I love this bit by Bill Burr. It is a fact that all religions have been created by man. That is not to say there is no higher power... I have no idea whether or not there is a higher power, and frankly no one else does either, no matter what they think. But I can guarantee every single religion has been handled, abused, misrepresented, reinterpreted and rewritten by man, not some god. If it's something that gives you comfort, that's great... but people need to be honest with themselves about this stuff and realize that just because they've picked one of the 3000 or so gods in recorded human history, it doesn't mean they're right.
And to treat existence, which is truly such an immensely rare gift, like some test for something better is wasteful and tragic.

    • @rickyderby
      @rickyderby Год назад +7

@@KonstantinosII that’s not what I’m saying at all. What I’m saying is that whether God is real or not, the concept of good and evil is divided by being either subjective or objective.
If God didn’t exist, moral truths wouldn’t exist. “Oughts” and “ought nots” wouldn’t exist. Because everything would be anybodies subjective opinion on any matter in a moral standpoint.
Yes, society and culture would have certain morals placed upon them based on their opinions of how they feel it’s best to run the world, but in the grand scheme of things, its all ultimately meaningless in the end (if there is no god). True integral atheism is nihilistic.

What's funny is if you watch any of the film work he's done, he's a PHENOMENAL actor. And you can see it, in every stand up show he does. Part of what makes him so engaging is he'll "perform" a lot of what he's saying, and he really sells it. He's very good at committing to a bit, and you eat it up, because he plays it all very authentically. It actually makes him a great actor, I wish he was offered more roles. They're hard to come by when you're an active, traveling comedian. But when he gets them...
Watch King of Staten Island, you'll see what I mean.

I really like your reactions to comedians but on the technical side you sound much more muted vs them when you are talking. Maybe it's just my PC's audio but if others are experiencing the same issue you probably can make some adjustments to the audio mix of your current setup so you sound a little less muted to match the videos you are reacting to a little more. Your laughs sound clear enough though so it's probably the EQ levels. Wish you luck and success with your channel.

No, rabbits dont lay eggs. However, the reference has been distorted through time. The actual reference is to the goddess Ishtar (pronounced easter). She is a goddess of ferility, which eggs are a symbol of. The animal that represents her is a rabbit. The Easter egg hunt has also been corrupted.
In prep for the hunt, naked women would strip and paint themselves. They then would go intto a nearby forest to hide. Men from the village would go into the foreat to find them. When a man would find a woman, he would have sex with her where he found her. Idk if he went to find another "egg" after he's finished with the first.

i'm a buddhist/catholic (buddhist as a kid, catholic during my teen) who stopped going to church for a long time. not because i just let it go like bill, but because i was busy most of the time with work. i don't buy into the stories that sounds mythological (walking on water, virgin mary giving birth, curing blindness, etc.) but i do believe in the other stuff that just sounds like a "telephone" version of people's experiences and lessons learned. probably due to me starting with a very strong buddhist background. i'm also all about science and new discoveries. i do believe in a god or a being in a higher dimension who may have created our universe. this god may just be the fabrics/membranes of the higher dimension that collided creating the "big bang" and if so, i'm totally fine with that. if that is what created our world, it's ok, no need to make a big deal.

So this is how a conversation with two opposing viewpoints should work, religious or any topic there should be an even acknowledgment and understanding of either person's point of view regardless of whether or not you agree with it. There isn't a need to invalidate someone else's beliefs because they don't align with your own. I fall on the atheist side of it but I am all for someone believing in something that brings them comfort or purpose. It's when one's actions are motivated by an unwillingness to accept and respect another's view that is when you end up with unnecessary conflict. It should all be able to be a rational conversation between adults and so often it does not end up that way. It's nice to see that there are people that can still hold their beliefs and not let them dictate their judgement of another person, especially considering the world as it has been lately. I originally just came here for the comedy aspect of the video but your understanding and respect for others has me watching more. I honestly don't see this anywhere near as much as I should so thanks for that you have a new subscriber.

Britt, you are the kind of person I would love to sit down with and have a conversation because we may have differences, but we have so much in common & I'm glad I found your reaction videos.
Your husband coaches Div-I NCAAW basketball & I not only LOVE college women's basketball (Brenda Frese & Maryland Terps). I've even been to the Women's Basketball Hall Of Fame in Knoxville (I still think Pat Summit is the most under-rated AND the best head coach of ALL TIME).
Your views on this subject are just like mine. I was raised Roman Catholic until I came out while serving in the Navy way back in 1992 (I was 21 years old). I was told by the priest at the base I was serving when I had a one on one conversation with him that I was going to hell unless I rejected being gay and went back to being straight. It made me so mad that I left the faith, though I didn't reject religion as a whole. I identified for many years as agnostic, which a lot of people, including for a small period of time my mother, thought was the same as atheist. Those who identify as agnostic believe that there is a form of a higher power but need the proof. I'm autistic and my degrees are in journalism & psychology (two professions where you seek out the truth yet understand that everyone's thought process is different.
When you inject your take on any of the videos you've reacted to, you do so in such a way that makes me not only feel comfortable but I can understand how you sometimes get from point A to point B.
By the way, when I was diagnosed with cancer on April 30th, 2019 (currently in stage 4 for the past 2.5 years), it brought me full circle back to my faith for two reasons. There was something that happened to me on January 9th, 2000 (the day that according to my medical records, I was pronounced dead for almost 20 minutes) added to I kept asking to "show me proof," to which I believe I have been shown. Plus, it has made me see life in a way that I thought I had been looking at but I wasn't. Since I now fully embrace the words in the bible that I have always had by my bed, I also believe that the way to lead my life (and not anyone else's) is to live like Jesus did. You accept everyone. Everyone has the same right to live their life the way they see fit as I do. I will say that in the last four years, things that I had wanted in my past that was never given to me, finally were rewarded for this change in how I view life. Including at the end of 2019, I finally had one of my life long dreams come true.
After trying out for more than 36 years and 27 "searches" & fill out applications, I was finally selected to appear as a contestant on "Wheel Of Fortune." If you type in Wheel Of Fortune December 19th 2019, you will see me in the bonus round with Vanna White, solving "An Epic Journey" to win an additional $37,000, for a grand total of $61,311 in cash & a Danube River Cruise (which I was unfortunately not able to take due to first COVID, then to the cancer in my right leg that makes it impossible for me to walk/stand/sit for long periods of time).

I was Catholic until I read the Bible from cover to cover, and saw it in context, I quickly discovered how much Catholicism doesn't adhere to the actual New Testament scriptures and is quite a bit in conflict with scriptures. I could no follow error.

The egg signifies spring and rebirth and fertility in many cultures especially the Pagens. Christianity is a mish mosh of several other religions that came before it. Some of the stories were written in the Gilgamesh tribunals 1000 years before the Jews thought up a monotheistic god. The virgin birth, rising from the death after 3 days, all these stories were told of many other "saviors" before Christ. It was just a popular fictional sequel.

Bill Burr is always so reasonable in his acts. Even if you believe something different, more often than not you can't really argue with him. He just presents his side of the "argument" so well.
It's a matter of factual opinion when it comes to him.
I like to compare it to the age-old comparison/discussion/argument between men and women.
Both sides are valid with absurd takes, important topics, and different problems.
Bill Burr just presents and gives perspective to the "man side" in a funny and reasonable way. That doesn't mean the woman's side is not there. Same with his perspective on religion... Not sure I managed to make this make any sense lol

Hence why I avoid politics and religion discussions. They exist to divide us. Not unite. Reverse psychology ppl.

    "Getting people clear..."
I think what he's talking about is the idea that Scientology promulgates, that people have "thetans" attached to them somehow and that you need to clear yourself of them and their influence, if you want to attain the highest level of their version of enlightenment.
Or something along those lines. In a nutshell, the "being clear" bit is about being clear/ being free of "thetans".
