By the way, heartfelt thanks to Concordia College and G-d bless these young men who shared their spirit with the rest of us 10 years ago. They are all still young men now in 2023 and i hope they know their voices are a continuous fount of blessings to anyone who is lucky enough to hear their effort. Thank you all.
This was glorifying to the LORD Jesus Christ, thank you! Refrain:There is a balm in Gileadto make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gileadto heal the sinsick soul.1. Sometimes I feel discouraged, and think my work's in vain, but then the Holy Spiritrevives my soul again.(Refrain)2. Don't ever feel discouraged, for Jesus is your friend, who, if you ask for knowledge, will never fail to lend.(Refrain)3. If you cannot preach like Peter,if you cannot pray like Paul, you can tell the love of Jesus, who died to save us all.(Refrain)
Never understood the words as a young man, but later learned a "balm" was a lotion from the Balsam evergreen tree, perhaps a sweet pungent pinelike fragrance, or salve, used in the mideast, and of course Gilead refers to the Holy Land, so the song is rooted in a common fact, but goes deeper to say that another source of relief is available, but i do not need to explain that.
