This song speaks so elegantly about the difficulty of letting someone go that you truly love. It is a unique feeling..of needing to let go and needing to hold on. If you truly love someone they remain a part of who you are in this moment and who you become. Both feelings are completely honest.
A lot of country is formula, but it takes a very talented songwriter to say so much with so much emotion within that formula and Skip surely does that.
Skip's Music Never Gets Out of Date! I liked ETC, But Trying to listen to him Now, It's Just Old, out of date. Only a few songs My Uncle's use to tease their wives, I still like to hear those every now and again, but Skip! Never Goes Out of Date. They're just as good Now as they were back then.
I wish I could gets this in CD, this whole album/cassette helped me thru a hard time many years ago. I wore that cassette out......I have no clue why he didn't go up like George or Garth....He sure should have....such heart felt words and that voice....such Talent
@Joy, I discovered his work by chance. I was going through mariachi music used CDs at a used CD store in Sacramento, California. This CD was mis-categorized. . That same day, I discovered Tom Russell... also stuck in with mariachi! . Both these singer-composers are now my favorites. Weird, huh?
Saw him play in Corpus Christi in the early 90s. Left such an impression on me to this day. Such a shame he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Love his voice.
