This video provides minimal valued content, it’s really just a commercial puff piece. If you’re going to “review” shafts, you need a reference, more like how you’ll review a driver head vs your gamer. You did a really informative shaft review awhile back when you tested the entire GD Tour AD lineup. For this shaft, at very least I would have tested these 2 against your game GD VR. Even better would’ve been the VR alongside Alex’s previous work like the Ventus & Ventus TR. Maybe throw in a Diamana GT and Speeder Platinum and/or NX since those are the industry standard for smooth/feel oriented premium shafts. I would consider myself the target audience for this given my disfavor for Ventus and Ventus TR due to a board like feel. I’ve always loved the Speeder and Diamana for their spectacular smooth feel and response. Without a reference for this new shaft, this vid doesn’t make me want to give it a try
I got fitted for the Aretera blue the other day. Ventus blue was also in the mix. The Aretera felt as smooth as the Ventus but my timing the Aretera was better. Great shaft, but it is a lot of money.
I was in a club champion fitting and it came down to ventus black and aretera grey. I loved the feel of the aretera and went with that! Another great video thanks guys!
After switching to the Hzrdus Hulk shaft in my Ping G430 10k, I cannot imagine a better driver shaft out there. I know its very stiff, so for guys that like to work the ball its not the best, but the combination of the Ping 10k head and the hulk shaft has been perfection for me. Loving the shaft reviews guys, keep up the great content!
Since Alex was always at Fujikura, it would therefore need to be a Fujikura shaft. The most famous and treasured Fujikura shafts , during Alex’s 30 years there, are the Speeder lineup. He was not really involved with most Speeder shafts, at least to my knowledge. The lone Speeder I’m aware he was directly involved with is the Speeder Pro and Speeder Pro TS, which were highly regarded in the mid-late 20-teens. The Speeder Pro in particular was a legend on long drive circuit, known for its prominent kick while TS version featured much less kick feel but excellent stability in a heavier ‘Tour weight’ driver shaft without the board feel of most heavy driver shafts. I’m betting it was one of these 2 shafts they are talking about, especially since they were not an oem supplied shaft thus pretty rare since being discontinued over 5 years ago.
I don't get all these "It's a commercial comments" it's a business isn't it not a public information service. The team behind this shaft have a very impressive CV, Vista Pro, Axiom, Pro, Speeder Pro, Motore, Blur, Ventus, and Ventus TR. Club Champion getting a month exclusive is a coo for them and if they want others to follow suite it's makes sense to be nice about the product, if it stunk they wouldn't even be showing it, clearly given the pedigree of the company founders it would be a good product, perfect fit for everyone..well no that why there's a wall of shafts. Down the line the comparisons to others will come.
They reviewed TPT several years ago. Unless there’s a brand new version of it, you’ll be able to go back and check out the old videos online. Probably circa 2017-18
I love the vids, but no 420.00 shaft is gonna magically fix my swing. My Graphalloy pro launch red gives me just as good numbers as the ventus shaft I hit at club champion. And cost 270.00 lesss
Is it recommended for folks to adhere to the same manufacturer for shafts, if possible? Say if UST works in the woods, maybe look at UST for irons as-well for the same feel/action, or is that not always the case?
Don't think it's always the case. If you look at tour bags, you'll see a variety of manufacturers. (Although most tour players seem to like the same shaft manufacturer in their woods, and then their irons + wedges). It's all personal preference and just because one manufacturer works well in the irons doesn't mean that their design will pair well with your swing in the longer clubs, or vice versa.
Not that amateurs should EVER follow the equipment choices of tour pros, but I would estimate more pros play different manufacturers shafts just in their woods alone. There are very few players paid to play a shaft, though many shaft oem’s offer contingency $$ for tournament results. The exceptions are DJ and Bryson who play exclusively LA Golf shafts, Bryson uses LA Golf shafts in all 14 clubs, though both are stakeholders in LA Golf.
@@MichaelM-to4sg Makes sense. I ended up going UST in everything except for the wedges/putter - off the shelf vokeys/tm putter. The recoil/proforce shafts help me load them easier. Will probably never do steel again.
On their website, they dont mention flex by description, but by numbers 3,4,5. So is 3 a regular, 4 -stiff and 5 - X-stiff? They also dont mention torque or section stiffness numbers, which people can use to try and relate to or get a general idea. Now of course, maybe that is intentional to force people to try it without any preconceived notions, but still would be nice to know for those that cant try it out.
I found them stumbling over what words to say about these shafts too much to warrant the price tag. Performance isn’t anything better than other options on the market. So why pay the extra coin?
Interesting. Im sure it’s a wonderful shaft. I like it when it was mentioned it has materials integrates that would cost a lot more than the current price. Ao how much is this shaft??
$420 for a brand new shaft 😂😂 not even ventus a proven tour shaft is that much. I’ll stay with my Hzrdus line. I went to club champion to test it and my Hzrdus black was beating the breaks of the grey one hahahah
I do a fair bit of this testing malarky. I know what works and what doesn’t, stiff doesn’t give me the dispersion I need when swinging at 116-118mph which is where I am when I’m going after a drive. These were just smoothies for the test.
If not able afford a Ferrari, you buy something less expensive you can afford. It does not mean you bash the expensive product just because it works and looks so well but you think it's expensive. Stop complaining and grow up. Fun fact: golf is hard, golf is expensive. I drive a nissan 😅
No in-house review/numbers of the ventus + compared to the og blue?

This was legitimately an infomercial. The whole thing just felt off to me.
@@teerex8488 Welcome to the age of Club Champion unfortunately.

Let me guess. Exclusive to Club Champion only. And available for the low low price of $500+ CDN
$420 USD.
@@whocares3986 I honestly can't believe people are getting suckered into buying shafts that expensive these days.
Wow. That’s $650 CDN with tax??

Since they didn't mention it, looks like U.S. pricing is $420
blaze it
Ventus same price?
@@MXJEFF94no. Ventus is $350 US. So definitely more expensive
@@ohwowthatsgoodthe best day of the year! Price is too low though.
I love this channels reviews, but when Club Champion is the exclusive dealer of this product for a month, your review seems a little pumped up.
agreed, not feeling this
What shaft were they alluding to @ 7:20? Matrix?
Alex was on the deign team for Vista Pro, Axiom, Pro, Speeder Pro, Motore, Blur, Ventus, and Ventus TR. Pretty golden CV.
Got to try and A1 Blue 55R during my fitting earlier in the month - decently long and felt really stable for an R flex for my SS (92-93 MPH).
If the whole difference between the 2 shafts is the tip, why would you then tip the blue shaft a half inch?
Would love a Titleist 2 wood video and a video where you build a driver to hit a specific shape
11:09 it's a red tee, then BOOM, it's a yellow tee at 11:10. Ian, are you going Criss Angel on us?
How does the blue profile compare to the Ventus Blue Velocore Plus?
Ian why did you not try a Taller tee on the Grey Shaft?
A brand new company and they are 70 bucks more than a GD shaft? Good luck
they’re not that new of a company. they’ve been around for 20 years. they’ve gained more popularity in the last few years though
Get a few pros playing them they’ll sell
The founder was the lead designer of the Ventus line and worked at Fujikura for 20+ years!

Blue def better dispersion and more consistent for Ian.
I like the part you explain what engineers do and do not know. Always interesting to hear a totally uninformed opinion.
