    I'm so glad Huion is finally getting into this space. They really interrupt the market, and they do an excellent job. I wish this was out when I was buying a laptop/windows tablet.

    A teardown would have been nice. A lot of manufactures claim their devices are non upgradable but sometimes it's just they don't want you opening the thing up. I know my laptop(now 5 years old) claims to have just one ram upgrade slot, but it actually has a second under the keyboard that takes some work to get to. To see the mainboard and the cooling setup would have been nice. But I'm a tech nerd.

    I agree that Huion did well with this, but PERSONALLY, I don't want/need a camera or fancy speakers. Just speakers to hear BT connection queues really. I love the idea of portable drawing tablets specifically for drawing/design/rendering. Because like you said Brad, the surface is a catch all product. This is a good step in the right direction, just for me, save a bit of money (if it even does) by leaving out a camera and keeping basic speakers.

      Mostly the reason to go Windows is to get access to Windows software. I have a Surface Pro 8, the first surface and pen combo I can actually draw on nicely and I have this so I can use it with Blender and 3D Coat for low poly texturing. This product would be better drawing surface and it’s so tempting but…. Keyboard options
      If you don’t need Windows software, then iPad Pro and even lesser models, is way cheaper and is incredible for drawing on, especially with a matte screen protector.
      I have to say ~3hrs drawing on battery for a Windows PC isn’t too bad

    It's nice to see the resolution and color space improve in their devices. The main reason I decided not to keep a 24" model a while back was because of how dim the display was. I don't feel they were truthful in the specs they provided.

    Some of these shortcomings could have been avoided if they had gone with the newer cpu's. That would have brought the heat down a lot, have the fan kick in less and improve battery life tons. The new Ryzen 7-7730u, Ryzen 5-7530u or i7-1260p/1270p or i7-1255u would have solved some of these issues. Choosing the Ryzen 7 or 5 would have also kept the price way more competitive. While the review is great, I don't I agree with you on the price, it's not right there. It's too expensive, for that price I expect more recent hardware. While in the US it's arguably reasonably priced, though still on the too high end, in Europe it's absurd. This cost more then the new Samsung Book3 Pro 360 in Europe. And no that's not due to taxes, even with taxes added this should not be $600 more in Europe (yes, that's the price difference). I'm sure it's a great device, but highly overpriced for outdated hardware and that reminds me way too much of what Wacom is doing.
    When they announced this device initialy, I was excited. When they released the specs, I got less excited already, but figured they would do it to keep the price down and thought this would be at the most €1400. I would have paid that and even set some money aside to get this. Until they anounced the price.
    I'm not paying €2299 for this, which is absurd. Looked around a little and decided to go with the new Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 Gen 8 instead. Perhaps unfortunatelly it has the keyboard attached, but as a 2-in-1 it works fine. Cost me €1200, upgraded model, standard it's less than €1000. That upgrade has the Ryzen 7-7730u (8 cores instead of 4), 16Gb of RAM and 1Tb of storage (instead of 512Gb). It has a lot more ports and a SD-Card slot, which for me is a must. Best of all, it has a 16" screen, that is so much better than the old 15.6". It's quiet and has great battery life, I can easily draw 6 hours on it. The Lenovo pen is different, but having Wacom technology, it does the job well. It's definitely more accurate then the 3.0 pen that came with my Huion Kamvas 16 2021. Not saying that the Huion pen is bad, not at all, but the Lenovo Digital Pen is more accurate.
    Huion got me interested in a device like this, I give them that credit. I would have loved the Kamvas Studio 16 if it was priced more reasonable. But I don't regret not buying the IdeadPad Flex 5, since the Ryzen 7 7730u is a powerhouse while being energy efficient.

      @artbybenjamin Год назад +3

      @@Wainey Brad is a nice guy and if he thinks it's reasonably priced than that's his good right. I'm sure there are more people that think that way. As soon as you start to compare and see how others price their hardware then right price suddenly is very relative.

    • @artbybenjamin
      @artbybenjamin Год назад +1

      @@perlance1337 I'm wondering if they outsource the creating of this device which raises the price. I read in some tech news that Lenovo and Huion have entered a partnership and wonder if these units are actually manufactured at the Lenovo facitilities. That would cause a bit higher price, though Lenovo themselves are known for very competitive pricing, same as Huion used to stand for.

      Yep! The only other one I can think of that's like that is the Wacom MobileStudio series (and the older but confusingly named Cintiq Companion series that came before that).
      For me, however, I do plan to get a Lenovo Yoga with pen input support (ThinkPad X13 Yoga, to be more specific) when I'm able to upgrade my secondary PC, though that isn't optimised for digital art, but would be better suited to my overall use considering that most of my time on time on my current secondary PC (a ThinkPad X250) is spent in productivity apps and Web browsers as it doesn't have pen input.

      It really depends on the person, really. But in most cases, I've seen it's because people really want to use PC-only software like Blender or Adobe etc without the hassle of carrying a whole laptop or the limitations/going for "alternative apps" route of an iPad or Android tablet but still have the convenience of a portable tablet, and this type of product is def not meant for the same audience as pen display users, which you do need to connect to a computer to use.
      I know my sis specifically wanted a Surface Pro or Mobile Studio over an ipad/Android tablet because she still prefers drawing with Paint Tool SAI over any other drawing apps. She's been carrying her laptop *and* Intuos tablet to work but it's often a hassle to set up to make it a portable drawing/workstation haha.

It makes it extremely difficult and unintuitive to use on a touch screen. And that's Sai Version 2, Version 1 interface won't even open at the correct size due to an issue with the screen resolution. If she does get something like a Surface Pro, she'll most likely have to use a different program or hook up a seperate tablet to it anyways to use Sai.

So when you draw with the right hand for example, the 4 fingers of the left resting at the back would intuitively find l 4 programmable buttons for the most frequently used functions. That IMHO is the perfect layout for a dedicated drawing/sculpting tablet pc. And you should also be able to be able to plug it into a powerful desktop and use purely as a connected tablet like (I believe) the Wacom Mobile Studio.

    The number one issue I've encountered on other tablets is touch sensitivity, AKA... PALM REJECTION. It so doesn't work, at least for me, so I usually have to disable touch altogether. It constantly jumps the cursor somewhere else, defeating the whole notion of "fast sketching". I'm surprised you didn't say anything about it. Can touch sensitivity be turned off, or moderated? How well did that work, resting your palm on the tablet?

    I have a surface pro that i bought back in 2017 and its not anywhere close to a cintiq naturally. Last year i bought a ryzen 5 laptop with humble specs for about 1200USD+- intending to use with my intuos because ive already gave up on having a cintiq like drawing experience on the go. This year ive tried a friend's kamvas 16 and i was immediately sold. Ive been using a cintiq pro as my main tablet for the past 6 years since the start of my art journey and honestly the kamvas was basically the same as my cintiq. The wacom pen even works on the kamvas and viceversa too.. stolen tech? Idk but its so much cheaper so im all for it! Now this launches.. im a little salty cos this is basically even cheaper than the price of my laptop + intuos if it had similar specs. Ill say if youre looking for a windows drawing experience on the go, i dont think there's literally a better device than this. Price for performance wise. Btw, wacom studio pros also overheat so much their rubber feet can melt if you leave them on the bed or some suffocating surface. Its just a thing youll have to deal with for these powerful tablets.

    • @isimplymake
      @isimplymake Месяц назад

      @@inesgarcia5523I'm honestly not a big fan. I use it with illustrator and find it a bit tedious. But I do a lot of 2d technical sketches that require millimeter precision.
      For just drawing/painting it's not bad and capable. It runs illustrator decently well, but that's really the only bit of software I've run on it.
      My biggest complaint is that it has extremely lack luster touch/shortcut control via huions own software. So you might want too look at 3rd party software for digital shortcut buttons. Otherwise you'll need a keyboard/side pad thing.
      Overall I'd give it a 6/10. It does quite a few things, but it doesn't do them exceptionally well.

    Genjutsu wont work on boruto because he is otsutsuki and they are ressistant against genjutsu.
    Bu even if it did, if there is someone who has enough willpower to brake out of it, it is Boruto. I mean he is constantly fightning with momoshiki about his body.
    Plus he several times awaken back after momoshiki took over.
    That just speaks that even if he falls in genjutsu (somehow) he can brake out.

    Quick question. I have a new relatively powerful laptop I just got for drawing and 3d work but I'm looking for a drawing display. I looked into huion and xpen products also wacom BUT with the Galaxy S8+ is a fully functional table (which I could use) do you think I would lose out on drawing functionality if I choose that over an actual drawing display? My question is are drawing displays that much better when it comes to drawing precision then a tab s8+ that it worths sacrificing tablet functionslity?

      I had the Cintiq Companion 1. It's still technically working, but I had to replace it twice within 6 months of buying it due to hardware problems and I've burned my hand a few times resting it on the screen when making comics.
      I've learned nowadays not to trust any new artist device whose internals are two generations outdated anyway, but Brad saying this device got warm and other commenters bringing up Intel 11's bad cooling makes me assume this is going to be the Cintiq Companion all over again.

    I'm surprised there's heat, this is something the Surface line addressed with the Pro 4 vs the 3. 3 was hot if you had it on and the fan was always on, Pro 4 was cool all the time and the fan was only on during a windows update or something intensive like a game.
    My 2-in-1 laptop that I draw directly on doesn't get hot even with CSP and a twitch stream open- the fan doesn't even kick on.
    I've been hoping huion would get into a portable computer space but this thing is just way, way too expensive.
    Lenovo sells a 2-in-1 laptop with pen support that's 16in that is $1,100 normally and I've seen it hit $900. With the Kamvas Studio 16 here, I just don't see the $600+ difference in performance.

    "Out of the realm of affordable" Boy did you say it. On their store it says that in US dollars it's $1700 but when you switch it to Canadian it says it's $2900, which is almost $600 more than if you convert American to Canadian dollars, so there must be a lot of tariffs on it or something as well.
