I mean, he's not wrong. A rivalry implies there's some kind of parity between the teams in terms of wins and losses. The two surest things in life are death and taxes, and the third surest thing in life is the Leafs will lose to the Bruins.

As a Wings fan, I actually like the call he did for a Datsyuk to Zetterberg goal. "The puck seems to do magical things for these two guys and after a while, you realize it's not the puck, it's the guys."
thats the thing: people only hear the call he makes for the Bruins but he is as passionnate for other teams too when they score great goals!

I met edwards after the bruins loss to vancouver this year (9-3). He talked with me and my brother for about 20 min. real class act, great guy.
I've been a bruins fan since I was about 8 years old. I remember when Jack started and I loved him immediately. I think every teams announcers should be homers. It's just so fun to have someone calling the game who gets into it as much as the fans do.
It's one thing to be a homer who just gets super excited when your team does something good, but he takes it too far by ignoring/justifying clear penalties committed by the Bruins and cries about phantom penalties which are not called against their opponents. His consistent apologetics for the Rat and complaints when he gets the retaliations he deserves are what bugs me the most.

The thing nobody gives Jack credit for is that he gets excited when the other team scores too. Say want you want about him being a homer but for me the Avs guy who just goes into a monotone, barely audible voice whenever the other team scores is 1000 times more annoying.

I agree with that. I sometimes wish Gary Thorne (the guy who does MLB now) did commentary for the Avs, that'd be cool.
His call of Subban's PP goal to tie Game 7 was nothing short of electric.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Edwards on one of our family’s annual Bruins pilgrimage. A more gracious, warm and friendly person is hard to imagine. The Bs are lucky to have him.
The biggest homer moment was when he violently screeched “IN YOUR FACE!” in Ottawa.
There was a lot of context in that game that led up to that
I’ll take that and raise you his classic postgame monologue after the Bruins knocked out Montréal in Game 7 of the first round of 2011 playoffs.
Haha and how perfect it was! I am a bruin fan so I am very biased from the gate. There is a clip of Edward's on Tim and Sid where he is very calm and layed back. I would recommend it if you hate him hahah

Love or hate Jack Edwards, his commentating is just on a different level. So much passion for this team and his calls are absolutely miraculous

Well this top 10 caters to the better aspects of his play calling which is good. But for the rest of the game, his play calling gets valid criticism. He isn't criticized for no reason yknow.

I don’t see a problem with him being a homer, he’s the Boston commentator for a reason, not like he’s Doc Emrick doing calls in LA and then in Pittsburgh or wherever all the time. He’s BOSTONS guy. Here in st. louis we have john kelly and darren pang but there’s been many times where they’ll admit oh that won’t be a goal even if the Blues scored it.

Perhaps at being an absolute tool, unintelligent announcer and utter annoyance. Definitely not the best broadcaster in the business. If he worked for literally any other hockey team aside from the Bruins, he’d be fired ages ago.

I got some off the top of my head: PK Subban’s goal in game 7 2011, Phil Kessel’s goal in game 7 2013, or Kadri’s from the same game.
That would not be a challenge if you actually watched NESN. Philadelphia 2010 Game 7, Montreal 2011 Game 7 Plekanec and Subban goals Toronto 2013 Game 7 Kessel and Kadri goals to name a few.
Guys, that's like a goal per year out of what normally is around 200 or maybe under + playoff goals per year, ya'll not doing so well haha
He has some great calls for opposing teams. Just no one ever uploads them for some reason. He has the same energy for opponents goals as Bruins.
I hope any hatred or ill will sent towards Edwards isn't serious. It's sports, people. This man loves hockey just like the rest of us.
I like him and i'm an habs fan.. the guy is hilarious, sure he is biased, but every commentator is. At least, Jack Edwards is funny and entertaining as hell!! Why do you watch hockey? to be entertained? Well this guy does just that, you don't have to agree with him every time he makes a call, give him a chance people and accept the fact you won't always agree with him.

Jack is the best. It’s like people always whine about announcers not being themselves but then when you got someone like Edwards who is just real af and oozes charisma, the people still have to find a way to complain.

Sabres fan here, my quintessential Jack Edwards call happened some random game where Tuukka Rask made 2 breakaway saves in short order, and on both of em he goes "Rask robs him!" And then he made another great save and he said "THERE'S A CRIME WAVE IN BOSTON!" 😂😂😂

There are times when Jack can be incredibly annoying and cringey to listen to, but he is passionate about what he does and I think everyone should be able to appreciate that about him.

There was one call Jack had, I don't remember who it was against, but Tuukka made 3 great saves in a matter of minutes and after the 3rd one he screamed "THERE'S A CRIME WAVE IN BOSTON!!!" Lmfao. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

My personal favorite Jack Edwards call is from Game 4 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. the Flyers on Milan Lucic's 3-1 goal: "off the legs of Horton, he delays, Lucic in alone with Kelly, HE SCORES! SUMMERTIME IS COMING TO PHILADELPHIA!"

Jack is from NH grew up a Boston fan and now is the play by play announcer for the Bruins. He shows his love for the team and the game with every sentence. What's wrong with that? People seem to ignore his comments about great plays or players from other teams and only focus on his unfavorable comments about some players . Love or hate him you always know where he stands. I think he is the 2nd best announcer the Bruins have had. Only the great Fred Cusack was better.
