I gotta agree with Sissco Every competitor already knows the moves from muscle memory. The wall is always exactly the same, from the precise placement of the holds to their texture , and even the texture of the wall. When someone comes with a move to shave off time, like Reza, the world record holder, who literally skips the second hold, everyone copies the guy. It's literally like watching speedrunners but it lasts 6 seconds. It's still impressive to watch someone climb a 50 foot wall in a matter of seconds, but I feel it's way less interesting to watch than the other disciplines. Bouldering is great because each problem is unique and people can use their creativity to solve the problem in different ways depending on their physical ability. The people who come up with the problems most of the times already have a sequence of moves they want the climber to be forced to take, but competitors often try to "break" that sequence of move and come up with their own.

I think having the try guys collaborate is the best example of how anyone can at least learn the basics no matter ability and Josh understands that they are beginners but also adults and is respectable with how he goes about teaching and helping.
This whole video is cringe. And as a european this is even more cringe since this climber might be top in the US, but will likely not even get close to top in the olympics
6:18 actually Reza’s record record was broken a couple months ago, first by Kiromal Katibin with a time of 5.258 seconds, and then (on the same day) by his teammate Veddriq Leonardo with a time of 5.208 seconds. The Olympic times won’t be that low though, since people had to qualify in all three disciplines, meaning ultimately not many speed specialists made the cut. (It’ll still be super fast though since all of them have been training for it.)

Proud to be a Vertical World Member. At 4:34 the guy in the red shirt (Quinn O'Francia) is my teammate. Although I'm upset that in USA Climbing, it is extremely hard and unfair for short people. Things are so much better when you thought it was going to cost money but then it doesn’t.
I get a sense Josh could teach anyone at any level to climb and they would feel like they came out learning something and appreciating the activity/sport. I really love seeing professionals at the Olympic level show us the behind the scenes of how they’re sport works but sometimes with these videos it’s like they’re talking to a child or they over simplify the sport and not give it all the credit it deserves. I think having the try guys collaborate is the best example of how anyone can at least learn the basics no matter ability and Josh understands that they are beginners but also adults and is respectable with how he goes about teaching and helping.
Please tell me The Try Guys will be back for Winter Olympics. I'm picturing speed skating.
How many other people here climb for fun and cringed so hard at them saying “let’s just round it up to a 6”?
This whole video is cringe. And as a european this is even more cringe since this climber might be top in the US, but will likely not even get close to top in the olympics
@@Angus_fO Still faster and better than you
@@therunner8955 you dont say?
as an italian, I laughed so hard when I heard "roccia". sorry guys, you mispronounced it ahaha
I know 🙈
I thought that sounded awful lol
😅
Well climbers cringed the whole video...
@@Tobyzguy only the ones who are too uptight 😜
6:18 actually Reza’s record record was broken a couple months ago, first by Kiromal Katibin with a time of 5.258 seconds, and then (on the same day) by his teammate Veddriq Leonardo with a time of 5.208 seconds.
The Olympic times won’t be that low though, since people had to qualify in all three disciplines, meaning ultimately not many speed specialists made the cut. (It’ll still be super fast though since all of them have been training for it.)
I love when he said that climbing is part of our DNA. I totally agree! If you let kids explore, they jump, climb, crawl and run. Until the society tells them to sit still in classrooms, offices, at home, etc.
"Let's round it up to a 6." had me loling
Great pairing! I love when Zach and Keith joke with each other.
there were a few rock walls in one of the gyms at my high school. very fun but extremely hard. I only made it to the top of the easiest wall lol. loved this video!
Climbing is my sport. I found it later in life at 29, but three years strong and I've never looked back!
Love to see it represented, I hope more people give it a try!
When I was a kid I LOVE zooming up these things.
Now I’m 34 & couldn’t even IMAGINE 😂😝
Proud to be a Vertical World Member. At 4:34 the guy in the red shirt (Quinn O'Francia) is my teammate. Although I'm upset that in USA Climbing, it is extremely hard and unfair for short people. (I unfortunately just missed the cut for Nationals because there was a move that everyone else could do easily and because I was the shortest climber, couldn't do, which cost me a rank so I didn't make it to Nationals)
Props to Keith of doing it despite his fear of heights!
11:26 "it's like Dr. Strange" hahahahaha I burst out laughing hahahahaha
I empathize with Zach so much! I think about my skeleton every day too, but for the opposite reason- my connective tissues are stupid, and I get subluxations and dislocations every day. It's not a fun way to live, for sure.
My favorite episode so far!
In a way it's like three day eventing: control, speed, and accuracy. And a low score.
"And then when it's a bad date you can just climb outta there"
I laughed so loud.
I think Zach found his athletic calling! Proud of him!
The way they presented the sport is fantastic. You guys made me laugh, I don't know if they were for real when they were struggling but I own a climbing gym and is legit that people struggles a lot with V0s . Kudos
I’m a climber and I love this video, it introduces the sport so well!
As a American ninja warrior fan it’s awesome to see Josh Levin again
Let's round it up to 6. They have no idea 😂 had fun to watch this. I'm really excited for the first Olympics. Spread Love and love climbing ✌🏼
As someone who taught climbing for years the guys are not doing that bad :) way to go guys!
I knew about two of the three categories of climbing but I did not know about the boulder one! Well done Zach for the win and to Keith for overcoming his fear of heights! Bravo!
I didn't know Timothy Chalomet did rock climbing
