THIS is the episode in which I first encountered what I cameto know as "Otalia." Amazing to think that when this episode aired, the GL team had been working almost a YEAR to lay the foundation for this amazing couple. Some of my favorite early (Dec07/Jan08) Otalia clips are "Otalia: 12-07-07 Part 1" from OtaliaNut, "01.15.08 Otalia - Part 1" (start just before 5 minutes in) from OtaliaHD and "01.17.08 Otalia - Part 2" (start at 4 minutes in) also from OtaliaHD. The early animosity during the Gus love triangle stuff really makes the love story that much more compelling and so many people didn't start watching until after Gus died. These two REALLY hated each other. Great scenes from two phenomenal actors.
I dont think they really ever hated each other. Even at the worst of times. But you are right watching the beginning gives you a greater appreciation of what was to come.
Read your comments w/Shika-Did you have a chance to listen to the Mimi Torchen radioblog on Venice where she discussed w/CC & JL when they knew their storyline was heading for romance? They said it was when the actor who played Gus decided he wanted to leave the show. That's when they were both called in to discuss the change their relationship was going to take. Thank God he left, because we reaped the benefit of the best soap love story ever told. The early animosity made for great ground work

@ seneca.. dont worry, i remember the early & the first day natalia came on scene in 07. Natalia did hate Olivia's guts! Alan and Olivia were schemed up and Liv fell for gus! Not a love like Otalia but she was smitten! NAT even LOCKED liv up in the cabin! But, Nat had a good heart & let gus help liv. She gave her home up, gave her ring and gus' heart 2 liv. Nat lost $ & rafe 2 prison! Basically, these 2 over came ALOT of stuff 4 luv! Amaze me! Liz was a pampered diva
Looking back on these now knowing that the girls were acting while hiding what was going on this is all so loaded. Nat saying she looks in the mirror and know who she is and what she wants then Liv asking "dont you want more." everything is so layered I miss this GOOD writing. They've ruined our girls lets hope they turn it around in these last couple of weeks.
I have listened to it, twice in fact. Was so glad Mimi wasn't willing to just let some of the issues drop and really tried to pull some info out of CC and JL about why no intimacy. In an interview with the Advocate, CC mentioned Jan 2008 as when the actors were told they would embark upon this storyline. So I assume that the episodes that aired in Dec07 and Jan 08 had been recorded in Nov and Dec of 07 before either actress knew what was coming. Makes the clips I mentioned extra juicy.
I think this is the point where Nat cracks Liv yeaahhhh :) Right here the hard nutshell perishes and tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *fiddles* ..... Nat paves the way for OTALIA XDDD

I agree with you 50%. I don't think Liv ever hated Natalia. I do think Natalia hated Olivia (even if it was a mixed up kind of hate). I think she says it because Olivia plays the religion card on her right before but I still think at this moment, Nat hates Liv. Anyway, thanks for not biting my head off. I get lots of thumbs down just for reminding people that the love/hate relationship started with the hate.
