I've been following your channel for quite some time and this particular video will become one of my favorites. I have been using Luminar 2018 since it came out. I do like it but it may be time to upgrade. Thanks for helping me spend more money. :) I hope you and Amanda and the cats have a Merry Christmas!!
Thanks for the content this year Gavin i have enjoyed the lightheartedness of the channel , i wish you and your lovely wife a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous new year from down under here in Australia .
Merry Xmas Gavin and Amanda - have a great one. Thanks for all of your helpful, motivating and hilarious content. Hoping the New Year is a happy one for you with a trippling of subscribers at least. The pair of you deserve it.
Wishing you and Amanda a fab Christmas and New Year. Thanks very much for the guidance in this video - I've been applying what you've discussed using Lightroom and wow, such a striking difference. And yeah, subtlety is key 😀 Keep up the great work, recently new follower here and loving the content and your style.
Firstly Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Amanda and families. I have Neo and I have just learnt a ton off stuff, why don't you do a Neo course, your explanations are superb, I have previously purchased some of your content which I thought was really good, so would definitely purchase a Neo package from you.
Lovely video about local color management, and a nice plug for Luminar (an excellent application). But nothing that can't be done as easily in Lightroom Classic.
Yes, I love color masking! I was pimping me some fall foliage just the other day. Fun seeing a couple of those images again. I don't remember the La Sal Mountains image, very nice. Looking forward to the day when I see 100K next to fototripper. Happy holidays!
First 10 seconds: "If you're like me you have a stash of autumn photos you took a few months ago" Me: (crying because I had to start a new job and didn't get any time to go out and take photos) I have a few...... Merry Christmas my dude. I hope all is well with the new kitty and many amazing photos to be taken in 2025
Aaah the shot of Crystal Mill! Always gets my juices flowing. Maybe I should have took that sponsor from Luminar 🤦🏻♂️ Big thanks for sharing the podcast cocker. Merry Christmas 🎅🏼 x
Hi Gavin: Thanks for creating and sharing your approach to editing. This application is very interesting to me. Best wished to you and Amanda for healthy, happy and prosperous Holiday Season. Cheers, Keith Pinn (Barrie, Ontario)
I did enjoy this video, Gavin. It's an alternative to what I'm already doing with another product which I have been wondering if I am going to have to replace in the near future. What I need to know is if my late 2015 Monterey OS 12.7.6 will support it and how do I find out? Thank you for this presentation.
Not far away from being able to replace LRcc now. It really feels LN makes it even easier and much more intuitive better overview, when wanting to do localized adjustments.
Thanks again Gavin. I am not a Luminar Neo person yet. With regard to post production editing, I was wondering about your monitor. Do you calibrate it for colour accuracy or is it a specialist monitor for multimedia work? Or just off-the-shelf? Merry Christmas to you both - hope the New Year is another fun filled adventure.
Yes I do. That reminds me, I'm supposed to do it evert few months so I should probably do it now. I use a BenQ monitor, can't recall the model number but it's been a beaut!
I still use PS for my exposure blending but I'm using Luminar more and more for specific tasks. I can predict a time not too far in the future when Luminar will do it all. They just need to add the 'auto-align layers' function and I'm all set.
Old do with a tutorial in Lightroom too Gavin. Happy Christmas from the UK 🎄🎅🏼 plus thanks for some great vlogs this year. Great to have Brent back too #saggybagofnoodles
There’s a more remarkable simple strategy as well… cooling off the dark and blue tinted areas, and warming up the yellows and greens (the remainder, apart from the cooled off areas)
Hmm, not sure if you need Luminar Neo to do that trick, just go to yellow and orange in LR and apply a similar adjustment, and pretty sure there is a colour picker there and I have LR 2018
I wish I wasn't colorblind. I couldn't see anything wrong with the images before you edited them. I could see the differences after your edits, but I couldn't say with any confidence that your edits improved your images. I'm honestly not trying to troll. I just can't discern the improvements. They were different, but I don't know if they were different better. I'll take your word for it. Thank you for the Luminar Neo tutorial. I have Luminar, but I'm much less familiar with it than PS.
@fototripper Downloaded latest update only this morning. Thank you for replying! Best wishes for the new year - keep those videos coming - highlight of the week.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you 🎅 and Amanda 👼! No better place to spend Christmas in a fresh renovated former church ⛪️! Please tell Amanda I like the unicorn 🦄 sticker on your mic 0:26. From the bottom of my heart I wish you 100k subscribers within 2024. Only 600 missing 🔥
Gavin....that's not photography; that's cheating. There, I'm being consistent at the risk of being put in the same category as your father-in-law. Merry Christmas to you and Amanda.

Merry Christmas Gavin and Amanda, not forgetting the cats 🙂

Is Luminar purchase or subscription?
@@rolandrick I know it was purchase when it launched, but I don't use it now so I don't know. Check their website.
Great video Gavin! Merry Christmas to you and Amanda! F them trolls, but Merry Christmas to them too.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks Brian. The La Sal shot goes waaaay back to the early days but it's there in a video somewhere...
First 10 seconds: "If you're like me you have a stash of autumn photos you took a few months ago"

Great video! I learned a lot from it. Thank you!
Did not yet notice the colour masking, although I use luminar neo quite frequently. Thank you for the good advice!
Aaah the shot of Crystal Mill! Always gets my juices flowing. Maybe I should have took that sponsor from Luminar 🤦🏻♂️ Big thanks for sharing the podcast cocker. Merry Christmas 🎅🏼 x

Merry Christmas 🎄 🎉.
Merry Christmas
Thanks for the awesome idea, Gavin. I have plenty of Autumn photos I can go through.
Thanks Gavin. I do have a license Neo, but hardly use it. Ill give it another try!
Thank you Gavin I will try that for my own images

Best way is to just try it out.

Can point color in Lightroom Classic create the same result as using color masking in Luminar?
I'd have to try it out.
…and Lr does it better too.
Good video. I'm wondering, has Neo replaced Lightroom and Photoshop for you or are you still using them as well?
I still use PS for my exposure blending but I'm using Luminar more and more for specific tasks. I can predict a time not too far in the future when Luminar will do it all. They just need to add the 'auto-align layers' function and I'm all set.
Good idea for this afternoon!!!
Thanks for the Neo tips.

Merry Christmas you pair.
Merry Christmas!
Enjoyed the helpful video!👍

Thank you for the Luminar Neo tutorial. I have Luminar, but I'm much less familiar with it than PS.
When I click on Color - Masking, I dont get "Color" as a choice. All the other categories are there such luminosity etc but no Color.
Me too!
Perhaps you have an older version of Luminar Neo?
@fototripper Downloaded latest update only this morning. Thank you for replying! Best wishes for the new year - keep those videos coming - highlight of the week.
Hi Gavin. Something weird happens when using your affiliate link to order Luminar Neo. It adds $18.25 tax.
I expect taxes will be determined by your location. I'd get in touch with Skylum and ask what's up.
@@fototripperthanks yes it is adding tax by location. Cheers.
תודה!
Thank you.
WOW.
I always employ Thomas Heaton - he makes my landscape images POP !
Yeah, me too. He's really good 😊
I use luminar for arond 8 yeard

Shouldn't that be Governor Trudolf? Great tutorial. Thanks.
Wizzard Hardcastle
First like 🎉
The only way I can make my images pop is print them and wrap them around a firework
Backlog of autumn images? I'm still procrastinating on a load of summer shots.
Gavin....that's not photography; that's cheating. There, I'm being consistent at the risk of being put in the same category as your father-in-law. Merry Christmas to you and Amanda.
Thanks for those great tips.
It's too bad Trudeau removed the tax when I got my copy all those months ago. Thanks, Trudeau, for screwing me up again!
Trudolf 🤣 inspiring, informative, thank you. Merry Christmas to the Hardcastle household. 🤍🤍🤍
