I’m watching this performance after so many years and today I can notice so much difference . Back then when I had watched this performance, I was a new army and Yoongi was roughly 24. Today Yoongi is 30, few steps closer to his official solo debut and he has grown so much. His rap style is more versatile today, his voice has become more deeper, he is experimenting with more genres of music and is also exploring his vocal colors. What fascinates me the most is his growth in his personality. He has been more jovial and expressive. He’s more interactive and talkative. He has become less reserved and more social. He appears more approachable now and openly shares his opinions. And mostly importantly, he seems relieved. There were definitely some thoughts and feelings that pounded on his mind back then but after D2 he seems to have gotten his closure and allowed those emotions to let go. He looks happier and more free now. I’m so enthusiastic to listen to his upcoming projects. I’m sure his new chapter will explore a different side of him. I will always dearly love the Yoongi who once had to bear pain, frustration, regrets and fears and the Yoongi now who could bravely win over the darkness and help himself get the strength to move on.

I got this in my recommendations 5 years back when I was first hearing of BTS. I saw the title and immediately thought : Of course every single boy band out there has just got to sing about their first love *eye roll*. Still decided to see how he'd wax on for a few seconds and then move on. Except.... I never did. I got hooked right from the start. When I understood that he was talking about his piano. And then his voice. That complex mix of soft, deep, sad and raw just kept reverberating within me. It lead me by hand into this space that his music created and it kept me there. I couldn't leave. I didn't want to. And then as the song went on, the deeper it lead me. I wasn't concentrating on the lyrics any longer. I was too immersed in the journey that his voice carried me on. Deep within me I felt all that he felt. The pain. The anguish. The guilt. The hope. That pure raw and all consuming voice of his evoked emotions so strong that before I knew it I was shedding rivulets of tears. And when the strings came in and he went soft and the music faded away, I let go. It felt like I'd been holding my breath for the entirety and only then could I breathe. It was catharsis so powerful I needed several moments before I came back to myself. And then I listened to it a second time. Read the lyrics. Cried some more. That was the day I vanquished the prejudice I had inside me and decided to give BTS a fair chance...and man that was the best decision of my life. I've never looked back since. For this reason, First love will always hold a special place in my heart. And I will forever be grateful to Yoongi for it. And seeing this performed live is an experience all on its own. The lack of screams from the audience is testament to how utterly bewitching his voice and emotions are, almost leaving you in a trance.

I loved this song from the studio version, but this live stage performance is just so intense. He has to be so vulnerable up there - those are his real emotions he's portraying. No matter how good a performer you are, that's intense, baring yourself like that. This translation seems better to me than a lot of them, and the subtitles on the live mean I can share it with friends who don't know the piece yet. Thank you. The only thing I always look for in art, music, performance is emotion. Something may be considered as valuable, as masterpiece, but if I don't find it emotional, it's not for me. That is however, never even an issue with Suga. Almost everything he does is filled with pure, raw emotion. I really couldn't care less if he is an idol, a member of a band or just an underground artist from "nowhere". I couldn't care less that I don't understand a single word of what he sings until I see a translation.... Because I swear that emotions in his performance hit me like a truck, every. single. time. Seeing him here I can feel how he's ripping his soul, how he stands there in front of his bare truth, and I can't even cry, because it touches me so deeply, in places where not many people can actually reach. I just found your site today and though I am 2 years late, I am happy that I did find it. Suga is one of the most talented musicians in this universe! I always enjoy his songs and his collaborations are wonderful. This song, which is also new to me, has to be one of the most heartfelt and beautiful odes to someone very dear to him. His life has been full of hardships and sadness (you can see it in his handsome face 😔) and the emotions come out in his compositions making the melodies awe-inspiring. Just beautiful!!! His first love...music, will get him through whatever lies ahead. This comes out very clearly in the song. Although I think most will think it is about a girl love, I really think this is a metaphorical song, part of his personal journey to healing. I loved this song from the studio version, but this live stage performance is just so intense. He has to be so vulnerable up there - those are his real emotions he's portraying. No matter how good a performer you are, that's intense, baring yourself like that.
This translation seems better to me than a lot of them, and the subtitles on the live mean I can share it with friends who don't know the piece yet. Thank you.

The only thing I always look for in art, music, performance is emotion. Something may be considered as valuable, as masterpiece, but if I don't find it emotional, it's not for me. That is however, never even an issue with Suga. Almost everything he does is filled with pure, raw emotion. I really couldn't care less if he is an idol, a member of a band or just an underground artist from "nowhere". I couldn't care less that I don't understand a single word of what he sings until I see a translation.... Because I swear that emotions in his performance hit me like a truck, every. single. time. Seeing him here I can feel how he's ripping his soul, how he stands there in front of his bare truth, and I can't even cry, because it touches me so deeply, in places where not many people can actually reach. So I stand there in awe, forgetting why I am even here, feeling so much that no words can say... Thank you Suga for trusting us that we understand, cause some of us really do, you know, even if we lead totally different life, in different corner of the world. So thank you and I promise to come back here to listen to you over an over again....

But with the release of D-Day, Amygdala music video, Yoongi’s tour, and with all of the resurfaced Yoongi content brought up by himself, ARMYs, and my memories - when he got to “Grabbing my crushed shoulder,” I just broke out into tears and started bawling.

I just found your site today and though I am 2 years late, I am happy that I did find it. Suga is one of the most talented musicians in this universe! I always enjoy his songs and his collaborations are wonderful. This song, which is also new to me, has to be one of the most heartfelt and beautiful odes to someone very dear to him. His life has been full of hardships and sadness (you can see it in his handsome face 😔) and the emotions come out in his compositions making the melodies awe-inspiring. Just beautiful!!! His first love...music, will get him through whatever lies ahead. This comes out very clearly in the song. Although I think most will think it is about a girl love, I really think this is a metaphorical song, part of his personal journey to healing. No matter what happens in his life in the future, his music will save him. Very interesting young man I think... our Suga.

Thank you for so much for posting this. The song title was mentioned elsewhere and the quick search brought me here. I happened to listen to it before I went out, not knowing what the song was about. From this, I gathered so many emotions. What Suga intended to convey, succeeded all too well with this person. A stunning song. With the mv, I found myself silently urging him to touch and play the piano to signify a kind of reunion, but he didn't. So bittersweet.

This song feels like how much i love my mother and how much i resent myself when i'm impatient with her. It encompasses how much i understand her, and how i may be the only one in her life who ever will. A soundless scream spills out for her pain but also joy that i at least am here for her.
