When you're born with this, you don't know any different. I didn't know until I was in my 20s that it wasn't normal for people to see double. I'd really like to know why eye doctors didn't mention surgery to my parents. Or maybe they did and my parents didn't want to do it. I've had two strabismus surgeries. The strabismus isn't noticeable anymore (unless maybe I am very tired), but the horror fusionis is there for good because it wasn't fixed when I was very young.
So productive, so interesting, without loosing of quality... Thank you. I would like to know something about the Susac, Cogan and Vogt-Koyanagy-Harada syndrome.
@@Neuro-OphthalmologywithDrAndre can anything be done to fix horror fusionis , also known as intractable diplopia? Prisms do not help. Perfect alignment of eyes thru surgery did not help either. Some optometrists make promises to fix it thru vision therapy Is it possible or sounds quackery?
I have tried to explain horror fusionis. The closest I’ve found to explain it is as when you try to get the ends of two batteries to meet and they are both the same, and they move away from each other. instead of going together.
That's how I got it! My eyes were super crossed as a kid, so they loosened up the muscles. I guess they overshot a little bit, cuz now I'm juuuust wall-eyed enough that I have very poor depth perception... but I can freely switch my dominant eye, which is something nobody else seems to be able to understand.
It’s funny - one of the treatment options I have read about is to patch or occlude the weaker eye, which I have already been doing for the last few years after extreme prism failed me…
@@marybixler60 it’s very frustrating, yes. I’m hoping that vision therapy might help. Had an assessment last week and will get the results on Thursday.
@@nikpanchal513 the new ophthalmologist says I have a little bit of fusion at near distance, so she’s doubtful it’s Horror Fusionis. I could try vision therapy but it’s too far from home for weekly sessions, and too expensive. So still in eye patch. :)

Hmm interesting you didn't mention HF after strabismus surgery.

Cant the patients with horror fusionis, just use a bit of head tilt to remove the double vision like you can with 4th nerve palsy
As I experience it there has never been a thing that made me fuse, seems impossible.

Thanks so much for this explanation - my ophthalmologist said today that I might have this. :)
