Tim Newman You'd better move to West of Japan where the prefecture is called Kansai. Osaka, Kyoto have a lot of place where you can sing. Tokyo is very busy city and tight regulation.
Yeah it was rude, but everyone knows you can't play music like that. He was ticked off that this kid at least did not even research but arrogantly brought his speakers to a peaceful park and hoped for the best. The performer was the one being disrespectful to Japanese law. I know because Iive here.
Hey, I’d highly recommend you try it. Which city are you in? I use the Roland street cube mainly. I’d recommend it but there are plenty of other options!
So what's the consensus? Do we need a permit to play amplified in the street? Will they actually ticket you or worse? Heading to Tokyo day after tomorrow with my gear to busk... Wish me luck :)
hmmm...not to be racist but I doubt an asian like me would receive that much generosity from people. Thanks tho man that was very inspiring to see you put yourself out there. I'm gonna be street performing in Japan to test my fate in a couple of months.
I was thinking about traveling there only for the purpose of playing handpan, what can you advice to me? is there any permission that I can get or what do I need to do? If not, can you tell me any interesting and lucrative country to busk on?
Before I even watched this video when you said 'I want to busk in Shibuya' I already knew you were a misinformed kid. Please do your research before running into the cops. If they were in a bad mood, they could arrest you and confiscate your items.
Even in the UK you're frowned upon for having an amp on the street because it's bloody obnoxious. With the Japanese being far more concerned about propriety what you did was straight offensive and you are super lucky that girl was there to explain that you're an ignorant foreignor. I reallu do wish you the best of luck with your travels but ditch the amp.
In Japan, Music street performance is prohibited in most places:( That is a problem. Let me apologize as a representative of Japanese.
Naoki Onoda you don’t need to apologise - I understand! Do you know anywhere where it is not ???
Not prohibited

Busy Japan
Why some authorities in Japan don't like people singing or having a good time that's harmless to others?? SAD!
man you should always ask or research before going somewhere or maybe you already knew but didnt care
Love your song. Sadly in japan you need permission to do street performance.
Haha love it
I dont like how the police say "yamero" I just don't like his attitude at that point
BTW "yamero" means "stopi it" in english

It’s very disrespectful to hustle for money like this in Japan.
Let him cook
