Happy to say, we successfully grew lavender here in Zone 3b and it survived last winter - English Lavender "Munstead". Placed on a sunny, south-facing fence (full sun) in well-draining soil. Covered with snow (as much as possible) over winter for additional winter chill protection.

It may seem counterintuitive but snow is a GREAT insulator. So fun to hear about your success in zone 3b! -Whit

We’ve never been successful at growing lavender no matter how many times we’ve tried. We got close with Sweet Romance but it too didn’t survive our zone 5 winter. At this point we have given up on it but hearing you say Sensational and Phenomenal varieties are good for zone 5 we may have to take another look. Thank you.

I can’t count on TWO HANDS the number of lavender plants that have perished in my care. I told myself Sensational was THE LAST type I’d try before admitting defeat. Glad I did:) Good luck! -Whit

Hello! Im in zone 10. What kind of lavender did you show at timestamp 3:15? Ive seen other kinds but not that one at the stores (unless the look different when they grow than when in the nursery).

Hi, I'm in zone 6b, is this an OK zone for lavender plants?

❓I live on the Oregon Coast in zone 9b, about a mile inland from the ocean . Is there any lavendar type that might grow here?

Any lavender rated for zone 9 will do well in your climate as long as the spot you select has two things - lots of sun and well-draining soil. If you're worried your soil will hold too much moisture, you can always build up a spot with lighter soil and plant there. You can also be successful when growing lavender in a pot as long as it has drainage holes in the bottom. Here are some zone 9 lavender: www.naturehills.com/perennials/perennial-varieties/lavender/9 happy planting! - Whit
