I’m honestly surprised that you haven’t had any “international” guests. Would love to hear more like this. Really glad you did this one! I’m learning a lot
My friend who is 77 had both parents survived Auschwitz, and he would put a flower at the gates so his love would see it when she passed the gates of horror. And he had an awesome bond with his mom and dad. So his story may be a story but it’s not everybody lies, I shared the Bema with Elie Wiesel when I had my Bar Mitzvah and he was an incredibly kind and warm man.
Andy such a good relatable dude. He keeps a fairly moderate take on politics instead of the fringe right or left bs…unlike a similar operator podcast that rhymes with gone flyin
I’ve had to go to lengths to keep that podcast from being suggested. It was good at first, but after his trip to Mexico it turned into a mix between unsolved mysteries and days of our lives. But, It led me to this one, so I’m glad I started watching it. Andy is deep. He really is. Sometimes it sounds like he’s already been on a few psychedelic trips. Not many guys from his community are as open minded and introspective. Some of the things he says sounds like me when I’m on acid. 😂 I’m really glad ole Andy is on my team, and I hope to keep myself on his team, or out of the way. 😂

Glad that they gave more background details. I support Israel, but have been learning as much as I can to see the history and dispel the rumors trying to cloud what happened.
israeli guy here. bernardo said he is from shabak and yamas and 730. i can tell you these are all top noch places to serve. yamas alone is easily one of the best SF forces in israel, next to its sister unit Yamam. really impressive service that he did in israel.
Good to see you having this conversation. Only about 15 minutes in and I will say that the reason the numbers are so low in regards to those Israelis wanting to join the IDF is because you don't get paid enough as a soldier to even survive. Its' much worse than the USA. Most Israeli soldiers get some sort of outside support and are living with family when not on a military base. So many Israelis will make up something to keep from having to join the IDF. I have several friends/family that have been in this situation.
Listening this two explaining Israel-Palestinian war is like listening two Nazis explaining to naive american how they strugle with jewish terrorists in Prag getto after they liberated anciet german territories in Poland,Chech,Slovakia.. Unbeliveble 🤮

At 44:00 I moved to Israel right aroudn the same time Benardo did around 2006. I remember when the Jews living in Gaza were ripped from their homes and land in Gaza for the sake of peace. And as he mentioned, Hamas took control, through a vote of the people mind you, and then began to shoot and terrorize the southern Jewish citeis and communities with thousands of rockets. Prior to the border fence, the reason it was put up and Jews ripped from their homes was mainly because it was too easy for terrorists to get into Israel and kill Jews. There were suicide bombings happening. The fence was a great idea, but it was badly implemented as it only acted as a temporary buffer and allowed tunnels and rockets to be shot into Israel.
Great podcast, if folks would read the information, when he referenced 2022 coupled with subterranean warfare, explains the military occupancy in the present.
1:28 Benardo brings up a great point. My wife side of family came to Israel in 1948 from the northern part of Iraq. The Jews were ran out of the area and many other places like this in the middle east when the mandate happened. It gave them an excuse to rid themselves of Jews in their Islamic countries.
Interesting episode, Thanks for having them on. Would it be possible to have the guest closest to the camera lower their boom so it isn't blocking the other guest, further from the camera?
At 33:00 If the US military was solely state controlled other than fed controlled then I could see co-involvement with army in police situations. But that would be a problem because then state/county/city rights would be superseded on the federal level. Which is not a good thing when it comes to the constitutional idea of freedom over safety.
that's the purpose of the national guard which can happen but most politian's care more about their public optic and political career than the people they're suppose to be protecting.
@@sirmonkey1985 Agreed. Good point. I'm more talking about the Fed part of gov and the intrusion of local jurisdiction. For example, feds showing up to someone's house without the permission of a local sheriff. The local powers are there for a reson. To protect individual rights.
So many of Bernardos quick witted remarks went over their heads. Dude is hilarious. On another note, judging by how they orientate themselves (2:03:36 onwards for eg and 2:18:05), I dont think your guests are too fond of the excessively bright monolith at the end of the table. They came for a podcast, not a tan.
Great episode. Thank you Andy for being on the side of good in this world. I think today there us a clear distinction between good and evil. This doesn't mean that we should use violence against evil, only to defend life. We need to educate the evil. Which brings me to what Bernardo said about "chosen nation". A lot of people call the Jewish people the "chosen nation". Why? What is does that mean? If one looks at the history of mankind, prior to Judaism, the world was mostly pagan and used to sacrifice people, even ones own children. Judaism through it's founding patriarch - Abraham introduced the idea of monotheism and a higher moral rule dictated by God. The word Jew comes from Judah, but the language we know as Ivrit which comes from Abraham being an Ivri or in hebrew עברי which means alone, on the other side. The Jews were "chosen" to expand this message throughout the world. But the Jewish people don't believe that only Jews go to heaven and only Jews are moral and righteous. Jewish people are not a religion, we are a nation, a family. And this family has a tough job. We need to uphold a certain moral standard and be an example of right vs wrong to the world while trying to fight for survival in every generation. It's a tough job that most Jews wish to walk away from.
1:42 Anti semitism exists within the borders of Israel. not the sense of a collage campus university, but there are Arabs/Palestinians that are Israeli citizens that are very anti-Jew. Many also are more neutral that are citizens, but it is a problem within towns/cities where Arabs and Jews coexist together.
1:46:54 it'd be great to treat the group most historically known (by ppl that know actual history) for AS the same way they treat Jwsh ppl after someone of their "faith" (not a race/ethnicity) does something in the world. I truly miss the morning coffee-team bullshit sessions in service and find this cast to be a good serogate; the homoerotic humor, unfiltered points of view etc.
At 1:12 I think that we need to realize that first and foremost Palestinians use thier Muslim religion to justify killing of Jews. Basically you can break down the people of Gaza into 3 levels of that Muslim extremism. 1. The terrorists that actually carry out the killing. 2. The people that don't kill directly but support through funding and logistics. 3. The people that don't support the killing directly at all, but celebrate when it happens. 4. Those left over after these 3 groups are identified is a small population of Gazans. So even if Hamas is eliminated, the only thing that changes the perspective of Muslims in Gaza is a reeducation of a more moderate form of Islam. Which can only be done though the help of a moderate Islamic gov.
Good discussion, hit most of the high points. So many people seem to think that the Palestinians can easily be separated from Hamas, that have no comprehension of Hamas real attutude. The anti-Israeli sentiment has been created in the media over a long period of time, it is pervasive, a lot of it is planned out propaganda by the players in the area and outside interests, doing a long, slow, influence program. In that arena, the Israelis cannot win against that, can't ignore it, or they'll make it worse, and can't give in to it.
