I didn't mention this but the WORST Rush yards over expectation last year was Jamaal Williams at -.98 and kareem hunt at -.75. Swift's is 3x that

The O Line is 100% the problem

  • @Slick1020

Fox had Jordan Howard. Nagy had Howard and David Montgomery. Flus had Montgomery, Herbert, and Swift.
Because we didn't have a solid OL. We had RBs who could get yards after contact like Howard/Montgomery. Hell, Foreman did this well and I don't know why they let him walk.
Swift falls over after any defensive player touches or breathes on him.

You forgot Travis Homer & Roschon Johnson. You (deliberately?) forgot that Eberflus boasted about meddling in the offense, would dis Fields on the sidelines in front of the entire team & also returned to calling plays that scored 17.3 points a game after Getsy showed him how to get 31 points with it _before_ they acquired D.J. Moore.
What you have here is an Unquestionable Tyrant with a "my way or the highway" attitude who isn't interested in winning but in controlling. Even the current o-line said after the game "we did what we were _told_ to" implying either the HC is dictating what they do or they tried to bring it to his attention & he refused to listen.
Y'all believed in him even after Fields publicly called this all out after week 6 of '22. So You The Fans deserve whatever else Eberflus brings you.

The problem is... They paid Swift so he gets the majority of the snaps however I don't think Swift is better than Herbert between the tackles!!!!!

I still don't get the disrespect of Herbert. Don't make no sense.

There you go: if the o-line's play is that bad, what rusher can make yards? Even Cowboys' fans seem to be less delusional & in denial than Bears' fans. The short-term memory issues seem to be NFL fans as a species. For instance, the o-line has been a problem since before Fields was the starter. You can look up Sam Mustipher's "highlights."
2nd despite having a stocked RB room, they haven't even *attempted to* establish any run game since Eberflus took over this team. They had Herbert, Homes, Foreman yet drafted Roschon Johnson. This last is troubling because RJ was considered the Best Pure Rusher in the draft, a real gamer who was measured as faster in games with the ball in his hands that in exercises.
He isn't even getting touches. He's also a good blocker, something they need. Eberflus (who _has boasted_ about meddling in the offense & my observations indicate the o-line is one of his areas of focus) seems to use TEs but never RBs or WRs as extra blockers & even then his schemes suck. A favorite from the last two years was how he used Kmet.
He'd stick him on the end of the line, so close to the T that the T could not possibly take a step outside. Then he'd pull him. The TE.
So the T would already lose a step against any edge rusher, & the only other person who could block them was ordered to run elsewhere, allowing them to go unblocked.
Did you hear what o-line players said in post-game interviews? "We did what we were told to." This implies they either already tried to speak to the HC to no avail or the HC is the one giving the orders. People noticed Waldron was biting his nails *on camera* before the game even started & the fact that neither he nor anyone else changed anything all game implies it's the latter.
This was the same with all those plays the Entire Team knew wouldn't work. Those plays where Fields was accused of "holding onto the ball too long?" Those *didn't **_EXIST_* before week 4 or 5 of '22. Then he suddenly started doing it All The Time.
Except for the 4 weeks following him calling this out. Then for 4 weeks or 'until this all blew over' the Bears *_averaged_* 31 points per game. Then they _returned to using_ the plays that brought this down to 17.3 ppg.
What coach anywhere would voluntarily decide to *return* to using plays they knew scored fewer points? This all screams of an HC who allows No One to question him & his behavior with reporters before Fields called him out indicates this as well.
He'd bring his arm down in a chop-wave motion that seemed like the Last Warning an angry Dad would give his children before they'd get hit.
Was he _threatening_ reporters? Anyhow all of this played out in front of all NFL fans & they turned on & *blamed **_Fields,_* not 'Flus. So it seems he *is used* to getting away with stuff like this his entire life. Congratulations Bears' fans. You fell for it.
