    I think it should be mentioned that In Bloom was totally built on Chad Channing drums line. All the passages he did are absolutely relevant for the style of the song: Dave itself said that he mostly kept Chad Channing work and he even asked the permission to him to play what he yet did.

    I was just thinking about in bloom recently how it was arranged prior to the nevermind sessions and this was the first song to be cut for the album. Butch Vig explained the choruses how he overdubbed Kurt 3(?) times along with Dave’s harmonies giving it that sound we all know now. I’m curious how they felt moving on to the next tracks after hearing the over produced version of this. Like maybe they left the studio all looking at each other saying “we can’t let him do this to every song” cause let’s be honest anybody who has attempted to play this one live knows it’s impossible to get the same energy from the vocals. Dave grohl never even sang the harmonies live that I know of. Still a killer song on both versions!

    • @MrColaKO
      @MrColaKO Год назад

      On interviews, Vig has explained how he kept telling Kurt that they had to record vocals or guitar over and over because they were problems with the tape, or there were mistakes or so, so he could overlay them, otherwise he would have opposed.

    NO NO NO NO NO NOPE NO NO NOPE. 42 year old grunge kid here:
    Kurt has gone on record in MANY interviews saying that his lyrics have ZERO meaning. Quote his last interview in 1993 (ruclips.net/video/A0IhuHucAc4/видео.html) "People expect more of a thematic angle with our music, they always wanna read into it, and before I was using pieces of poetry and just garble-just garbage, just stuff that would spew out of me at the time. and a lot of the time I write lyrics at the last second cuz im really lazy, I find myself having to come up with explanations..." So really In Bloom is not about the fair-weather fans but the over zealous fans that take liberty with the art and take to places that he didn't intend it to go. HOWEVER, Kurt was never a snob either, he wanted everyone to listen to his music. Young, old, rockers, jocks, punks, EVERYONE. Thats why he allowed Rape Me to be Waif Me. So it could be sold at places like K-Mart/Wal-Mart. So if you see a 12 year old in 2023 with a Nirvana shirt on, dont ask them to name a song. You dont want to be the one who likes their pretty songs and likes to sing along and knows now what it means.

    • @MrColaKO

    Man the songs that didn't make it to this album, they didn't know I mean obviously knew but I'm sure he liked all his music the same more or less. Songs like been a s o n old age Verse Chorus Verse, Exedra. So yeah when you're replacing gold with gold probably gets kind of hard to gauge. People don't realize that albums are about what songs are on there and not just your newest 12, the order of the songs can change everything. It's a shame that people don't appreciate albums anymore but then again most" artists" or as we know them as corporate branding, can't even write a song, aren't even particularly good at who they hire to write their songs

Bleach didn't ofer that mch to sing along with unless you were me and was able to sing Negative creep without blowing out my voice and on pitch.
    Smells like Teen Spirit came out 1st, so that's why I bought into this idea at the time. Maye the little bit of popularity they had, which was miniscule in later terms was too much for Kurt. On the other othe hand, Kurt wanted to be a rock star as much as he hated it.

    Wow.....grew up with grunge in Australia.....had the sub pop subscription that got me love buzz single....bought bleach and loved...sick of all this "Kurt was so deep " stuff....he knew what he wanted.....signed to a major label and they recorded a great pop album.....even grohl said they wrote the music first and Kurt just made shit uo for the tunes....he was no deep philosopher😅😅😅😅

    Wrong , I was an athlete in HS I’m only 2-3 years younger than Kurt but I understood what was happening with the song finally someone sang what I was trying to put my finger on in my heart and mind and I love Kurt for this , Rednecks ? That’s a bigoted thing for you to say and Kurt wasn’t welcoming to all the people who found something drastically different from whAt they were use to heavy metal even country or rap and B lined towards Nirvana like I did, you dig what I’m saying K
