Izzy Stradlin is a genius. His solos and rhythms underneath everything paired with Adlers drumming is the reason this is up there with the best. Axls attitude when singing is phenomenal too, you can almost see him dancing and doing that snake thing in the studio if you close your eyes. Then obviously Duff and Slash. Really rare and special you find an album or band when you can genuinely argue each member is the one who makes the band. This couldn't have happened without these 5 together
In Slashs book he says this album was definitely driven by Steven's drums, Steve's story is heartbreaking, HUGE 1st album and just let addiction take him...at least we didn't lose him, but damn he's gotta be kicking his own ass, ya know??!!!

July 1987. Walked to the local department store. Found this album on vinyl. Paid $7.99 for it. When I got home I had a feeling it was going to be something important. Special. Timeless. Unique. I saved the packaging stickers, the skullcross window decal, I remember just staring at the artwork for a while wondering where the fuck these dudes came from. I had only heard welcome to the jungle once. And that was a rock / metal cover band called FreeFare that played our middle school. I can still smell the album cover, I remember the static cling on the record, the sound of the needle hitting side A......and then....you know the rest. Special timeless. Unique. Was I right. Fuck yeah we were all right.

When I first heard it at 10 yrs old in 87 , just thought it was same old radio stuff. Keep in mind that we had been surrounded by great music since the 60s . Now in 2023 I have come to think of this album as one of the greatest for sure and we didn't know it would be one of the last truly classic albums where every damn song has something no one can offer ever.
40 years later and this album..well, it just doesn't get old....I mean....god damn!!! It's like Led Zeppelin 2, or Blizzard of Ozz..it's just relentless!!!! Certainly changed my life!!!

Of course the lyrics of One in a Million of the rushed released Lies project is ultimately what started the break up of GNR. Slash was stunned at the lyrics but went along because they were at the top of their game
Depends on the producer. I remember hearing Al Kooper tried to convince lynard skynard to drop Simple Man from their album which he was producing. Luckily Ronnie Van Zant walked Mr. Koopers deaf, dumb ass out to his car and closed the door as Al got in and told him they'd call him after they finished recording the album.
The intro wasn't supposed to have the "chiggita chiggita" part. That was Slash hitting the note so he could hear how fast the delay was and start in the correct spot at the correct tempo.
Imagine a brand new band. Nobody has ever heard of them, and the first thing you hear is the Welcome to the jungle intro. Sadly i was born in 2008 and i didn't get to experience all the great bands of the late 60's-00's

1100 💯 hours Steve Adler didn't have the technical skills as some drummers may have, but Adler had Head groove it came out of his heart and his spirit and he could flat beat the hell out of the drums mad. I mean, Matt Was a d*** good drummer? But I like Adler better. Adler just had that GNR grove, And I think he was. Done, pretty s*****All those dudes got on. Including Axle And they singled him out. Oh, well, water under the bridge.

I remember walking into Tower Records in Campbell, Ca and buying "Live Like A #$&@ Suicide" because my buddy Fernie was always talking about this band GnR that he got to know in L.A. I thought cool, they rock! Then I bought this when it came out a year later. Wow. I was blown away. It was raw, mean and so in your face. Loved it. Still all these years later, when "It's So Easy" comes on, I freaking rock it and sing each lyric along with it. Such a fantastic album.

I'm 40 in July this year. My 2 brothers were into these and I was about 5 maybe 6. I used to run around the house singing to it and dressing up like Axl with my blonde long hair down my back and my brothers brown leather jacket on with a red bandana on pretending to be Axl!! I eventually learned every word to all the songs on this album. I was VERY proud of myself 😊 They were and still are my fave rock band Ever and ALWAYS will be... Some VERY good memories of my childhood. Thank you GnR... You made my childhood a VERY happy place. I'm sooooooo gutted they're not going anymore 😭😭

Used to love this. You can‘t kill it. I had to put it. Back onto my ears. Amazing stuff. Watched the documentary yesterday. So funny to see these people were kids when they created one of the all time albums of rnr. When I discovered this as a teenager they looked like old men in funny costumes. So great.
Out ta get me.....Man this album was the shiznit....I was 14.5...Ridin my Dyno....Bike...that bike was my everything....custom green...that year was G.T....Dyno's Mongooses...P.K.Rippers anyway half pipes ...I was more of the freestyle rider ....walkman on my ears jammin this Album....me and my buddy started a band as well I got my first guitar les Paul copy....it was a Cortez black beauty...thru neck and all....Aaron played the drums he was the kinda Kidd he could pick up any instrument and within and hour or two could play it as though he was a pro....He Definitely was a prodigy....I had pegs on the front forks and the back rim as well...also got a rotor for the gooseneck....spin the bars without getting the break wires tangled....I know I am babbling...but literally....have not fully listened to this master piece thirty five years....I am gonna be 51 at the end of December....just this brought back so many KILLER MEMORIES.....Who ever reads this sorry for the babbling.....Y'all stay safe out there in this KRAZY WORLD...PEACE AND GOD BLESS....ROCK AND METAL TILL MY LAST BREATH....Oh yea my Michelle...when I was 15 had a girlfriend named Michelle....again ☮️......
I love 💕 the Contraversy this nice 👍 and vulgar Rock n Roll album stirred up back in 87. Oh yes, I really, really love 💕 this one. Axl is a mean one, but I love his tough guy attitude. #16 on The Silver Star Winners List. I love 💕 the Hits " Welcome to the Jungle" ,"Sweet Child of Mine", and "You're Crazy" This album has real balls!
I almost forgot to mention. Not everyone knows about Hollywood Rose or The Farts being GNR's true origin. I love 💕 those bands,too. I almost forgot, I have a copy of Hollywood Rose on CD, but nothing from The Farts.

Amazing stuff. Watched the documentary yesterday. So funny to see these people were kids when they created one of the all time albums of rnr. When I discovered this as a teenager they looked like old men in funny costumes.

Out ta get me.....Man this album was the shiznit....I was 14.5...Ridin my Dyno....Bike...that bike was my everything....custom green...that year was G.T....Dyno's Mongooses...P.K.Rippers anyway half pipes ...I was more of the freestyle rider ....walkman on my ears jammin this Album....me and my buddy started a band as well I got my first guitar les Paul copy....it was a Cortez black beauty...thru neck and all....Aaron played the drums he was the kinda Kidd he could pick up any instrument and within and hour or two could play it as though he was a pro....He Definitely was a prodigy....I had pegs on the front forks and the back rim as well...also got a rotor for the gooseneck....spin the bars without getting the break wires tangled....I know I am babbling...but literally....have not fully listened to this master piece thirty five years....I am gonna be 51 at the end of December....just this brought back so many KILLER MEMORIES.....Who ever reads this sorry for the babbling.....Y'all stay safe out there in this KRAZY WORLD...PEACE AND GOD BLESS....ROCK AND METAL TILL MY LAST BREATH....Oh yea my Michelle...when I was 15 had a girlfriend named Michelle....again ☮️......

I love 💕 the Contraversy this nice 👍 and vulgar Rock n Roll album stirred up back in 87. Oh yes, I really, really love 💕 this one. Axl is a mean one, but I love his tough guy attitude. #16 on The Silver Star Winners List. I love 💕 the Hits " Welcome to the Jungle" ,"Sweet Child of Mine", and "You're Crazy" This album has real balls!

I almost forgot to mention. Not everyone knows about Hollywood Rose or The Farts being GNR's true origin. I love 💕 those bands,too. I almost forgot, I have a copy of Hollywood Rose on CD, but nothing from The Farts.
