I can't spell the actual jaw dropping sound of the "Holy F**k!" I uttered when seeing the before and after photos. Wemby needs to stay as light as possible while he turns his muscles into steel with strong cartilage and stretchy tendons.
I feel like too much muscle is going to reduce his mobility to the point he has to assume the role of the average center. His skillset is anything but average so this would suck to see as a fan of the game. Also, on a 7’4” frame any additional weight can be destructive to the bones and notably the knees. On the other hand though, like you said in the video, even though Wemby is way stronger than he looks he can’t do anything against 7’0” 270 lb. centers in the paint when he’s basically a 7’4” 220 lb. small forward.
I don't think they're going to allow him to put on an excessive amount of weight. There is a difference between hypertrophy and strength training. Yes, you will get stronger if you train for hypertrophy, but it prioritizes muscle size and weight gain over raw strength. With pure strength training you will gain weight and muscle mass, but not as rapidly. As long as Wemby is only doing that and they limit how far it goes he should be fine (in terms of how heavy he is as he matures).
@@shepardice3775 I agree and he has better flexibility than some of the regular sized dudes in the NBA since that’s a point of emphasis in his routine. He should be fine and if he gets injured it’s not because he’s super frail but because… well people get injured man. Oladipo and D Rose, well-built and regular-sized guards, both got their careers ended up injuries. It can happen to anyone, praying that modern medicines and tech reduce such occurrences.

Wemby knows best how much weight to put on I think. He will be so f*ing scary 🎉
