That would destroy the whole suggestion that we are living in a 1984 style world. If we are in fact living in such a world, which I believe is the case, then there will be no initiative or even the possibility of it being taught in schools. There is only room for the exact opposite, namely gender ideology and Critical race theory, which they now claim isnt political and is objective and scientific truth.

He was also part of the Fabian Society in England...a 'secret society' back then - a group of writers, poets, etc. dedicated to spreading of socialist propaganda in England and other countries in preparation for the one new world order. Their motto was, 'Wolves in sheep's clothing'...now it's, 'When we strike, we strike hard'. They embraced eugenics and had plans for creating a 'super man' [which had a part in the character for the comics]. This 'secret society', the freemasons, the Frankists, the Italian society who were called the Illuminati, and the Jesuits [and probably many other societies like these] are all on the same page with the same plan. With Orwell's and Huxley's books, they hid in plain sight, giving them the appearance of 'prophets'.

Watching movies will be much less help to developing your mind and much just missed. Cheating yourselves. Wouldn't not be surprised if teacher led idea. No emphasis on real learning now. It's a disgrace. Soon education--so called system will be fully overhauled as it is full of lies and fosters mindless stupidity.

    1984 (George Orwell) quotes
    P15:
But what was strange was that, although Goldstein was hated and despised by everybody, although every day and a thousand times a day, on platforms, on the telescreen, in newspapers, in books, his theories were smashed, ridiculed... in spite of all this, his influence never seemed to grow less.
    P16
The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act the part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, torture, to smash faces in with a sledgehammer, seemed to flow the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic. And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blow lamp.
    P19:
To disassemble your feelings, to control your face, to do what everyone else was doing, was an instinctive reaction.
    P43:
Even the written instructions that Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed: always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.
    P48
... the chosen lie would pass into the permanent records and become the truth.
    P 53, 54
You think, I dare say, that our chief job is inventing new words. But not a bit of it! We're destroying words - scores of them, hundreds of them every day. We're cutting the language down to the bone. The Eleventh Edition won't contain a single word that won't become obsolete by 2050.
    -Syme, Winstons comrade.
    P 72 -74
    VII
If there is hope, wrote Winston, it lies in the proles.
If there was hope, it must lie in the proles, because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, 85 per cent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the Party ever be generated. The Party could not be overthrown from within...
But the proles, if only they could somehow become conscious of their own strength, would have no need to conspire. They needed only to rise up and shake themselves like a horse shaking off flies...
    He wrote:
Until they have become conscious they will never rebel, until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious.
    P74.
To keep them in control was not difficult. A few agents of the Thought Police moved always among them, spreading false rumours and marking down and eliminating the few individuals who were judged capable of becoming dangerous
    P 83, 84
The heresy of heresies was common sense
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command
    P102
One could not learn history from architecture any more than one could learn it from books. Statues, inscriptions, memorial stones, the names of streets -anything that might throw light upon the past had been systematically altered.
    P140:
The family could not actually be abolished... the children, on the other hand, were systematically turned against their parents and taught to spy on them and report their deviations. The family had become in effect an extension of the Thought Police. It was a device by means of which everyone could be surrounded night and day by informers who knew him intimately.
    P162
    Winston to Julia:
...Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been re-written, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been re-named, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.
    P163
Talking to her, he realised how easy it was to present an appearance of orthodoxy while having no grasp whatever of what orthodoxy meant. In a way, the world-view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening. By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.
P,197, 198: (from the brotherhood book THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF OLIGARCHICAL COLLECTIVISM by Emmanuel Goldstein)
If it once became general, wealth would confer no distinction. It was possible, no doubt, to imagine a society in which wealth, in the sense of personal possession and luxuries, should be evenly distributed, while power remained in the hands of a small privileged caste. But in practise such a society could not long remain stable. For if leisure and security were enjoyed by all alike, the great mass of human beings who are normally stupefied by poverty would become literate and would learn to think for themselves; and when once they had done this, they would sooner or later realise that the privileged minority had no function, and they would sweep it away.
In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance.
    P198
The essential act of war is destruction, not neccesarily of human lives, but of the products of human labor.
    P223
Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.
    ***
    P226
Being in a minority, even a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.
    P261
    O'Brien to Winston
You would not make the act of submission which is the price of sanity. You preferred to be a lunatic, a minority of one.
    O'Brien continues:
But I tell you, Winston, that reality is not external. Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else. Not in the individual mind, which can make mistakes, and in any case soon perishes: only in the mind of the Party, which is collective and immortal. Whatever the party holds to be truth is truth. It is impossible to see reality except by looking through the eyes of the Party.
    265
The Party is not interested in the overt act: the thought is all we care about.
    P269
We know that noone ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end.
    280
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever.
    281
The more the party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant: the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism.

First thing it reminded me of was the fallout shelters and bomb drills when I was in grade school. They kept the fear level very high during the 50's and up to now. Soviet Union is gone. But, they still want us to remain in a fearful state.

If the novel or the movie were created today I'd say "It's too on the nose". George Orwell was a like prophet of current times.

They say they don’t make martyrs (through torture) because they don’t want to repeat Christian history , but then go on to employ similar tactics of martyrdom of Christians. Only difference is that these martyrs fail.

They break their victims down and make them publicly grovel and conform, and THEN they execute them. That‘s how they don‘t make martyrs.

Eric Blair (George Orwell) was introduced to the Fabian Society by Aldous Huxley, writer of Brave New World. There, Orwell learned the elite’s future plans. So he wrote a novel that’s supposed to be fiction.
Orwell didn’t predict anything. He saw the script: cashless society; mass surveillance; world government etc.
He named his novel 1984 as homage to the Fabian’s centenary. The real year is around now.

Edmond O'Brien was hopelessly miscast as Winston Smith. For a start, Smith was thin, scrawny even as many were in the novel due to being underfed. Next, Smith was English in an England now in 1984 called Airstrip 1. The action takes place in London. Edmond O'Brien just does not cut it as an Englishman. See the John Hurt or Peter Cushing versions for a more satisfying film.
