I've probably mentioned it before, but I really appreciate your reviews of whiskies I imagine are considered a bit off the beaten path. Sounds like what M&M are doing is very cool, offering interesting releases at affordable prices and I expect there will be some hidden gems in that line up. Cheers!
I’m looking forward to this maybe opening up a little more. But I’m really happy with the price point and I’m sure after pay day another in the cask craft collection may be added to the whisky shelf here. Slainte buddy and see you in a couple of weeks
In a few days I'm going to the presentation of this bottler. I will try a few bottles. Thanks for this movie. I have a question about the microphone you use - it's very good. What model is it?
I’ve had a couple independently bottled Croftengeas and there’s a vegetal peat quality to the spirit that’s identifiable but I haven’t quite learned to love yet. I like seeing your reviews of Murray McDavid releases though. They’re hard to find where I am but they really do unique and quality stuff with the cask maturation. Have you tried their vatted Peatside?
I can vouch for you being on top form at the golf. Really enjoyable day over in East Lothian, thanks for the lift m8 and the company! Interesting bottle, Murray McDavid now owned by the Aceo Group, who have various blending and bottling interests, but no distillery yet. They were linked with Dallas Dhu a while back, but that has gone quiet. Coleburn Distillery owned by D&M Winchester, but Aceo lease the warehouses on the site. Aceo do own the old managers house at Parkmore Distillery in Dufftown, where I’ve been for a tasting.
Yeah it’s really bizarre for how big they are and don’t have there own distillery but yet are in a cracking location of Coleburn disitllery and have a footprint to work with. Be good to maybe speak with the guys at GWF and find out if that’s in the pipeline at any point. Thanks for the invite to the golf and no issues on the lift, even better grabbing the team win. Slainte buddy
Sounds like an interesting dram from the point of view of Bang for Your Buck. Being a NAS bottling, it might be expected that the young spirit is overly peated and the result could be dominated by one-dimensional smoky notes. Yet, from the way you describe it, it sounds like there's plenty of marmalade influence coming through from the Marsala cask to provide an alternative tasting note. Like you, I'm left wondering though about that strange 44.5% abv level, which to me is neither chalk nor cheese. Yeah, with 1.5% more they'd have spared themselves the necessity of chill-filtration, but they seem to have wanted to avoid a mouthfeel with a tad more grip. Still, at that price it's worth a try. If it turns out to be a duffer, then it's no great financial catastrophe. Many thanks for your first impressions. Cheers.
I reached out to Murray McDavid to get some information on the releases but still waiting to hear back. Wonder if they will be transparent with everything. It’s a great bang for buck dram and I’m interested in the others too. Just a little more abv and NCF and when if it was £40 it would be worth it that price. Thanks for the comments and the follows it’s really appreciated and Slainte to the weekend. I’m unfortunately working so no drams for me.

Well spoken, Drew. Totally agree.

Gamey sounds interesting in a whisky tasting note.
No a note that I’ve encountered yet.
