This guy changed my life. I suffered for 35 years not knowing what was wrong until I randomly came across his article. I'm so grateful for Corey and that he shared his story

My psychologist and I compare fighting OCD with mental compulsions/primarily obsessional stuff to learning new movements. My time learning new sports like Powerlifting, Olympic lifting, skating, and calisthenics has really helped me understand how it is to recover from a mental illness. Health is like learning a new movement, it's not easy at first, but it gets better and more efficient as you practice it more.

I really want to thank you guys for making this video. I'm in Jamaica and I have lived with this awful disorder for years and I thought I was the only person in the world going through it at the time. I felt so ashamed and sad for years and I've just tried to hide it from my family and friends as best as possible. I didn't even know there was a name for this thing till one day I happened to be watching a program on discovery health channel last year or the year before and was like "THAT'S ME!" I was just glad that I finally got the name for it. But anyway thank you and God bless you.

Thank you. I liked the medication part. It feels so good to hear that.. I was on a low dose two months ago when I decided to stop. But it made me depressed. I always felt ashamed of taking SSRI. I thought I was lying to myself, that even that feeling of well being was fake. I had the feeling that the meds were just a disguise. Behind this disguise my fears were hiding, but they were true... Now I have come to the point where I have accepted taking medication, maybe for a long term period. I know I can live a happy and full life on a (very) low dose of medication. And combined with CBT ERP, I'm on the path to recovery. :)

I've anologized it the same way. I've told certain people, it's like having a cold that never goes away, try to imagine that? Its wears you down and demoralizes you. Daily I have give up moments. A good percentage of therapists have no idea how to deal with it, and just throw useless meds in your direction. I'm looking for a good one right now, gotta keep trying. Good luck to everybody on here, it's the fight for your life.

P.s thank you so much for this video, I’m starting to come to terms with my ocd and pure O. I have literally fucking struggled horrifically with this for about the last 11 years!!! However..... someone who I’ve known for a while from my local church has now offered to help me out with a local treatment place here in England. The ocd treatment centre in Taunton, have you heard of it Chrissie?

Recovery is possible but it will be there always because it's a brain malfunction. 3 parts of the brain orbital cortex, thalamus and canduate nucleus are causing a loop of thoughts that are false.

MultiMagnumforce can sexual intrusive thoughts be completely eradicated or I have to deal with it my rest of life

Thoughts can't be eradicated but how you react to them is the key.

Is there really such thing as “pure OCD” though? Normally there are mental compulsions if no physical compulsions (checking, reassurance)

Pure o is just a nickname for the community of people who have intrusive thoughts and mental rituals. It’s not a scientific term. And it is treated with ERP!
