Joanne Woodward, one of the finest actresses of any era. Her performance in The Three Faces Of Eve (1957) was a tour de force, an Oscar well deserved. And of course, her collaborations with her husband, Paul Newman(an all-time favorite actor of mine), were fantastic. The Long Hot Summer (1958) & Paris Blues (1961) might be my personal favorites, though they were all great. Ethan Hawke made a wonderful documentary about their life together in 2022 called The Last Movie Stars. I recommend it. While she is sick nowadays, I still feel very fortunate to say Joanne is still with us at 93 years of age. I haven't seen this particular performance with her and Dick Powell, no less, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. Thanks, PizzaFlix!
💖 azo ~ Thx for your input - i hadn't ever heard of "Interlude" B4 & honestly didn't think I'd like the storyline, mainly cuz I'd never had her problem & it _seemed weird_ to me. Plus, i read commz 1st a couple of days later, & some mentioned such a sad ending & crying over it ... & i really just wanted "Radar Men from the Moon" way more; but - wowww - was i ever surprised ... _luvvved_ it!!! Entralled! The execution of all of its components blew me away. Sooo glad I decided to take that huge leap & jump off of that fence. i think i saw "The Three Faces of Eve" on Satellite several years ago, but can't E-VON recall a single scene lol. Sooo ... . *However* - i remember LOTZA scenes from "The Long Hot Summer" cuz fell in _mesmerized_ _LUVVV_ with it & watched it _many_ times (ditto for the remake with Cybil Shepherd & Don Johnson - _many_ viewings). _Superb_ story & writing & acting & cinemagraphic ambience & directing by all in both films!!! Adored 'em both & comparing 'em ... kinda begged 🍕 for the newer version several months ago - my bad - forgot all about asking for the _original_ version. Thx for reminding me!!! I'd luv to be able to see 'em one after the other & to be able to flip back & forth between 'em at certain scenes to more carefully observe how the directors & actors treated said scenes. (🍕🍕 Double-Hint-Hint!! 🍕🍕) I never heard of "Paris Blues" B4, but will take _your_ word for it. Maybe 🍕 could score that one some day, too.🤞 ~ 💖 🎆 Happy 2024 New Year! Blessings! 🎆 *PS* ~~~ Never heard of that documentary you recommended, "The Last Movie Stars", either - I'll keep it in mind.
I've always LOVED Joanne Woodward... Yes... I loved her in the movies you mention but her role in "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" really really stole my heart! I saw it on the big screen when it first came out in 1972. She was so beautiful inside and out.
She's graduating from high school, which means she's 18, so she's an adult. If he was really in love with her and respected her, they could have been together and it wouldn't have been taking advantage. They could have spent the rest of their lives together. Of course for 1950s television that could have never been allowed. But I would have loved that!
I was 5 years old when this was aired... lol... Woodward, born 1930, was 24 when she acted in this episode (she's still alive at age 93!) Dick Powell, aged 50 here, would die only 8 years later at age 58 from lung cancer, after decades of chain smoking. He was married to June Allyson, who died in 2006 at age 88.
This is a good movie. I really like Joan Woodard's movies, especially the movie: "The Three Faces of Eve". She gave an outstanding performance in that movie. 😊
For my money, she's the actor and her husband, what's his name, is the movie star. Lol. But only measured next to his wife. Compared to his contemporaries, he was a talented actor. I was very impressive by Paul Newman until I saw Joann Woodward act. I seem to remember an interview in which she said they'd decided as a couple that he'd act and she'd raise their kids, because, wait for it, he would make twice the money she would have made acting and that was the right decision for the family. Imagine it! Deciding to do what's right for the whole family and then doing it! Won't wonders never cease!? Barbara Stanwyck made half the salary of Van Heflin (who?) for The Strange Love of Martha Ivers though she was a bigger box office draw by far. Considered normal then ... And now! We've come a long way... maybe...not.
💖 ~ 😎😎😎 🍕🍕🍕 Fell waaayyyyyy behind in EVERYthing, during the holidays, but it's FINALLY (ta-da!) PIZZA (for real!) time with this 🍕TV show & then FINALLY _starting_ the "Radar Men from the Moon" cliff-hanger marathon - YAY!!!!! ~ 💖
Why would anyone think a 50 year old man marrying an infatuated 18 year old girl is okay? If the characters were reversed in gender, people would be freaking out! I keep seeing these cringey comments, and thinking ewwww!!!
THAT"S entertainment...from a kinder, gentler time. Thank you.

Joanne Woodward? Yes please do. Really looking forward to seeing this later today. Many thanks

As good as 25 minutes can get. The pyrotechnics were delivered by the actors.
Happy New Year
A wonderful interlude .
Thank you PizzaFlixs television .
Hàppy New Year to you all 🎊🎉
Namaste 🙏👍🕉️💐
That was so sweet, I'm so sad it had to end.
Wow! Dick Powell aka Detective Rick Diamond. A wonderful actor as well as a radio actor. And Joanne ❤
Wow! An older man who doesn’t try to take advantage of a young girl. Very admirable, indeed. ❤️

He was the father she didn't have but yearned for. He humbly understood that.
Wow! That was beautiful, heartwarming and heartbreaking altogether.
Stupendous! Thank you PF for one of the finest! ❤❤
Wonderful movie. Thank you SO MUCH!
I would love to see “Rachel, Rachel” with Joanne Woodward.
It’s good
I’ll watch anything with Joanne Woodward and Dick Powell in it!
Woodward sure is young there.
Have you ever seen 'Susan Slept Here'? Great! Dick Powell and Debbie Reynolds
😮
A tender and yet heart aching movie I wept by the ending. A beautiful woman and genuinely talented.
Same here... 😢
Wonderful!! I Fell in love with Joanne Woodward when I saw her in Sybil. She has a wonderful voice. Thank you for showing this! MORE!!
What was Sybil about?
@@2_thumbs_up_baby She was the phycologist that helped Sybil (who had many many personalities) get thru terrible times. It's a. Great performance!

What am exceptionally meaningful piece! Had no idea TV was this great in the early years of it.
It was the Golden Age of Television
🍕🍕🍕Thank you , Pizza Flix🍕 Great story 🍕🍕🍕 👍👍
The headmistress played mother superior in the Private War of Major Benson.
This is a good movie. I really like Joan Woodard's movies, especially the movie: "The Three Faces of Eve". She gave an outstanding performance in that movie. 😊
Dick Powell was so good. This episode makes me think of "Try a Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding.
Excellent, as usual.
Fabulous, can’t wait.
Joanne Woodard ❤ phwoar!!
Thanks!

He was a fool not to take her with him and marry her! She's 18, she's an adult! They would have made such a sweet couple.
She was actually 24 playing the role of an 18 year old.... not to worry... Dick was married to the beautiful June Allyson in real life.
QUÉ TRISTE! AUNQUE NO FUERAN PAREJA...., ELLA VUELVE A QUEDARSE SOLA. VUELVE A SER RECHAZADA... 😪
ELLA TENÍA 24 AÑOS Y EL 50, EN EL MOMENTO DEL FILM. ¡ELLA VIVE HOY!! TIENE 93 AÑOS. ❤❤❤❤
She was actually a pretty girl. This is the first time I have seen her act. The only image I remember her by is being Newman's old and wrinkled wife.
Pretty lucky to be married to thee PAUL NEWMAN. SUCH a famous mega star & his own line of quality made foods and condiments.
Yep, he could have married any woman back then. I used to live in CT. and NH. and he lived and played in both states.@@markr.devereux3385
Dick POWELL is a helluva an actor , makes it look easy. One smooth talker and wellmannered around the opposite sex. Reminds me of a favorite uncle.
💖 ~ That was sooo beautiful 😍 ... but he should've married her - they were _made_ for each other. Thx!🍕 ~ 💖
