I was 14 too. I would love to go back to those Carefree days at a children's home in Cheltenham going home to Portsmouth to my mum for the holidays. Everybody was more friendlier back then.
Peter Wyngarde voicing Vostok. Henry Cooper / Barry Sheene in Brut. Pointer To Value with Bob Monkhouse. Sue Barker at 7:10. Pure & Simple voiced by John Carson. Texaco with James Hunt and Fred Emney.
Because of the way the picture and sound were transmitted together, it used to be quite common to get "intercarrier buzz" on the sound if the tuning wasn't spot-on. Some good examples here!
0:50 - Canada Dry Vostok must have been a hastily-made competitor to Schweppes Russchian mixer for vodka which seems to have about the same sort of thing (both were the same colour, anyway). Apparently Russchian is still available in a few out of the way places, but Vostok went east (geddit?) rather quickly...
Mostly goods rather than services back then, and ads designed to sell the product, not to push a social message. As for Grundig, yep they were a 'posh' brand, out of my parents' price range. The 70s were a difficult decade, but I think I would go back to them in preference to today.
hands up all those that have ever found a pound coin under a sofa cushion? Yeoman couch fillers. buy a pie and fill it. hands up anyone that has seen a grown man naked?
@@michellefalleur960 yeoman pie fillers - meaty chunks. - its the airplane quote - the pilot asks the young boy if he ever saw a grown man naked. Its peter graves famous line out of AIRPLANE.
That is a known problem with digitising old tapes. You sometimes also get a faint "shadow" of the audio appearing slightly ahead of the normal audio track.
