Great video, and superb CCW. I am a retired police officer who started my career in the revolver world and have come full circle. I have carried every 2" & 3" snubby, and this is by far the best. I love this gun. The video says it far better than I can, but I will add this. With some ammo the POA is a few inches high at 21' with the K6xs, but I found the Federal Punch +P 120 JHP to be spot on. Just an FYI.
Just bought the K6xs this week and took it to the range. It is an amazing shooter. Great trigger and so much easier to control the pull. Plus it has a slight wall, which is great to me. Was able to get a nice, consistent group of 3 inches at 10 yards using regular target ammo. I've shot the 442, 642, 637, Taurus 856, and LCR in 22lr 22wmr 38 special. The only ones I could ever get a somewhat decent group with was the 22's. Everything else, I was all over the target regardless of the ammo I used.
I finally was able to look at one of these and hold it in person. I understand what people are saying about the grip, I feel the same way, but I will tell you with that little extra grip it allowed me to get my entire hand on the handle, which is very nice especially if you shoot one-handed for any reason at all. That’s why it is the way it is. I will tell you it’s a very comfortable grip even though I haven’t shot the gun yet. I did not buy it but I will tell you I wanted to. The weight is extremely balanced between the aluminum frame and the stainless barrel and cylinder. It feels like a stronger gun than any other 2 inch revolver I’ve had or held. The quality screams in this thing and it’s extremely lightweight. I think it’s going to be a big hit. I will also mention the sites are way better than what I would’ve guessed being fixed sites! The only thing I would’ve liked to have seen was for them to put a tritium night site on the front.
Sootch00, of all the good reasons I watch your reviews for it has to be your genuine enthusiasm and love for firearms and for shooting that really draws me in. You're a Gun Guy. Keep doing your thing!!!
The ejector rod is also slightly longer on the K6XS than the S&W, for a more forceful ejection thrust. HKS speed loaders for the old Colt Detective Special and D frames should work for the Kimbers as well.
It is definitely a powerhouse with a reputation for stopping power that a fair number of men can actually manage(perhaps with a little practice) to shoot.

With all the advanced metallurgy these days, I have no idea why Smith and Ruger continue to make 5 shot revolvers. These Kimbers seem to be a much better choice.
@@ggrandcz I get it, but I've never had an issue with carrying a 6 shot that a 5 shot would solve. You're already compromising with a revolver, why compromise further?
I have first hand experience pocket carrying both. My SW printed more because the kydex hugged the cylinder more. I made my k6xs holster in a way that blends the cylinder back in to the rest, it carries better and prints less. Even if the 442 had a new holster the difference is non existent behind 1 layer of jean.
I have both the Kimber K6S and the K6XS and both are amazing guns! The K6XS is definitely built for CC and so much lighter than my K6S. The all stainless, and quality of the K6S is amazing. They are both very accurate! I have a Ruger SP101 as well, but have found I shoot the Kimbers so much better. Can't go wrong with either one!
Many years ago, I purchased a Kimber K6s and it was one of those that ended up with a broken firing-pin. I returned it to Kimber and they replaced the pin. Recently I bought a Kimber K6xs and loved it until after 120 rounds of +p (and only dry-firing it using snap-caps) you guessed it, the firing-pin broke. I also had one, "light-strike" out of that 120. Now, I was worried about using my original K6s with that pin Kimber replaced. I found a website that makes upgraded replacement firing-pins for the Kimber K6s and purchased a replacement pin and had it installed by a gunsmith. I now have that gun working fine and stopped worrying on the reliability factor. Because of the broken pin in the K6xs, I will be returning to purchase another pin (I will not be returning the gun to Kimber) for the K6xs. I am not the only person with a broken firing-pin on my new K6xs, there is another firing-pin break with a K6xs talked about at Buds Guns in the “community” section. I feel safer buying a new well-made pin and paying a gunsmith to put it in than trust Kimber and their firing-pins.
@@totallynotsuspiciousemail5696 It tales the same R&D, machining, tooling, QC to create a quality 22 LR firearm as any other caliber. You get what you pay for.
I don't turn away people from small frame revolvers. I just tell them that the gun does not have to be used with pocket rocket loads and the grips can be changed if needed. I tell them to buy a case of good quality wadcutters and practice. and they can work really good for self defense as well. they offer low recoil and punch nice deep holes , and they make the gun easier to shoot.
You brought out the Smith Airweight! Yes, the light weight material is good for weight reduction. I have an Airweight 637 and I prefer a hammer. Yes, there could be a time when the single action might be needed. No, it does not hang up drawing the gun if you use a holster. (in the pocket or in the waistband or on the waistband). I like to carry a snub nose when I am out in yard. I carry a G19 when I am out and about.
I love the k6s but it gets a little heavy when you carry it all day every day, plus if you don't have the rubber grips, 357 will sting your hand like a MFer. The K6XS is an excellent choice for 38 special, and is a lot easier to keep on your hip all day.
I absolute love this revolver. My SA 1911 A1 .45 ACP 4” that I’ve carried everyday for 25 years is jealous. Pop some quality +P ammo and I’m a happy old man. The quality and finish are second to none. What a wonderful six shooter🔫👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I made the mistake or ordering one of these. I wanted a light weight snub revolver to everyday carry. I liked it's 6 shot capacity and the grip it comes with. Mine ended up being junk. The cylinder would shift/cant when the cylinder release button was pushed. The ejector rod was sloppy, the ejector rod star was loose fitting. Sometimes the trigger would bind up when being dry fired and sometimes a strange (crunchy) sound could be heard when the revolver was being dry fired. The revolver had machine/tool marks on the blast shield and the side plate was poorly fitted. The fit and finish was rough. Definitely poor quality control on Kimber's part. I had high hopes for it but ended up getting rid of it.
I wish it came in .44, I carry a S&W 359 titanium frame .44 magnum, yes it’s heavy and cumbersome but I feel more confident that if I ever had to use it in a life threatening situation, the report of the first shot may get the attention of the attacker with the sound alone, and maybe change their mind. The Kimber, I may buy as a backup as you suggested. Beautiful weapon.
They can bark pretty loud especially from shorter barrels. They also have an effective bite on bad guys. I personally like the heavier ones in that caliber with at least a 3" barrel. They may weigh a little on you when carrying. Though they are more manageable to shoot. One that is most pleasant to shoot is the Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel. Granted that is going to typically function as a home defense revolver rather than one for concealed carry.
After owning and carrying a K6s for nearly four years, as well as putting several hundred rounds through it, I can say without reservation that it is the best revolver I've ever owned. I don't find the weight of the stainless steel model to be an issue in pocket carry. It reeks of quality inside and out, the trigger has to be experienced to be believed, and the sights are far superior to the S&W 642 it replaced.
When I was looking for a snubby revolver to carry it was between the K6s or the Smith 360 PD. I went with the Smith due to weight difference for pocket carry but I can see the K6xs in my future although I'm one of those guys that like a .357 Magnum. Great looking gun and I like the recess in the cylinder. Reminds me of the old S&W's Thanks.

I have a K6S & it’s a great little snubbie, but it is heavy for pocket carry. I only wish Kimber would’ve pinned the front sight. I would’ve liked to place a tritium dot there. Other than that, I’d change the grips for a smaller footprint & smoother draw from the pocket.
Kimber makes a great firearm. although I have not shot this mod. Charter Arms make a 357 carry, light in weight but a 5 shot. and far from the quality of Kimber, but the charter is ported and does the job at 1/2 the price.

@@Skinnymoose All the capacity in the world won't make up for poor marksmanship whether autoloader or revolver and I hate when capacity is used as an excuse for poor marksmanship. We are also responsible for every round that leaves our gun as there is a lawyer attached to every bullet. Real world shooting cases have proven that it only takes two to three shots to stop a threat. I have the advantage of shooting straight while the bad guys spray and pray so I am not at a disadvantage. I am also less likely to have a malfunction. I can reload also if necessary. Yes I will use as many rounds as it takes to stop a threat but capacity is overrated while marksmanship is underrated.
@@rbm6184 Well, I have a snubnose revolver, and I have a Glock 19 with an RMR and a weapon light. Whenever I'm tempted to just pack around the revolver, I ask myself a question. If I were to need to defend my life today, which gun would I rather have with me? I can't think of a single instance in which my 5 shot snubnose revolver would be a better choice over my Glock 19. Therefore, the revolver stays home, the only reason to carry it is just pure laziness. Its slower, less accurate, has less capacity and is slower to reload. Its a no-brainer. If im buiding a house I can hand nail everything or use a nail gun. The nail gun is far better than a hammer. It has nothing to do with poor marksmanship, it has to do with choosing the best tool for the job. Carry whatever you want, its your life and your family's lives on the line, not mine.
@@Skinnymoose That is your opinion. I don't want the hassles of the autoloader that includes the malfunctions/jams, round in the chamber, out of battery, racking the slide, mags, and so on. I shoot autoloaders well but I shoot revolvers better meaning I am more accurate with a revolver. It is not slower or less accurate for me. Like an autoloader it just takes practice and training on the gun. Like you said, personal preference being the best tool maybe "for you", but maybe not for me. I don't always carry a revolver. I carry autos also. Its sometimes better for me to carry the auto. "I can't think of a single instance in which my 5 shot snubnose revolver would be a better choice over my Glock 19." I will give you ten. I. Multi-chamber not restricted to single chamber jams. 2. Fixed barrel is more accurate. 3. Rarely ever jams being more reliable. 4. More power if using a magnum. 5. Multi-caliber such as .357/.38 6. Safer with less negligent discharges. 7. Ease of operation with no slide to rack. 8. Comfort of concealed carry without the sharper angles of an auto. 9. Legality of only having six shots opposed to firing too many rounds than is necessary. 10. Self-contained spent brass in a cylinder saves brass for reloading spent cases. Can you fire your auto up against a threat without it going out of battery? Maybe if the angle was upward and not pressing on the top front of the slide you could. Can you fire your auto in a jacket pocket? No you can't.
you can get 38 specials that come out like 357 magnum ( that's how we got the 357, long story) and I have never had a problem with any of my revolvers . my glocks , well they do sometimes hickup. and I agree with all of your points. That looks like a nice revolver. Though when people talk about concealing a revolver in a pocket(especially with a 6 round cylinder) I have to wonder how big and baggy those pockets are.
The 357 mag seams to work well...but as far as their autos being top notch, Kimber autos are the second most returned to manufacturer for warranty repair, behind taurus at my store, I have a store in Yonkers NY, and know the ups delivery guy for Kimber, he said to me, you have no idea how many guns he delivers every day back to them for repair,... Kimber did a 150th year commerative 1911 for Yonkers PD, gun looked great, got about 200 of them in, 6 had wrong names and shield numbers and about the same number went back for repair, ..that seams like a low number, but most guns were not shot and put in wooden display boxes...Also a range officer for the City of Yonkers Range worked for Kimber many years ago as a quality control inspector, they let all of them go. Lastly, if you get a Kimber, buy a Wilson or Chip Mccormack magazine.
I worked for Kimber a short time. I’ve seen a whole pallet and half of handguns one day come in lol. The revolvers are good though just replace the firing pin, I believe apex has a kit
I've always loved the 642, unfortunately the placement of the slide release always bites my thumb nuckle. Kimber looks to have solved that issue. I've always been weary of Kimbers quality, but I've heard nothing but great things about these.

Great review, thanks for sharing. I just got my 1st revolver, a Taurus 66. Love that gun. It is very different compared to a semi auto. The trigger requires way more pull and a more steady hand. I hope it gets smoother as I shoot more RDS, 150 so far. I tried to bore sight the revolver but not sure that really does anything good hehehe you are absolutely correct saying revolvers are just fun to shoot 😉😀
I’ve been carrying my 340PD in a pocket holster for 10 + years. Kimber produces a high quality product but I just don’t see myself packing anything this big or heavy.
If it says Kimber, it means $$$. My only Kimber is from the custom shop in 45 ACP The grip safety tears the skin off of my palm under my thumb. I don’t fire it often.
I don't think the "port" in the shroud is to save weight. It's there because if anything gets inside the cut out for the ejector it will cause the cylinder not to shut completely. The "port" allows any debris that gets in, a way to get out, and of course it looks cool to have the full under lug.
I don’t like that style ejector rod. I have 686 with cylinder locked up because ejector rod that is recessed under barrel like that. I could mallet it out- but I’m afraid it will break rod. Most rods like that unscrew at top, so if it gets loose , it can push up in that recess under tension and likely get stuck .

"I can't think of a single instance in which my 5 shot snubnose revolver would be a better choice over my Glock 19."
I will give you ten.
I. Multi-chamber not restricted to single chamber jams.
2. Fixed barrel is more accurate.
3. Rarely ever jams being more reliable.
4. More power if using a magnum.
5. Multi-caliber such as .357/.38
AND , my M642 will go bang everytime I pull the trigger when it is inside my pocket. semis will get ONE round off.@@rbm6184
Should be 9mm for a snubnose. I'll never forget that video Tim put together years ago showing the differences in velocity
🇺🇸
I got the lcr
Sooooooootch. Another great review . Hey just discovered your other channel, I’ve been under a rock it seems. Always the best to you Sir ‘
Looks like another nice option but I will stick with my 642
As always great review!!! Just waiting for one of my local dealers to get one in stock and I'm getting it!!!
That looks like a nice revolver. Though when people talk about concealing a revolver in a pocket(especially with a 6 round cylinder) I have to wonder how big and baggy those pockets are.
It can be done with jeans but not so much with dress slacks, I packed a colt detective special that way for 15 years.
Regards from Guatemala Master SOOTCH00 !! It's always pleasent to watch your educational videos
Thanks for stopping by my friend!
The bloopers at the end are great 😂 bruce/Evan all mighty vibes lol
Nice pistol, and all you need. I prefer the Smith.
I've always loved the 642, unfortunately the placement of the slide release always bites my thumb nuckle. Kimber looks to have solved that issue. I've always been weary of Kimbers quality, but I've heard nothing but great things about these.
lol
Going w a SS personally, but 1day maybe..& older S&Ws. YepYep!!!haven’t seen 6xs in person but the silver/white paint on air weights bugs me.?.bead blasted bare metal ,on both, would be the way to go. IMHO.
Looks like a Gun that handles well…nice front sight also..
Just bought one yesterday.
Great review thank you
Wowwww 😍 I love this Power Kimber Gun Revolver for Home Defense and for Self security defense, thank u so much for your wonderful video Godbless from the Philippines 🇵🇭🙏🙂👏👏👏👏👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Marvin!
Thanks! Revolvers are a whole other world to shooting semi autos! 👍
Excellent review! Thank you!
Excellent reviews, thanks and keep them coming please.
Great video as usual. I watch them all.
WoW what a nice Kimber Revolver It bangs louder than my Prostate Hooah 😂 greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪🦅🇺🇲👋
I dont own any, but I've heard good things about Kimber.
Did Kimber get the firing pin issue resolved?
Also, have you done any velocity comparisons between the Kimber and the Smith?
Sootch, I’ve always been impressed how well you master the muzzle flip of handguns. It’s very hard to see any…even if it’s just .38.
Proper grip with some forearm and grip strength does wonders
Thanks Brother! A lot of trial and error at the range! lol!
Yet another ill need to add to the collection. You're killing me smalls😅
I think summertime is snubby time.
I’ve been carrying my 340PD in a pocket holster for 10 + years. Kimber produces a high quality product but I just don’t see myself packing anything this big or heavy.
I own the K6xs, it's not big or heavy...
God bless you for being a blessing to all of us🙏
If it says Kimber, it means $$$. My only Kimber is from the custom shop in 45 ACP The grip safety tears the skin off of my palm under my thumb. I don’t fire it often.
If I saw that stern "sootch-look" from 0:43 he wouldn't even need a gun, I'd comply post-haste!
Great review. I need to arm my daughter and niece.
I would love one of these in a 8 shot
Great vid and awesome ending 😂
Reminds me of the model 10 snub a little bit
A Colt cobra manufactured from the 1950s, held 6 rounds, and weighed 15 ounces. Ain’t progress grand.
I don't think the "port" in the shroud is to save weight. It's there because if anything gets inside the cut out for the ejector it will cause the cylinder not to shut completely. The "port" allows any debris that gets in, a way to get out, and of course it looks cool to have the full under lug.
Good review, thanks
It would be cool if it had a 7rd 32 H&R mag cylinder.
No Hilary hole, check that box.
😂😂 the ATF put a “ghost gun” add before your video.
@@psycosmyth2055 i thought that Tennessee was a very pro-gun state.
@@psycosmyth2055 so he is a Rino.
Nice revolver
😂 Excellent video Sootch00 and a great looking revolver
Is there a speed loader for this? All I find is for the k6s and idk if they are compatible with the k6sx.
Made in a free state too !
I hope kimber uses a better finish than smith and Wesson does, the finish on my J frames flakes off just from shooting them.
