicone. And I used a wet paper towel to make a perfect bead

    Im considering doin this drain mod to my ozt 26 qt cooler. My only issue with this mod is the drain plug not bein a flush mount. I was wondering if u could cut the sleeve part to make it fit flush? Like to hear some input

    • @tintdr
      @tintdr  3 года назад

      It has rounded edges and is made for a boat, all others I found either stick out or are to narrow. Cutting it could work after doing it as shown. Marking it when installed , removing it and cutting it with a very good accurate machine I suppose

      Go to any west Marine it's the drain plug that has the ball in it so of you forget to put your plug in the boat wont sink. I removed the ball though

    what ever happened to just turn the cooler over? Americans keep making shit more and more complicating.

    • @freighter1097
      @freighter1097 3 года назад +1

      Well lets say the cooler is full of food/food in a basket. You don't want to turn it over at that point. Pull the drain while you go get more ice.
