    Hello,
    Again, thank you for another review! I hope you will make more review in the format of what you did on the Salmon mtn lab and Atomic Hawx.
    I'm in between boots here. On the countryside its hard to go and try boots on, thin selection in the stores, so I hope you can guide me. The boots I'm thinking about are Tecnica zero g tour pro (would be great with a review on that one), K2 Mindbender 130 and Dynafit Hoji Free. They all seem like great options.
    I have skid the Scarpa Maestrale Rs2, Salomon mtn lab and the ol' faithfull Black Diamon Method 110. The last mentioned is the one that fit my feet the best. Scarpa is to big in the toebox just behind the toes, and my legs feels loose. On the Salomon I had never ending blister issue on the heel, I suspect they where one size to big. I think my legs and feet are thin -> medium. Usually have to move the buckles to "tightest screw hole" (in lack of better english skills).
    If you were to take an educated guess from what little I have mentioned, which one do you think would suit my feet the best?
    Cheers,
    Paul

      Think this is 20-21. The walk lever is different than this year's model. Last year hung a little bit out which interfered with some of the look bindings. It looks like they changed it to a pull string. Fan of the new colorway.

    How would you compare this boot to the Tecnica Cochise 130? I'm starting to look at new boots and the Mindbender 130 has definitely caught my eye as well as being the best-fitting straight-out-of-the-box-fit boot that I've tried on in recent years. I like the idea of how light (in comparison) they are and the fit was absolutely superb (for me), but I really love how hard I can rip on the Cochise and don't wan't to sacrifice performance too much.

      I like this boot a bit better than the Cochise! :) I felt nothing is held back when skiing in this boot, so for performance, you should be more than happy!

    Great review! For 23/23 they also have a 140 flex (the Team). I am torn between the two. What's is the flex of the 130 compared to something like a Technica Mach1 130 (my goto boot if I don't need the tech inserts), is it rather a soft 130 or true?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  2 года назад

      Yeah a bit ofter than the Mach 1 flex wise on the 130. Simply due to shell wall thickness and weight. Yeah the 140's look sick! Prob won't go wrong with either, but a beefed up version would be exceptional!

    Awesome video! You have a new subscriber now! I read through your comments about the Tecnica cochise from 6 days ago, where you mentioned that you prefer the k2 mindbender. I am however completely unsure of which one to buy - either the Cochise 130 or the white mindbender 130 (guessing it’s last year so not the one in the video?). I love a stiff boot for downhill (performance is very important for me), a lot of ROM on the uphill, touring is important and I have narrow feet. Booth fit me perfectly. Which ones would you recommend? Or do you recommend a different boot? I’m also interested in having a liner that I could walk around with in the snow - nothing excessive but just have the possibility. All help is appreciated!

      My preference is the MIndbender. Simply for the reason it felt better to ski in.

      Patriot Footbeds Hello agan. I’m really having a hard time deciding what boot to buy. I just looked at your review of the head kore 1. Is it worth taking it into consideration? Either head kore 1, mimdbender 130 or cochise 130. I can’t get my hands on the 20/21 mimdbender, is the 19/20 still beating the cohise 130? Sorry ablut all the question, but you have been great help!

    Hey Craig, how’s the heel hold & warmth factor with the liners in these?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  4 года назад +1

      Hey mate, Yeah i rate both factors pretty good on these. Ultralon liner is pretty toast and heel hold felt very good skiing in them!

      Appreciate the insight!
      Out of all the walk mode ski boots on the market w/ a 98mm Last, what would you say is the best bang for buck?

  • @BKInbound

    ive skied on the 120 almost 30 days now. As much as I love them some problems, ive had to note;
    Liners seem to pack out A LOT. I measure at a 25 and got the 25.5 size but I think now after I would have been better in the 24.5.
    Even after moving the buckles to the lower volume setting I havent always been able to get a really lock and twice now Ive bent the buckles and had to get a new one sent.
    this seems to fall slightly more on the touring end of the spectrum in some ways, and I think because of this there is no cuff alignment adjustment. If I had the option I would angle them out more as Im now getting a lot of pain on the outside of my lower leg after a couple days.
    I think a new thicker liner and a few modification will resolve my issues. Definitely a great boot for the right person, which I may not be

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the insights! That is good to hear how they go after some use. I think a lot of that pain on the outer leg you are feeling is from how much tension you are cranking with the buckles!
      A pretty common strain from overtightening the cuff. Yeah maybe even the smaller size would have provided a better lock.
      If you want to try something, I would recommend looking at the "liner sleeve' and a 'tongue shim' They work wonders for locking in your heel and also not requiring so much tension through the cuff. :)

    • @BKInbound
      @BKInbound 4 года назад

      @@PatriotFootbeds I have your liner sleeve actually, these boots would be a lot worse without it. Ill try a tongue shim too maybe thats all i need. A shell fit does show some alignment issues with the outside of my shin/calf so maybe if im still having issues after i could try some canting pads for the cuff next

      Where were your toes when you tried them on originally? For a more aggressive skier they should just be touching the front for two reasons. One is like you mentioned the soles and liner will set a little as you ride in them. Two, when you lean forward going down hill your heels move back a little more.
      I tried these on at the store and ordered them online. Haven’t ridden in them yet so I cannot comment on them. I did notice as a 98 last they felt wider than other models. Might be a function of pure alpine boots vs these hybrids.

      Hey, I also have a pair of Mindbenders, have only used them a couple of months and bent the ankle buckles on both pair to the point that I need to get new ones shipped to me in order to replace them. I can't figure out how I ended up bending the buckles, do you have any idea how the buckles get bent? My assumption would be touring with them not being fully locked in. How did your buckles bend?

    • @BKInbound
      @BKInbound Год назад

      @@ericscott8592 I know this is late but I bent mine from overtightening them. if I came around from behind the cuff and pull them down the angle doesnt torque downwards quite as much but the fact its happened twice is concerning

    Has the boot changed since last years model? How stiff would you rate it? I have a Fischer ranger free 130 and despite the ‘130 rating’ they feel way softer especially flexing forwards, was wondering if this is the same kind do deal? Love your videos, great content as always. Cheers

    • @PatriotFootbeds

      Thanks Andreas, Yeah this is mostly the same as last years version.
      On the other hand, Fischer have significantly stiffened up their boots :)

    how much of the walk mode flex relies on the buckles being undone? Does the cuff truly rotate forward?

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  4 года назад

      Yeah there is hooks on the end of the ladders, but you would likely lock them out or completely undo for walk mode. I would say a good 20-30 percent would rely on the buckle release. I don't think this one gets extra forward movement, but the new Scott and Lange boots do.
