  • Welcome back to Metal Detecting NYC everybody! In this family vlog Indiana Tones and I head to Pennsylvania to metal detect a historic American farm situated by historic markers and covered bridges. Metal detecting in Pennsylvania was fun: old find, coins and relics, were exceptional and memorable. We also celebrate Gabby's 10th birthday with his son and daughters. We go down waterslides in Kalahari Resort in the Poconos and then hit the farm to find treasure. Moreover, if you want to find out what tilling does for metal detecting, stay tuned! If you like the video, make sure to subscribe and hit the like button. Enjoy the video!

No Till farming has been around for a couple of decades now here in Wisconsin. Saves tons of fuel like you mentioned, plus the soil structure is held together by the remaining roots, preventing excessive erosion. Overall a responsible farming practice

Ugh my back hurts just seeing that tube hitting that "small" wave. I'm surprised these parks haven't started painting the bottoms yellow to camouflage the lost jewelry.
Bucks county is great land. In NY the covered bridge is a tunnel covered by water lol
It's good to have that family time. I'm transitioning between losing family time to grown adult children to now I have family time starting over with grand children. Ugh somehow I just felt old writing it like that.
EMI isn't solely transmitted from overhead through the air. If anyone has ever noticed after a good rain when the soil is wet and you get near overhead or underground power lines the ground is energized and it's due to the fact that poles and especially tall metal towers are grounded very deep into the earth. While there is no direct power flowing through these ground wires there is a slight back feed from the Earth's own electrically magnetic energy. It's faint but it's why a compass aligns a magnetized needle in the magnetic north direction. Ironically when you are up closer to those towers our man made power charge is grounded deep and it's EMI field surfaces around the pole as you walk away from them. The Earth's field and human being generated power fields create a neutral spot. It's exactly what happens when the center of our coils center a target when pinpointing. I noticed this hunting farm fields in south Jersey so I asked a friend who is an old timer union electrician and an electrical engineer out of Philly and he explained this to me and how it compares to a detectors coil. Most of it may as well been in Greek but I believe I understood him enough that it did make some sense to me. Also it was 15 years ago I think (or I would like to think) that I learned more over those years.
The roof piece I think might be a snow or ice dam. Back in the days of slate roofs snow would stick to the cold slate and freeze. Later on in a few days as the sun warmed it the snow would let loose and slide down like an avalanche. So what they did was make a decorative "spike" to pound down into each roof rafter. Then when it snowed it would snow around these ice dams and stay frozen long enough to hold those sheets up there so they could melt away before come crashing down in the size of an iceberg. In New York if you look up on old slate roofs you should see them near the edge spaced over each rafter. They were changed to decorative copper and brass in the early to mid 1800's or on early wealthier homes but most early ones started out being lead painted iron. If that is roof related I believe that's what he meant. The cleaning I'm not so sure about but for safety I'm positive about it. Older houses usually have a much higher/steeper 12/12 pitch because it's structurally stronger so the danger of a thick falling snow sheet from 2 stories is very real.

I’m not sure on that but that’s what he said and I believe the item you did ask Charlie about with the eye looking thing I believe that is what’s left of the valve stem removed from and inner tube for very old tires. But anyways that’s my 1-1/2 cent cause if I had 2 cents I’d really be dangerous. Keep up the hard work….

    It's a valve stem from a tire.

Of course you do know that most historical markers are NOT where the actual action happened, some could be several miles to several hundred yards away.

Thinking of getting a detector for the wife, she has never detected before. What would you recommend at a reasonable price? Enjoy your videos down in n.c.

The two mystery items are an easy solve... Merril, it's not a mouse's Chinese star...That's kinda dumb and IDK..?....Maybe a little racist? IT'S A GEAR! Prolly from a clock or something, just a gear.
The other item is also easily recognized as a hand guard that has broken off a small saber used by Ninga Turtles in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Happy to help out buddy! Mo digg'n!

Question. I now own Minelab 3030, Minelab equinox 600,Garrett At pro.
Since there’s no Manticore anywhere in Ohio or shipping. I don’t know if the nox 900 would be worth it over the 600 or get the XP Deus 2, I know you rave about it. Or should I wait for the Manticore. Which could be months ouch.

How do you compare the Manticore to the 800 ?

    • @MetalDetectingNYC

Better inference on manticore. Slightly better depth and separation. Not 700 dollar difference though .
