The game is a HUUUUUGE reference fest to gaming in the 5th and 6th gen (there are some older references too) and the references are so ingeniously done. It's not the simple matter of putting Lara Croft in the game somewhere, it's the matter of making her an overweight man who'd the only Roman to actually wear pants, they don't just put the mortal combat logo in the game they redesign it to look like a sea horse instead of a dragon, there is a Ratchet clock with Clank as a pendulum, you see romans cosplaying as many different videogame mascots, THERE IS BLINX THE CAT HERE TOO. What I'm getting at is how the hell they didnt get sued is beyond me, but the references may have been the reason why this game initially never came out outside of Europe. Thankfully nowadays you can play a better version of it on literally everything. The only thing I noticed that got lost in the transition to the remaster is the high framerate FMV's. The game is an oddity in that it features FMV's shot in 60 frames(50 on the PS2 cause PAL refresh rate), something I've only ever seen done in Silent Hill 2 and Kya the dark Lineage.
Ahh! The memories. One of the first PS2 games I ever had as a kid, not to mention enjoying it to the fullest. The action, the exploration to a new world (as well as the new stages), the joy of partaking in the games of the amusement park of Las Vegum, and the fight against the Romans (from small fry to powerful threats). Asterix and Obelix XXL, XXL 2, and The Olympic Games hold a special place for my nostalgic experience. Too bad that I cannot relieve the same excitement and joy now, as I had felt in the past, probably because of maturity.

Yes DVDO VP30 but GSM is what made the most difference.
