I really like the way you leave in the little fluffs, so many video tutorials edit out any and all mistakes the tutor has made making them look perfect and infallible. It's actually encouraging for us rank beginners to see that pobody's nerfect.
The Surfaris and Ventures play the song differently... The Surfaris originally played the song in B major and much faster. The Ventures who covered the song, play the song in C and with a different slower rhythm - that's the version you're learning here. To play along with the original by The Surfaris you need to play in B all around the 7th fret.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Sounded better too with the Hawaiian shirt on. I'm a lefty trying to learn guitar in a right handed world. 😀
I love this song. Surf guitar is my favorite, pretty much all I want to play except for country chicken picking stuff too, but that’s harder to learn. That strat is beautiful!
The "improvised solo" he's talking about is actually easier to play than the melodic pentatonic noodling he suggests. You change positions, and in the proper key of B you get the twang of the open strings at the nut, and sound amazing. Less is more, folks.
This song was written by Merrell Fankhauser and originally recorded for The Impacts in 1962. Not many people know he was ripped off. This is his song, not the surfaris or ventures. We need to start giving musicians credit.
Thanks for the amp settings! All the times I've seen a guitar tutorials and no ones ever thought of it😁
1000% agree with you.

All my sheet music on this song and interviews with the safaris on RUclips will tell you this is in key B. Not C 😅
