I’ve never used that kind of scale and now that I’m practicing medicine, I’m having to use it. I really, appreciate this video because it gave me a clear idea, on understanding HOW to READ and USE the SCALE.

Hi Ms. Julie thank so much for your videos it really helped me a lot this is one of my skills I passed my both skills and written on Sep 13, 2020 From California
I have my state CNA exam tomorrow and I am having a hard time removing my gown without contaminating my skin..ugh!!I been watching your vids so hopefully if I do get it I pass..I hope I have a evaluator that's not super strict...
Many thanks for your kindness. I have a medical question. Please: How many times do I measure my weight in a month, for example, or a week? If you would be so kind, I am 26 years old, my height is 160, and my weight has not been measured for a while, but I think it is 65 kilograms. Is this appropriate?
Question , Do we wear gloves in this procedure ? I took my skills a few days ago and they said I don’t use gloves but my teacher said we do ? 😫 I have to retake my skills again but not sure which one I failed .
Hi Angelica! No, gloves are not required for this skill. Your Score Report should list what skill or skills caused you to fail and which steps you performed incorrectly or omitted.
For the exam if we had to complete skill 3 (ambulate using transfer belt) and skill 14 (measure&record weight of ambulatory patient), do you recommend ambulating the patient to the scale and then after bring them back to the bed? If so, would the weight of the transfer belt affect the weight of the patient on the scale?
Hi, Clarissa! No, I would not recommend that. Each skill is a separate skill. You can not combine skills. You must perform each skill individually and in the exact order as listed on your skill set.
I look at this video but it not clear with the top measurement with that said a little more on adding the top and bottom and what the small lines counted as
Ha! Ruth, thank you for your comment. As long as the candidate's reading comes within +/- 2 lbs of the evaluator's reading, they will receive credit for this step. But, again, thank you for your response.
Am having my state exam in two days, is the resident supposed to remove their shoes before getting onto the scale? If so when they get off do I help them put their shoes back on
Hey Miss Julie. I’m kind of confused on this skill, but why did you move the larger scale to 150 instead of 200 because 200 is larger than 150 and why did you move the smaller scale on 4 instead of five or a larger number than that. Please help. Thank you 🙏 from Texas
Hi, Victoria! It's a floor scale. To zero out this type of scale before you have the person to stand on it, all you need to do is turn the dial to "0".
@@victoriapedraza6860 Hi! It really depends on the type of scale. The larger, more bolded tic Mark's are usually in increments of "1". I'll try to do a live stream tomorrow morning with an explanation on how to measure the person's weight.
Thanks for the message back. I’m in Georgia and I’m preparing for the Pearson Vue evaluation. My teacher insist that the feet cannot touch the floor. She states that when we put the patient in a sitting position, we must have them dangle there feet until we place their shoes on. She further stated that each state have different rules and regulations for the Pearson Vue evaluation. This is confusing because I have not seen nowhere that it states the feet must dangle but she insist that if we don’t make the resident feet dangle then we will fell the skill. Is this accurate?

Hi, Sian! Thank you! Glad to hear my explanations are helpful.
Ms Julie when we do this in class, our instructor told us to use gait belt for fall prevention
The use of gait belt for this skill is not a required step if your state testing falls under Pearson Vue.
It is Pearson vue
@@fallennelly1610 for testing, no gait belt is required.

Photographer was very weak, I couldn’t see the number of the person weight
Will the exam be with a “standard scale” like the one shown in the video or a digital scale bc in class she has a “digital scale”? SMH @nursejar
Hi Blake! Digital or electric scales are prohibited. The scale must be a calibrated bathroom scale or a standig scale, as shown in my video.

How to read the top scale?
Hello Ms. Julie,
Do you teach CNA 2 skills ?
Am having my state exam in two days, is the resident supposed to remove their shoes before getting onto the scale? If so when they get off do I help them put their shoes back on

Hi, Abigail. You have to adjust the scale according to the person's actual weight.
NURSE JAR okay thank you but how do you know that it the person weight ?
@@mommyandjustin8368 well, the person will be standing on the scale as you are measuring their weight.

What’s the number is the grove before 150 ?
Hi, if they were to have you weight a patient on a non-digital bathroom scale, would you twist the back of it to set it to zero?

Hi, Luna! Good luck on your exam! Let me know how you do. What state will you be testing in?
Hey Ms Julie , quick question my testing will be in CA do you have to write LBS next to the number? Or just 154 by itself?!
You need to put 154lbs
How do u know to do 150 or 200 I don’t want the person thinking I’m being rude if I use the wrong one 😬
Hi, Morgan!
You have to use your own judgment on which poundage to start out with with the larger weight.
Good morning Nurse Jar,
Basically if I put 150 as the weight. The evaluate will most likely have 148 or 152? If we both have the same number, I fail?
